Hello Craft Friends!
Dana here! September is here already and it's time to start decorating our Autumn projects. Today I have a Home Decor project using Clear Scraps Medium Wood Gnome Click here and Mini Shaker Pumpkin Click here
The papers I'll be using to decorate my Wood Gnome and Shaker are from Simple Stories Cozy Days collection.
To begin, remove all your Wood Gnome pieces from your package. Take the hands, nose and apply Cosmic Shimmer Ballet Slipper Chalk paint over the top and sides using a sponge dabber. See photo:
Take the beard Wood piece, and apply both white and light taupe acrylic paints on the surface using a sponge. See photos:
After your wood pieces have dried, I applied some Tim Holtz Distress Ink Rusty Hinge along the edges of the nose, hands and beard.
Next set your beard piece in place and marked around the beard lightly with a pencil so I know where to apply my paint for his clothing. You could add patterned paper instead of painting this area if you prefer. See photo:
On his shoes I applied some Black acrylic paint. Here's a photo:
Set these pieces aside. Take your top wood hat piece and chose a patterned paper to decorate his hat. I recommend using Beacon glue when working with wood and chipboard. Apply your glue on the backside of the gnomes hat. Trim away any excess paper using an x-acto knife. Distress any rough edges away using a Distress tool. See photo:
Glue the Gnome's hat and beard in place on your wood base and set aside for now.
Now we can start creating our Shaker Pumpkin. I covered the bottom shaker piece with patterned paper. Trim and Distress edges as we did previously. I love using Clear Scraps Sanding Stick-large Click here
See photo:
Take your top shaker Pumpkin piece, and on the stem I applied some Tim Holtz Distress Paint- Peeled paint and on the pumpkin body I applied Tim Holtz Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade. Here's a photo:
Now glue your first 2 chipboard shaker pieces on top of your Pumpkin shaker bottom base. I recommend using Beacon glue. Its strong and your shaker will stay secured. I filled my shaker with fall colored sequins. But you can use confetti, beads, whatever you desire. Take your acrylic shaker piece and peel off the protective film from both sides before gluing in place. Then add your top shaker piece. Set aside to dry throughly before shaking! Here's some photos:
Once your shaker has dried you can glue along the bottom along with both of the gnomes hands on each side. I applied a ephemera sentiment at the top of my shaker Pumpkin. Here's a closeup!
To finish I took a white pompom and applied some Tim Holtz Distress Ink Rusty Hinge lightly over the top. Then glued my pompom on the end of his hat!
You can add a metal hanger on the backside. Now your Gnome is ready to display during the Autumn Season! Here's my finished project photo!
Hope you enjoyed my project today and will order your products and create a Gnome to add to your Autumn Display!
