Merry Christmas
December 01, 2022
Hey guys, it’s Tmika.. with a process tutorial. If you know me, then you know I do not prefer the color purple. I don’t know why, I just don’t. However, when I saw this new paper collection at Scrapbook.com I had to pick it up. It definitely intrigued my shabby chic side and it peaked my interest on loving purple just a teeny bit more. I know my purple people will love reading that, lol!
I making a sign for my craft room, because I love all things shabby and this will fit right in with my other shabby projects. Not much purple there… For obvious reasons… But it’s a start. I started out using the Slimline Acrylic Wave mini album as my base. I absolutely love clear anything! Clear bags, clear totes clear… packaging all of it… So when I saw this I knew exactly what I wanted to do with all of the pieces. I will slowly create some wall art using each of the pieces. The wall art will be pretty substantial as there are five pieces to the set!
I gathered more items from my stash that I knew I was going to use. I grab some puffy stickers, some colored tree branches, flat back pearls, A little lace, and chip board.
After I removed the plastic coating from the front, I started With my brick stencil. I love this 2-piece set called 5 x 9 grunge brick stencil.
I used some white ink and dabbed over the top of the stencil to create my mixed media base. Let that dry for a little bit before moving onto the next part.
After the ink dried on the acrylic piece, I started with my rub ons from the paper collection.
Next up I grabbed a little bit of lace to add to my shabby chic layout. Just a little will do you!
I had some leftover paper flowers that I print and cut out from a previous project. So I decided that they should go on this layout as well since the colors matched perfectly!
I had this gold snowflake in my stash from a few years ago. And I figured it would match perfectly. I cut it in half and laid it on the lay out with a pop dot and some hot glue. I wanted it to peek out from behind the focus point just a little bit.
I pulled some of the papers from the 6x6 paper pad that I wanted to use and cut them into a few strips. I adhere the strips with white glue on top of some chipboard to create a sturdy foundation. I also did a little fussy cutting from some of the flowers in the paper, however I did not use them in the layout. I’ll save those for another time.
I staggered my chip board paper strips on top of each other and secured them with hot glue and a foam dot. I added the other side of my snowflake to even out the layout.
I grab some flowers from my stash and started to prep them. I curled out the ends with a thin paintbrush to create little green curly cues. I also fluffed out the flowers because they had probably been sitting in my flower drawer for a couple months.
I laid coordinating flower colors down on my layout in a nice even spread.
I added the words merry Christmas to my Layout using the gold puffy stickers. I thought it looked perfect on the right of the layout.
And as a final touch, I added some Gold sparkly trim to use as my hanging element. The acrylic album has three holes punched on the side. I covered one hole in the middle with the rub ons. I left the other two open so that I am able to pull the gold trim through. I tried that in the night to secure it and there we go!
I absolutely love how my layout turned out. It definitely touches my shabby chic side. And I may have to give purple a little bit more of a chance, lol! I hope you have enjoyed what I created! Until next time…
Virtual Hugs,
Tmika
