Happy holiday season! It is a time of thanks and gratitude. Today I am using the Clear Scarps birchwood thank you cards to make a small journal to capture family memories and notes of gratitude or thanks. The journal came together so easy, and I love the final product.
I chose to paint the front and back with acrylic paint and in the same color that coordinates with the paper I will be using. You can choose not to paint and leave the birchwood plain or you may want to stain the birchwood. The Clear Scraps wood shapes are so easy to work that no matter how you choose to finish it, it will turn out beautifully.
This does not need a lot of paper; I used a collection that I had scraps left over from a class. The wood thank you journal measures 4X6, I cut down the paper slightly less. I used the 4X6 cut apart as the page base and then scraps of paper to create a belly band to hold a tag cut apart.
In between each page I added an index card. The idea is for it to be used as a place card and each guest/family member can write a special memory, note of thanks and gratitude. The pages are simple adding in stickers, washi tape and ephemera. This was a quick project and fun to make.
The birchwood shape can be used on a thank you card and not made into a journal. The possibilities are endless and easy to create great projects. These make great, inexpensive gifts for teachers, babysitters and family members. This type of project can be a small personal journal as well that can easily be tucked in a purse or computer bag for ease and convenience.
Happy crafting everyone!
