Hello all! Laura here with you today to share a Springtime project using one of the brand-new Shiplap Shapes from Clear Scraps!
This is the Water Can Shiplap Shape!! This has got to be one of my faves yet! The new shapes are so awesome! As always you can use any medium you'd like to add color or you could leave them as raw wood too! Here I used a layer of soft blue acrylic paint, then before it completely dried I brushed on streak of white acrylic paint. I did this VERY softly to just add a bit of depth and to soften the color. After that was all dried, I wanted to add a little texture to the water can, so I grabbed one of the Clear Scrap stencils!
The mixer stencils are so fun to use! You get a two-fer for these so it's a great value as well! The dot pattern here came from the 5x9 Circle Dots Pattern Mixer Stencil. The pattern was stenciled on using a soft blending brush and Distress Ink. The dot pattern is easy to line up as well, so no problem matching the pattern to fill the space. A colorful butterfly and some enamel dots add another dash of Spring. The wings were slightly bent up and then it was attached with foam tape.
Here you can see how I just started to layer in pieces of ephemera--flowers, tickets, leaves, a tag. Some of the pieces have been adhered using foam tape to give more dimension to the layers. A lace border along the bottom added a pretty touch, as well as, some organza ribbon bows on the tag and handle.
A few more embellishments--cute sayings, more enamel dots and a butterfly add the finishing touches. A pretty project that can be used as up-lifting Spring decor!
Thanks for stopping by today! Stop back soon for more inspiration!
