Hello everyone!
Are you in need of a cute way to package a gift? Then check out this butterfly tag gift bag - the directions are below. For this project I used the butterfly shaker tag, Sprinkles butterfly medley, and the 4 x 6 butterfly flock stencil.
The other products you will need are Gesso, a gift bag, acrylic paint - I chose paint to match my bag, pattern paper, flowers, white netting ribbon, sentiment stamp, ink, punch, foam brush, sponges, and glue.
Let's put the shaker tag together.
Separate the shaker pieces and paint them with Gesso. Be careful of the wings as they are fragile.
Once the Gesso is dry use your acrylic paint to paint 2 outlines with 1 color, another outline with the other color, an the last outline with both colors by blotting on the paint with a sponge. Let dry.
To do the tag shape, use Mod Podge and cover the front of the tag. When the Mod Podge is dry, use a craft knife to cut away the paper from the butterfly opening.
Remove the plastic film off the front of the acrylic shape and use glue to glue adhere the 2 colored butterfly to the acrylic shape on the side where you removed the film. Place a block on top to ensure the 2 pieces stick together with no spaces.
Now remove the plastic film from the other acrylic butterfly and glue it to the bottom of one of the pink butterflies. Make sure the side you remove the film from is glued to the bottom of the pink butterfly. Continue gluing the butterflies on top go each other ending with the second pink one.
Once the glue is dry, remove the plastic foil from the back of the 2 colored butterfly. Fill the stacked butterflies with some of the Sprinkles butterfly medley and some sparkly sequins. Glue the butterflies together and place a block on top to ensure a good seal.
Remove the plastic film from the back of the butterfly shaker. Take the pattern paper covered tag and the butterfly shaker and use glue to add the shaker to the tag making sure the butterfly edges line up.
Now that your shaker tag is finished let's make the bag. For this you will need the 4" x 6" Butterfly flock stencil, the same paint you used on the tag, white tulle ribbon, flowers to match the bag, sentiment and punch, sponge daubers, and your completed shaker tag.
Begin by placing the stencil in the lower left hand corner of the bag. Use your paint and sponge daubers to stencil the butterflies on the bag. Once the lower corner is done, carefully remove the stencil and move it to the upper right hand corner and repeat adding paint to the stencil. I varied my colors by doing a few butterflies with one color then switching to the other color and repeating until the entire stencil has been added.
Now grab your shaker tag and your white tulle ribbon. Add the tag to the bag by threading the ribbon through the hole on the tag and around 1 handle of the bag. Tie a pretty bow to add the tag to the bag.
Shop your stash and find some pretty flowers that match. Add your flowers to the bag and your gift bag is complete!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my project. I hope you were inspired to try this project!
