Spring Tabby Mixable Album
March 20, 2023
Hello friends! Jennifer here to share a mini album I created using the Tabby Mixable Album! Being March, I am definitely in the mood for warmer weather here in Central Illinois! The Tabby Mixable Album is perfect for your favorite spring photos measuring 5.75 x 7 inches with 5 cascading pages alternating in acrylic and chipboard. And I'm going to show you the techniques I used on my project!
For my front cover, I colored the acrylic using three coordinating alcohol inks starting with light pink at the top! I then blended in a nice green followed by turquoise. It doesn't have to be perfect and its always fun to mix up the colors!
For my chipboard pages, I painted the outside edges with black acrylic paint knowing I would be covering them with patterned paper.
Here is the inside of my front cover where I created a pocket with my sewing machine and patterned paper. I then added tags and ephemera to add journaling at a later time.
I cut my background pieces to fit the chipboard just before the tabs so that they would show when my book is closed. I then added a spot for a 4x4 photo with white cardstock followed by adding ephemera and accents.
For my next acrylic page, I only added the turquoise alcohol ink to a small portion of the acrylic as shown.
I wanted to add some dimension to my acrylic so I got out my favorite crackle paste and the 5x9 Circle Dot Patterns Mixer Stencil. I used a spatula to apply my paste across the top and bottom of my page. I then set it aside to allow my paste to dry.
Using the Fancy Butterflies Chipboard Embellishment Shapes, I painted each of them black. I ended up only using one in my book and decided to save the other for a later project.
And here is the end result! I love how this page turned out!
Here is a close up of the Crackle Paste with the Mixer Stencil! Love!
Here is a photo of the backside of the previous page. I love that you can get the effects of the alcohol ink and crackle on both sides.
For the back cover, I added the pink pearlized alcohol ink. I then used White Cap Mixative and dropped randomly onto the pink for some contrast. I then assembled my book with chrome book rings and added some seam binding for accent.
