Hello crafters, tis the season for gift giving! For the dog person in your life or maybe a gift for yourself today I am showcasing the large dog bone wood shape.
I have been wanting to try the Modge Podge distress technique. I painted on one coat of Modge Podge and let dry. Next, I put one coat of ivory paint and then used a embossing/heat tool to dry and create the crackle in the paint. I wanted a light crackle you can put on multiple coats if you want more crackle. I wanted to continue to distress by dry brushing on a light gray paint color and used it heavier on the edges. I used a metallic marker to draw lines and dots around the edge.
Using various dog and dog related dies from Doodlebug I created the dog scenes to add a special touch. I also added a way to interchange bows/toppers for each season. By cutting a thin piece of wood or a paint stirring stick to approximately six inches, putting a Velcro Command adhesive strip and attaching to the dog bone shape wherever you want the bow/decorative piece to be located, I chose the center. I also cannot take credit for this idea; my aunt and cousins showed me this at our Christmas craft party last year.
I am so happy with the way this project came together! All the large Clear Scraps wood and palettes are very easy to work with using so many different mediums. Using paper, paint, Modge Podge and more. Be sure to check out the website for all the options.
