Hello, fellow crafters! It's Jennifer, and I'm excited to share my latest creation: a spooky house memory dex box. These new house boxes are incredibly versatile, offering endless crafting opportunities. With Halloween just around the corner, I couldn't resist diving into this project. I used bat chipboard embellishments and a brick wall stencil to achieve the perfect eerie look.👻
To start, I painted all the pieces front and back with black chalk paint. Next, I mixed white chalk paint with the black and lightly swiped it across the pieces to create a spooky, weathered effect.
Next, I grabbed the brick wall stencil and some modeling paste, applying it to the house portion of the box. After allowing it to dry, I used the black chalk paint again, lightly swiping it across the bricks to achieve a weathered appearance.
While that dried, I found a spooky tree (though I'm not sure where I got it from). I painted it black and, once dry, added some purple stickles for a touch of eerie sparkle.
To create a spider web look, I grabbed my trusty cheesecloth (which has become a staple in all of my projects due to its versatility). I spread it out on top of the fence line. I also grabbed some spooky fabric and cut a banner, gluing it along the sides of the fence as well.
Finally, I assembled the box and completed the look with some flowers, a green wreath that I painted black, added purple stickles to, and included a bat chipboard element.I added more moss to the sides of the fence to enhance the spooky feel even further.
I hope you've been inspired to create your own haunted house! Stay tuned for the spooky dex cards that I've placed inside—they're coming soon!! Happy crafting!
~Jennifer
