Gnome Birthday Card

I am always in need of a birthday card!  For some reason, I don't make enough of them, so I was really glad to see the gnome embellishments in the Clear Scraps collection because I had great papers to go with them.  Hello everyone, I am Maureen, and I'm sharing a quick card with you today that your birthday recipients will love!

This project starts with the Gnome Chipboard Embellishment.  He is adorable and perfect for card-making or scrapbooking, not to mention any other decor idea you can come up with.  Make sure to grab several while you are shopping!

I've painted his beard in a white acrylic paint.  I probably didn't need to do this step, but wanted to make sure I couldn't see it under the beard I was about to add.  Next, I traced a patterned paper hat and cut it out, gluing it to the top of the gnome.

Next, I took the gnome and laid it on the backside of a rainbow colored fur.  Then, I cut the shape of the beard out with a scissors.  I've also traced a plaid paper for his hat, and cut out a peach oval for his nose.

Once the beard is glued on to the front of the gnome, I glued on the hat and nose.  I used a pop dot for dimension.

The background of this card is done with the really cute 6" Flower Masking Stencil.  This is one of my favorite additions to my card tool kit - it's so fun and spring-y.

I'm taking a mix of 3 different colors of ink and blending it across and down the stencil.  My hope was to have a rainbow look to the background.  If your stencil isn't big enough for your area, simply reapply it again at the bottom.

Next, I've taken one of the word cards and mounted it on some colored paper, trimmed it down to size and added it to the corner of my card.

From the paper pad I used, I trimmed the sentiment "celebrate" and added it to the lower right corner.  Then I've glued my gnome backing to the card and let everything dry.

Vintage Couture Acrylic Home Decor

Dana here! I have a Home Decor project idea using Clear Scraps 3x8 Wide Scallop Album, Click here  Clothes Hangers Chipboard Click here and 5.5 x 11 Acrylic Tab Slimline album Click here

I love Vintage clothing from back in the day. I think the styles of clothing were so classy and elegant! Don't you? So for my project today, we will be using Graphic45 "Couture Paper pad 8x8 and some items from my crafty stash!

We will be using only the top Acrylic Slimline album piece as our base for this project. You can save the other pages for a future project. In addition,  we will only use the top Chipboard tag from the Wide Scallop Album. 

I will be inking all my papers using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. 

First I chose 2 coordinating papers from the 8x8 pad and traced, cut and glued my (chic) paper onto my chipboard tag base. I trimmed away any excess paper and smoothed out any rough edges. I cut my 2nd coordinating paper (Accessories") to measure 3x3. Then glue in place. Taking some Graphic45 Gold and black washi tape, I applied on an angle across the upper left corner and bottom right corner. Then I cut out one of the small Journaling cards (Stylish) and adding foam dots to the backside, I adhered on top of my previous two layers. I glued a tiny button along the bottom. Added a few Gold Dazzle stickers over the two holes on my chipboard tag and on each bottom corners. Then adding some foam tape onto the back of tag, I adhered it in the center of my acrylic album piece. I cut one of the border sentiments and glued on the acrylic tab on the bottom edge. Here's a closeup!

Cut apart one of the chipboard hangers (save the other hanger for another future project) I applied with my finger some silver Gliding Wax over the top part of the hanger. Then I applied some Gold Gliding Wax to the bottom portion of my hanger.

On the left side, I cut a piece from tthat measures 3x4 inches and adhered onto my acrylic bbase.i glued my hanger at a slight angle across the top of my paper. I added a tiny white bow onto my hanger. I fussy cut acouple vintage fashion gals and adhered on my paper using foam dots. I added a button card with foam dots on the lower left side. For the right side, i cut another paper (Lovely) to measure 3x 4 &1/4 inches. I matted one of the larger Journaling cards on top. Then adhered on the right side. I fussy cut two of the postage stamps and stapled them onto the lower left side of my journal card. Here's a closeup!

To finish this project,  I took two pieces of gold tulle, and thread through each hole on the left and right side, then tied into a bow! I repeated this in the middle using some white tulle. Here's my finished project!

Now it's ready to display and enjoy!

Now & Then Wood Frame

Hello my crafty friends, 

It's Sandy Diller here today with a wonderful gift that was created using the 

Now & Then Wood Frame

 

I am planning to give this as a gift so no photos yet.  It will be easy for the recipient to add 

any photos they wish because I have left the top of each frame open to slide a photo in.

 

 

I used a spray stain to color my frame - I wanted the wood grain to show through.  

Any paint or stain will work for this.  

 

 

I edged the letters with some dark ink to make it appear antique.  I love Steampunk so 

added a few gears.

Clear Scraps Memory-Dex--Filled with Faith

Hi there everyone!  Laura here with you today sharing a project using one of the amazing NEW Memory-Dex from Clear Scraps!

I will warn you now you will LOVE these adorable new boxes!  This one is called the Regular DIY Wood Box.  You'll find both sizes and styles of boxes and all the cards in both acrylic and chipboard to fill 'em up in the Clear Scraps store in the "What's New" section HERE.   To create the box you can paint, cover with paper, whatever you choose.  I used white acrylic paint and brushed it on so it left the box with a distressed-like feel.   I painted the dowels that hold the cards in place black for a nice contrast.  After gluing the box together, the sides were decorated with pretty patterned paper strips matted on black cardstock, then some stickers popped up with foam tape.

To make the cards for the box, I started by painting the back of the chipboard cards black.

After they dried, I used a bold script stamp and white ink to stamp an image down the middle of the card.  I could have filled the card, but I liked the look of the edges.  You can easily do paper, pictures, etc on both sides, but thought I'd show a little different idea!  Next up was to decorate the front of the cards.

This particular card is one of the Vintage Chip Dividers--and all the different cards come in a THREE pack!  I traced it onto paper, cut it out, then glued it onto the chipboard and added a little embellishment.  The other 2 tags in this picture are nice little additions if you are creating on of these--just cut out the 3"x4" journal cards (or fussy cut images on them) and add a bit of twine or ribbon.  If you add some lined paper or an index card cut to fit, you can use these to journal on too--I'll add bible verses to mine!

A 4"x4" journal card trims down nicely to fit the Regular Chip dividers (square), the other cards pictured are from the Angel Chip Dividers, the Hearts Chihttps://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csmdxanglec.htmp Dividers, and the Houses Acrylic Dividers.   These are so fun to mix and match and with 3 in a pack, the combinations and creative possibilities are endless!

This Is Us Memory-Dex DIY Wood Box

Hello friends! Jennifer here on the blog today to share one of the new Memory-Dex DIY Wood Boxes with you! I  am so loving these fun, new products and have enjoyed creating with them!  For today's post, I  used the 12 Inch High DIY Wood Box as my base! My project is all about my family and I can't wait to show you what I  did!  

 

After assembling my DIY Wood Box with wood glue, I  painted the sides and inside with black acrylic paint.  I left a blank space for where I knew I would be placing patterned paper. Next, with my Beacon Adhesive I  applied patterned paper to the front, sides and back of my DIY Wood Box. 

While I  had my black acrylic paint out, I  painted the This is Us Chipboard Word Script Title that I  used on my front Divider Card.  

Here it is on the  Rounded Chipboard Divider Card which I  covered in patterned paper and small embellishments. I  love the way the black stands out against the paper!  

I  also painted the House Mini Shaker Shape....only painting the top chipboard frame, as well as the edges of the two middle frames. 

And here is my assembled shaker! I  thought it would look cute tucked in between my divider cards! 

Since my project is about my family, I  decided to use the House Chipboard Divider Cards. I  simply painted the bottom third with black acrylic paint and covered the top with patterned paper.  Most dividers I  used a wallet sized photo matted onto white cardstock.  

Another cute tuck in!  I used the Basic Door Chipboard Embellishment Shape which I painted black and backed the "screen" with patterned paper.  

For my Rounded Tab Acrylic Dividers, I colored them with pearlized pink alcohol ink which matched nicely with the collection I  used.  

Here is a finished card with photo + patterned paper! 

I embellished a couple of my divider cards with the Door Knocker Chipboard Embellishment Shapes.  I  applied Gold Gilding Polish to each of them to give a nice shine.

I also used a few of the Regular Tab Chipboard Dividers as well.

Girl Power Heart Printer Tray

They say February is the month to share love with others, but how easy is it to show some love to yourself?  Hi everyone, it's Maureen with you today.  I wanted to share a project that I've recently hung in my office.  It is meant to be a source of encouragement during those days when it feels kinda blah, you know?

This project is done with the Heart Printer Tray Frame.  What a great item to do a lot of the layout work for you!

I found a set of "girl boss" cards that I've had for awhile, and my original intent was to get some of them framed.  Since THAT hasn't happened (Ha!), it was time to get this great paper out of the box!  I've chosen a few sayings and paper patterns that worked well together and set them aside.

These cards were laid behind the frame at first to see what fit where, then I cut them apart and once again laid them out.  Each separate piece is glued to the base of the printer tray frame.

Next, I painted the top of the frame in peach paint and set aside.  Once it was dry I added a coat of glitter glue to the top.

It's time to layer in the 2 bottom layers of the frame, and I'm using a tacky glue for this.  Glue each piece on and let dry, then choose which windows you'll add some bling in.

For this theme, I'm once again turning to the Lovely Sequin Mix - it's so versatile, and I use it for a lot of my Spring projects!

Some of the paper was set aside to cover the heart from the set of Word n Shape Family Heart collection.  I've glued the paper on and dusted the edges in ink. 

I'm adding a couple felt roses to the frame.  These are such a fun embellishment to make!  Simply cut a felt circle in a spiral, then start twisting it from the outside all the way in. 

Use some hot glue to glue the center in place, then add a green felt leaf shape (I hand cut mine.).

This will look good in an easel, but you can also hang your frame.  You can adhere ribbon in between the layers with hot glue or staple the ribbon to the back.

And I am done with my project!  I think I'm going to hang this next to my desk as an inspiration piece!  Where would you put a girl power sign in your creative or work space?

Clear Scraps--Printer Tray--Color Me Happy

Hi everyone!  Laura with you today to share a bright, colorful, fun project for your craft room or as inspiration for your crafting space!

The Clear Scraps Square Printer Tray Frame makes a great base for these projects!  The top frame was painted with aqua acrylic paint.  It's fun to stamp on the frame or brush with ink or paint around the edges, but I thought the clean look framed out this one just right, and it's always a great option!  The squares are super simple too!  The 4x4 journal cards in a paper collection are the perfect size.  The printers trays are built just like our mini shakers.  A solid back, then 2 frames you glue on, then the acrylic piece (always remember to remove the protective film on BOTH sides) and then the top frame.  Rather than glue the 4x4 squares to the back piece though, I cut them out and glued them to the back of the first square frame piece, then I glued that down on the solid back piece.  After that I started to add tags, stickers and other embellishments.  Here you can see how the different layers create depth.

The tag was centered in the square and glued down, then the stickers--the paint brush and bottom paint is flat, the yellow paint I used foam tape, and then the enamel dot.  The flower sticker and "scrappy & happy" are added on the outside (the scrappy & happy with foam tape).  The layers really make the project!  Don't be afraid to use items under and on the acrylic layer!   And of course you can always add a sentiment/title.

The "Let's Get Crafty" is cute and fitting for this project--and easy to add directly onto the frame.  If you'd like to see all the different options (hint there are quite a few!) for the Printer Tray Frames you can find them in the Clear Scraps store HERE.

Mason Jar Recipe/Photo Album

 Hello Friends,

Sandy Diller here with a fun little project that can be used for recipes or photos.  I used the 

Mason Jar Wood Accordion Shaker Album to create this display.

 

 

My album is empty right now but I plan to add photos or recipes to the pages and give it as a gift.

 

 

I began this project by cutting the lids from a metallic paper to resemble the lid of a real jar.  I traced the outline and then cut out enough to cover each jar in the album.

 

 

I used double sided adhesive to attach the paper to each jar but you could use glue as well.

 

 I edged each jar with blue ink, I used Distress Oxide, Broken China but any blue you have will work.

 

 

After edging all the jars I decorated with some die cuts, you could use stickers as well.  The front was painted and attached after inserting my cover photo.

I used rings to hold all the pieces together.

Vintage Shiplap Heart Home Decor

Hello Craft Friends!

I'm Dana and back to share another February project with you! February is all about Love! I love decorating my home for every holiday including Valentine's Day! How about you?

Today I'll be using Clear Scraps Heart Shiplap Shape Large Click here mini shaker heart Click here

The papers, flowers, ephemera I'll be using to decorate my Shiplap Heart, are from Frank Garcia's Magic Love collection. I adore the vintage look. But you could use any paper style you prefer to decorate your wood heart base. 

To begin I took some Folkart Conch Shell acrylic paint and applied around the outside edges of my heart shape, including between the wood sections Let dry before preceding to the next step.

I chose two different coordinating papers from the collection, I traced and cut each piece out. Inked along the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. Then I applied foam tape on the back of each piece of paper before adhering to each section of my Shiplap Heart base. Set your heart aside for now. 

Remove your shaker pieces from your package. I traced my bottom shaker chipboard piece onto one of the Journaling cards in this collection. Glue onto your chipboard shaker piece using Beacon glue. Trim away any excess paper using an x-acto knife. Using your Distress tool smooth away any rough edges. I applied some Prima Old Rose Chalk Ink  onto my top shaker heart piece. Let dry. I also fussy cut a few hearts from one of my Scrap papers. 

Next glue your next two chipboard pieces in place. Fill your shaker with sequins, glitter, confetti or beads. I chose Clear Scraps Summer sequins Click here now taking your acrylic shaker piece, peel off the protective film from both sides. Then glue in place. Leave undisturbed (no shaking) until throughly dry. Then I glue some white pom pom trim around the edge of my shaker heart!

Now it time to decorate and add your embellishments! I like to rearrange and figure out their placement before adhering to my piece. I applied some foam tape to the back of my shaker before adhering to my Shiplap Heart base. Here's a closeup!

I adhered some wood stickers, Prima flowers, crystals and sticker hearts! Some ephemera pieces I added foam dots to the back before adhering. I love to tuck in some pearls in between my flowers and a few hearts! Here's some closeups!

To finish my home decor piece, I glued some white ruffled crepe paper around the edges of my Shiplap Heart. I think this adds such a nice vintage touch! I added a metal hanger onto the back. Now it's ready to hang!

Valentine Large Heart Shiplap Decor

Hello crafty friends! Happy Valentines Day! It's Jennifer here on the blog to share a fun project I created using the Large Heart Shiplap Shape! I had in mind this will be perfect as a door hanger for future Februarys!  The techniques I  used are simple and I'm going to share them with you today! 

 

Starting with some red chalk paint, I covered the front of my Heart Shiplap Shape; giving it a few coats.  The birch wood accepts the chalk paint nicely and I wanted a bright red result.  I did use my sanding tool to around  the edges to give it a distressed look. 

Next, taking my Beacon-3-in-1 Liquid Adhesive, I  affixed patterned paper to the top and bottom of my Heart Shiplap Shape.  I  cut away any excess paper with my scissors followed by again using my sanding tool.  

I set aside my Shiplap to work on my embellishments.  Using the Dragonflies Chipboard Embellishment Shapes, I  painted each with a light coat of white acrylic paint.  

After allowing my paint to dry, I  applied embossing ink and pink glitter powder  to each of the Dragonflies.  I set with my heat tool and set them aside.  

 

I  added additional patterned paper and embellishments before affixing my Dragonflies Chipboard Embellishment Shapes with my Beacon Liquid Adhesive. 

 

Lastly, using my Big Bite I punched holes in each side of the top of my Shiplap and threaded this cute red gingham ribbon through so I  could hang my creation!

Clear Scraps--DIY Medium Pallet--Irish Blessing Home Decor

Hi there everyone!!  Laura here with you today to share some inspiration for one of my favorite holidays--St. Patrick's Day!!

Have you every created a fun home decor piece?  If you haven't, the Clear Scraps DIY Pallets are a GREAT place to start!  You can make adorable projects for yourself or for friends and family, and you can also choose from multiple shapes available in the Clear Scraps store.  You can find them all HERE.  Looking for an easy place to start--try this Square Medium DIY Pallet I've used for this project.  This one is really easy to work with, but still makes for a beautiful final result!  It's easy to cover with pretty patterned papers like I did with this one, but you could paint it, stain it, stamp it, stencil it, so many possibilities!  Sky's the limit for you to add your own creative touch!  After you are finished with the base, time to decorate!

The Word n Shape Blessed-Truck works perfectly for this St. Patrick's home decor.  The word "blessed" was simple to paint green, add a few enamel dots, then glue onto the project.  Clean and simple!  A little enamel shamrock makes a cute touch.  The sentiment is journal box matted on black cardstock and is just the right size to fit into the back of the truck.

The other part of the Word n Shape Blessed-Truck duo is painted with black paint, and embellished with a small piece of patterned paper and a couple of enamel dots.  A couple of fussy cut shamrocks, enamel dots and alpha letters complete this project. 

There are quite a few choices of the word/figure duos in the Clear Scraps store.  These go with the 3D Frameables which are super cute too!  It's always fun to think outside the box and mix and match pieces from different sets!  Find all the options HERE.

Coffee Talk Memory Card Box

"I don't have a relationship with coffee, coffee has a relationship with ME."  Ha, ha - hi there!  It's Maureen with you today and I'm excited to be sharing one of the newest products from Clear Scraps - the DIY Memory-Dex box and cards!

As is my nature, I like to pick themes that "speak to me."  And coffee definitely does that, ha ha ha!  I wanted this project to be a fun item to flip through but also have the ability to be a gift or functional in its purpose.

I'm starting with assembling the box, which Clear Scraps makes so incredibly easy!  These pieces fit together like a glove and make your job so simple.  Just add glue!

I'm using a tacky glue because I find it to be very easy to work with, but also secure to hold the pieces together.  However, you can use any standard wood glue as well.  I've added glue on each joint, and started with the side and back panel.  After a few minutes, I've added the other side and front panel.

Wipe off any excess glue you see with a wet paper towel or wipe.

Next, I insert the rods into the holes of the smaller wood pieces and then lay that entire section in to the box first.  Then, I squeeze some glue on the back and front of the box bottoms, and push the smaller pieces up against it.  Seriously - this is one easy item to assemble!  It only took a little while to put together and some time to dry.

The outside of the box is decorated in several coffee themed patterns, and I've simply traced the boxes with a pencil.  Any excess edges are trimmed with a detail scissors after gluing on to the sides.

My papers had fun quotes so I cut one of them in strips and added it to both sides of my box, along with a white card stock border.  All edges are dusted with some brown ink, to give it dimension.  I've also stamped a sentiment and added a die cut "coffee" phrase to the front with glue and pop dots.

Now for the cards - I've chosen the Rounded Chipboard Divider file cards for this project, and I'm covering each one with card stock.  I've stamped fun coffee sayings on the fronts, and added assorted patterned papers as strips across or down.  Finish these fronts off with some cute embellishments like small coffee cup die cuts, bows and gems and dust the edges with more brown (or black) ink.

The backs of the cards are also covered in card stock - and I've added an additional piece of card stock to them, to make a pocket.  Glue your pocket only on 3 sides, leaving the top open to slip in a message, gift card...or even coffee supplies!

What a great gift this makes!  What I love about this box is that my other rolodex-style cards fit in it as well, so it is extremely versatile!

Valentine Shaker Card

This is a 5" square card.  I used the 5 X 9 Swirl Hearts Stencil along with Sprinkles Heart Confetti to fill the shaker.

Happy Hearts Valentine DIY Wood Box and Memory-Dex cards

Hello Craft Friends!

I'm Dana and I'm really excited about today's project post. It features the new Clear Scraps DIY Wood Boxes and Memory-Dex cards. There are a variety of size boxes you can create, as well as Memory-Dex cards in acrylic or chipboard! You'll want to collect them all!

For today's project, I'll be using Clear Scraps High DIY Wood box Click here  I'll  also be using a variety of different Memory-Dex cards in both acrylic and chipboard. You can mix the cards up anyway you want and according to what style or theme you chose.  Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I chose hearts and all things to do with love! 

Remove all your pieces from your package. Lay them out on your table, in order of assembly. I applied some Folkart Conch Shell acrylic paint on my bottom piece. Set aside to dry. You could if you like, skip this step and just cover the bottom of your box, with patterned paper. Its up to you! There's no right or wrong way. Just have fun! Here's a look so far:

The papers I chose to decorate the outside of my box as well as my Memory-Dex cards, is Simple Stories "Happy Hearts" collection.  I traced both sides, back and front pieces onto coordinating patterned papers. I trimmed away any excess paper using my x-acto knife.  I inked all my papers using Distress Ink Gathered Twigs before adhering them onto my wood pieces. Here's a photo of one side of my box:

Repeat this process for the other side of your box as well as the front piece. Then glue your box together using a strong and permanent glue like Beacon glue. I held my piece in place a few seconds until the glue holds. Repeat for all pieces, making sure you insert both dowels inside your box before gluing the front and back pieces in place. Here's how it will look once your box is assembled.:

Now the fun begins! It's time to decorate the outside of your box.  When decorating my box, I like to chose a variety of embellishments such as trims, ribbon, stickers, chipboard stickers, and sentiments. This is a great way to use up leftover papers and embellishments you have in your crafty stash! If you're like me, I have too many to count! Lol

Next take the cards of your choice (I liked to mix my cards up using both acrylic and chipboard cards) but its all up to your own preference) then using a variety of patterned papers, cover the front and back of each card. For my chipboard cards, I cut to measure 4 x 2 &3/4 inches. For my acrylic they measure 3 1/2 x 2 3/8 inches. Be sure to peel off the protective film from both sides of your acrylic card before adhering your papers. I recommend removing the protective film from your acrylic card as you go, This prevents you from scratching your acrylic surface on any of your cards. 

I like to add a sentiment, stickers, ephemera to decorate my Memory-Dex cards. Here's some samples of how I decorated my acrylic cards.

Chipboard Memory-Dex cards: I painted the bottom edges using acrylic paint Black (2 total) and one using pink acrylic paint. Let dry.

Then repeat steps as before covering the front and backs with papers and embellishments. I did make some into pocket cards and tucked ephemera pieces inside my pocket! Here's some closeups!

Double Hearts Mini Shaker Layout

Hello everyone! It's Jennifer and I'm back with a layout I created using some fun Clear Scraps products! Valentines Day is almost here and my page is all about love!  I'm going to show you the techniques I used, as well.

 

Starting with white cardstock, I blended in Distress Oxide Inks in pink, red, and yellow at the top and bottom edges of my page.  I  did not worry about it being perfect. 

Next using the 5x9 Plaids Mixer Stencil, I  added a thin layer of Crackle Paste.  

Here is a close up of the end result of the Crackle Paste and the Distress Oxide Ink. 

I set my cardstock aside to work on my Double Heart Mini Shaker Shape. First, I  added patterned paper to the chipboard base of my shaker using Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.  I cut away excess paper with scissors and trimmed the edges with my x-acto knife and sanding tool. 

I painted the two middle chipboard frames with pink chalk paint only focusing on the edges.

For the top chipboard frame, I  colored it with Matte Chalk Polish in Pink.  I applied the polish in a circular motion the the applicator contained in the cap.  

Here is a close up of my Shaker assembled and placed on the layout!
