Hello Craft Friends!
It's Dana here! Today I'll be creating an easy and cute card idea for you. I'm using Clear Scraps Swirl Butterflies chipboard embellishment Click here and one of the Scallop Chipboard album pieces Click here to create my card. The papers I'll be using are from Rosie's Studio "One of a Kind" paper collection. I'll be inking my papers and embellishments using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs.
To begin our project, I took a 6x6 inch case base. I cut and covered the front of my card, with a striped patterned paper. Then I cut apart one of the Swirls Butterflies chipboard pieces from the frame. I also chose one of the chipboard scalloped tags to use. You can save your other chipboard butterfly and Scalloped album pieces for a future project.
Take your chipboard butterfly embellishment and trace onto a coordinating paper. Then cut out and glue onto your chipboard butterfly piece. I painted the antennas on my butterfly using acrylic Black paint. Set aside to dry.
I traced and covered my scalloped album tag piece with another coordinating paper and glue onto the front. I recommend using Beacon glue when working with chipboard. It's creates a strong bbond.i trimmed away any excess paper using my x-acto knife and smooth any rough edges using a Distress tool.
Next I like to plan out the other embellishments I want to use for decorating the front of my card. I don't glue anything down until I'm happy with their placement. Using foam dots on some of my embellishments, adds dimension. I applied some foam tape to the back of my scalloped tag piece and adhered on the left side of my card. I added a border sticker at the bottom edge. Then trimmed off any excess sticker. I applied acouple enamel dots to my butterfly chipboard piece to resemble eyes. I applied a few enamel dots at on the bottom right corner of my card. Here's a closeup look:
I glued a settlement piece and some puffy heart stickers at the top along with acouple puffy butterfly stickers. Here's a closeup photo:
The rainbow/sun/cloud ephemera piece I adhered using foam dots. I applied a clear enamel dot over the sun's face to add dimension. Then adhered acouple more enamel dots over the top holes on my tag. Here's a photo:
Here's my finished card:
