Hello crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm back again this month guest designing for Clear Scraps. I've chosen to make a Winter SnowFlake decorative frame. These items are birch laser cut pieces.
I started by coating each piece with some white gesso. I like to prep my pieces with gesso as I think it allows the wood to hold the paint with a richer color.
I gathered some supplies to get started on my project. I couldn't decide if I wanted to use Distress Spritz or Distress Oxide spray in the color of Picked Raspberry. So I went ahead and sprayed a coat of each on the snowflake. I love the bright pink color this gave. For the word winter I used Distress Mica spray in the color brushed pewter. I absolutely love the way this turned out! I think it really captures the winter feeling. I then sprayed a coat of Sheer Shimmer craft spray over both those pieces to give them a little sparkle. For the base I painted with white acrylic paint. I covered the decorative frame with some patterned paper and modge podge and then sanded it down flush.
I think this project turned out so pretty! I hope you'll give it a try!
