Let It Snow Acrylic Tag

Hi crafty friends! 

The Christmas season has arrived. I love making tags during the season, so join me as I make a mixed media tag today. 

First, we will need one of the tags from the Acrylic Tag Album set. Once you have you chosen one, remove the protective backing from one side. This will be the side will be working on. Now grab your rub-ons and add those all over. Be sure to leave empty spaces throughout. 

 

Now grab your ephemera pieces. I chose to use a mix of acetate images and flowers to embellish this tag. Layer those up to form a colorful base. 

Do not hesitate to play with  height and/or hide parts of your elements. Once you have a base you are happy with, grab one of the Star Bulbs Chipboard Embellishments.

I chose to use a distress oxide sprays to add a base layer of color. I then went in with red embossing powder and added splotches of color to add texture and interest.

Once that is completed, adhere your chipboard bulb to the tag. From there, layer on more elements. I chose to add heat to some of my acetate elements to add movement. This further added interest to the tag as each element was layered on.

Now your tag is pretty much complete. To add sparkle, I used glitter paste. I also used art stones and thread to further embellish.

I then went back in with a bling piece and a ribbon tie for the top of the tag. There you have it. 

I think this tag is so beautiful. Layering elements is something that I have to continuously practice. There is no one way to go about it. Just find elements and a rhythm that works for you.

Christmas Tag Cards

Hello Crafty Friends!

Dana here! The Christmas season will begin soon. I always want to start making my Christmas cards early, but that doesn't always happen. How about you? Today I have some easy Christmas cards you can make in no time. They feature Clear Scraps new chipboard tags!  I chose the Holly Chipboard embellishment Click here  and the Tag Present Chipboard embellishment Click here they the cutest?  

To begin our project I cut apart both tags and chipboard embellishments from the chipboard frame. (Save your outside frame for a future project) 

I covered the small holly embellishment with Stickles Holly Glitter and the berries I used Stickles Candy Cane glitter. The present embellishment I covered with Stickles Gold glitter on the bow. And Copper glitter on the present. Set theses aside to dry. 

Take your tag pieces, and trace onto patterned paper, cut and mark and punch your holes using a paper punch. Then using Beacon glue, I adhered my papers to both tag surfaces. Trim away the excess paper from each tag using a x-acto knife. You can smooth away any rough edges using a Distress tool or sanding tool. The papers I chose are from Crate Paper "Hello Santa" collection. 

The cards I'm using measure 6x6. But you can adjust this to any size cards you have in your crafty stash! My base papers measure 5 3/4 x 5 & 3/4 inches, leaving less than 1/4" white border all around. Glue your base papers onto your card surfaces.  I like to chose what sentiment and embellishments I want to use for decorating my card and plan my placement before gluing down. 

Santa card: Take your holly embellishment and lining up the edges on your tag. Then glue in place. I added some red enamel dots inside the holes on the berries. I fussy cut out this cute Santa and adhered on my tag using foam dots on the back. I added my sentiment along the top ND a white enamel dot over the hole on my sentiment title. Then using foam dots, I adhered December 25th ephemera piece!

Present Tag card: I glued my present embellishment onto my tag just as we previously did on our Holly tag. Then glued my tag in the center of my card. I adhered a holly sticker over the hole on my chipboard tag. A Dazzle sticker Merry Christmas sentiment and Christmas tree sticker. I chose a sentiment and glued at the top of my card. I added some sticker Christmas trees on each side of my chipboard tag. To finish up my card, I adhered some sticker stars in scattered areas on my card.

Gift Wrapping Time

Hello,  it's Sandy Diller here today with a fun little idea.

It's time to shop and wrap up those gifts to place under the tree.  I like to make double duty items for the holidays.  This trio of gift tags can be attached to your packages and then placed on the tree as an ornament.  I like to add a personal note and the year on the back of mine.

I created this fun trio by starting with the Wood Holiday Collection.  I painted them and then added some fun embellishments from my stash of gems and rhinestones.

Welcome Christmas Shiplap Sign

Who is ready to welcome Christmas?  I'm getting ready to pull out the Christmas decorations, as many households are.  Our traditional day to decorate is the day after Thanksgiving.  I'm hoping to replace an older wreath above my fireplace this year, and thought I'd do something different.

Hi it's Maureen today - and I wanted to share a project I did for my mantel that is part sign/part wreath.  I'm calling it my Welcome Christmas decor!

I've started with the Large Shiplap Circle and painted it red.  It took about 3 coats, including edges and sanding it down for a smooth finish.

I'm using the XL Welcome Sentiment Wood Shape, painted in white - both front and sides so you can look at it from any angle.

For some fun, I'm using a battery operated light set and attaching it to the back of the Welcome sentiment.  I started by taping it into place so it's in the correct spots, then I went back over it with glue.  The battery pack is held in there with a strip of ribbon glued to the back like a pocket.

Here's what that looks like all lit up!

For the additional sign highlights, I've chosen the Bell Bulbs Chipboard Embellishment.  These are painted in white along with the sentiment, and then highlighted with glitter glue.

I hadn't quite decided if I was going to hang this sign yet, or put it in an easel, but just in case I did have my husband drill a hole in the top for a hanger.  He's generally better at the tools than I am, ha ha ha!

I also added a simple bow by tying together 6 strips of ribbon together and adding a floral embellishment to the middle for some bling.  This is glued to the top of the circle with either hot glue or tacky glue.

This is going to be so fun at night hanging over my fireplace.  This project is quick and easy so you can get to the holiday festivities faster.  I hope you give it a try as you welcome Christmas in your home!

Clear Scraps Chipboard Embellishments--Family Traditions LO

Hello everyone!  Laura here with you today, sharing

a little scrapbooking inspiration.  I've got a LO that

would be perfect for those Thanksgiving pictures

you are bound to have after spending the day with

family and friends.

It's full of warm fall colors, and family togetherness.

The base is olive green cardstock, and I started

building the layers with one of the Clear Scraps

stencils that has quickly become a favorite!  It's

the 5x9 Leaf Stencil that I dabbed on using a soft

orange/yellow paint.  The stencil gives you 2 great

options to use on all sorts of projects in any season.

After layering in some plaid patterned papers, it

was time to embellish.  I used a few stickers and

twine, and also grabbed some of the Clear Scraps

chipboard.  The Family Chipboard Word Title

is a perfect addition to sum up the LO idea.

It's painted with acrylic paint (same as the

leaves with the stencil) and then brushed

with some distress ink to make it pop a bit.

The  Gnomes Chipboard Embellishment

was decorated by painting his beard with

gray acrylic paint, his little shoes black

(I used a brush for the detail work) and

then I cut a piece of paper in the shape of

of the nose and added paint and ink 'til

I got a look I liked.  While that dried, I

had already traced him onto some pretty

fall patterned scrapbook paper, so it was

time to fussy cut him out, then glue to the

front (hat) or back (beard) of the gnome.

I added a band and some stickers to the hat.

When I glued him to the page, I saved the

nose for last and added foam tape under to

give it some dimension.  Then a few more

stickers across the front and he was done!

Be A Rainbow In Someone Else’s Cloud

Hey everybody it’s Tmika here with a quick post. Have you ever heard the saying, “ Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud“? This is a quote by Maya Angelo. It rings true in so many ways for me. I have a great friend circle which I am so very proud of. Whenever I am in need of a rainbow in my cloud, there’s always someone that I could find to be just that. Whether it’s a listening ear for a venting session or a chitchat, or a shoulder to cry on whether physically or virtually… I am grateful that I have people around me that I could count on.  In this instance, I’ve captured a photo between friends. The three of us have been friends for a very long time. From left to right, myself, Audrey and Sheryl. We met on YouTube and clicked instantly, as a larger group. Now our group has gotten smaller over the years… But that just means more love to go around. And these three amigos are sticking together!

Without going into too much detail, because this is not my story to share… I was able to be part of a rainbow that was in someone else’s cloud. I was so grateful that I was able to be there to give a physical hug, share tears and a few laughs along the way. So today I wanted to share with you guys the short story – a little bit of my life – and this beautiful layout that speaks volumes in and of itself. Let’s get into the details..

This is a 12 x 12 page layout using Basil card stock. I’ve picked up glitter paper from DCWV  and cut them into rainbow strips using my Cameo. I shortened the strip on the right side in order to present my focal piece. My cloud! This is the Cloud Mini Shaker Shape that I added a beautiful sequin mix to. I painted the outside white with acrylic paint and then went over that with glitter.  Because when you are a rainbow you have to shine, right? 

I didn’t want to overcrowd the layout, inadvertently I think I did though… Just because I’m me 🤷🏽‍♀️ I added some of the sequin to my rainbows. Oh, did I mention that I stitched the rainbows on to the layout? No? I stitched the rainbows together on the layout with my sewing machine. In case I hadn’t mentioned it…

 I also typed out the sentiment with some gold mirror paper and laid that out on the side. I used some ephemera from my Maggie Holmes ephemera box. It’s a mix of different collections so I couldn’t pinpoint what belongs to which.  

I drew an outline with a fine tip pen around the border of the layout. I did distress the edges to add some distinction between the two base pages. 

Finally I added some little page flags in the upper right hand corner to fill some of the negative space. 

I felt that I should make the photo black &white because that reads as raw.. which is the emotion 

Im trying to evoke in this layout and post. I hope I have captured that.

Fall Large Milk Can Shiplap Shape

Hello crafters!  It's Jennifer on the blog today to share a project I created using some of Clear Scraps fun Shiplap Shapes!  If you have not had a chance to create with these, you must try them!  There are large and small sizes with a variety of shapes!  I used the Large Milk Can Shiplap Shape as the base of today's project! 

I began by giving the front of my Shiplap shape a light coat of white acrylic paint. I didn't worry about full coverage. 

Next, I took a tea light candle and rubbed wax over the surface of the wood.  (be sure your paint is dry before doing so) Taking orange chalk paint, I applied in sections and scraped off with a scraper (I forgot to take a photo of this step) 

I purchased a 7 inch Embroidery Hoop at a local craft store.  Using brown acrylic paint with water and applied to the front and sides of the hoop. I wanted to give it a stained look.

Next using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive, I applied patterned paper to the middle third of my shape.  I trimmed the excess with my x-acto knife and a healing mat. 

I set aside my Milk Can and painted the Small Cow Head Shiplap Shape with white acrylic paint. I  then sanded the edges with sanding paper to give it a distressed look. 

I cut a sentiment on my Silhouette using black vinyl and applied it to the front of my Cow Head

Using a hot glue gun, I affixed my floral pieces and ribbon to the embroidery hoop.  

Next, I affixed my Cow Head to the left side of the embroidery hoop again with my hot glue gun.

Fall Vintage Truck Tiered Tray Decor

There used to be a home not too far from my house that had an old, beat up truck out front.  You would often see people stopping by to take pictures with it, as it was parked out on some farmland and looked so authentic! 

Hi it's Maureen and I'm here to share a project with you that reminds me of that vintage farmhouse truck.  It's a classic look to any home decor!

This set is part of the Tiered Tray series from Clear Scraps.  Many of the tiered tray items are great sets to decorate with.  If you're not familiar with tiered trays, it's a trendy way to decorate a 2 or 3 layer plate tray with seasonal or themed items.  You include pieces of decor like signs, candles, figurines, etc. and display it in kitchens, on counters...practically anywhere!  They also sell a DIY Tiered Tray to get you started!

I've chosen a basic black and white gingham background and these items with the see through background are covered with patterned paper.  To get a long lasting set, you can attach this with decoupage glue and seal the top if you desire.  I've trimmed them to the shapes required prior to adhering them.

The trims of the set, both front and sides, are done in a black acrylic paint.  This may require 2 coats, depending on the the thickness of your paint.

Some spots have sunflower "peekaboo" areas.  For areas with small spaces, I've used a golden yellow acrylic paint and traced where the area will "peek" out to make sure there is coverage.

For the main sunflower pieces, however, I decided to add a bit more detail.  This larger sunflower and the garland are highlighted with an orange streak of paint down the middle of the flower and then a light brushstroke of white.  I love the dimensional look of this!!

My truck is turquoise paint, much like that truck near my neighbor's house.  It gives a splash of brightness to the set - I've dry-brushed some of the edges in white to make it look a bit older.

Arranging items on a tiered tray takes some practice.  I recommend adding a tall, then short item together.  Try to mix items up together in groupings, such as 1 candle to 2 wood pieces - then move on to another spot and do 1 wood piece and 1 figurine.  The fun comes in designing it yourself!   Keep working at it until the plate space is relatively filled in.

This set comes with a garland which is fun to add to the table, the tray or even nearby in your decor!

Christmas Card Display

It's almost here!  Christmas Card Season that is. 

We love to receive and display the lovely cards we get from friends and family.  It's Sandy Diller with you today and I have a fun way to do it with this festive display board.  

I began this project using the Bulb Medium DIY Pallet Shape.

I painted the Pallet Shape a festive green and then added some gems and some metallic paper strips.  Actually, the paper strips are car detailing that

I found at the auto supply shop.  It is self adhesive as well.

 

 Next came some tiny clothespins from my stash.  I simply glued the clothespins on leaving room for all the cards to be seen.

 

 

To finish off the ornament I painted the top silver and then added some silver crimped paper.

After a hole was drilled in the top I added some ribbon to hang it.

Clear Scraps--Wood & Chipboard Shapes--Pumpkin Patch Home Decor

Hi there everyone!  Laura with you here today to share a

little fall/thanksgiving decor with you!

This starts with a great basic--the Clear Scraps Wood Shapes.

The best part is, the 2 types I've used here come in THREE

packs!  You can make 3 different projects using these

together to create, or you could use them individually

as well!   These would make such awesome gifts--how

about a hostess gift if you are heading to Thanksgiving

at a friend's or family member's house?!!

I've used the Wood Deco 3 Pack,

and the Wood Rectangle 3 Pack for this project.

The are both traced/cut out out from pretty

patterned paper and then glued down to cover the

wood pieces.  You can paint them or stain them,

or--whatever you'd like to do.  Part of the creative fun!

Next thing, I brushed the edges with some distress ink.

I kept it super simple for this project.  Just a couple of

journal cards, stickers, and enamel dots  from a collection

kit, and then the embellishments from Clear Scraps,

the Pumpkins Chipboard Embellishments, and the

Stack Pumpkins Chipboard Embellishments.  I cut out

pieces of patterned paper to glue onto the back of the

pumpkins to give them a pop of color.  The front

of these pieces was painted with orange and green

acrylic paint.  It give a nice frame to the multi-

color papers behind them. 

They make a great focal point for this project and so super

simple to create!  Love making home decor whether it's

for decorating my own home, or for gifting to friends and family!

Give Thanks Memorydex Card

Hi crafty friends!

 

Today I am sharing a a beautiful pink autumn memorydex card. If you are not aware of what a memorydex card is, it is basically an updated version of a roladex used for memory keeping. It also serves as a way to share your art with someone else. You can add a message, photo, or journaling to the back. 

 

My memorydex card features gold stitching and tons of layering. I used the Fancy Butterflies Chipboard Embellishment and the 4x6 Plaid Stencil  for this projects. Once I layered my base papers for the memorydex, I used the Plaid Stencil to add some texture using modeling paste. While that dried, I covered one of the Fancy Butterflies with nuvo drops. 

Once everything was dried, I added a little color to the areas that were stenciled and then began layering all of elements. I treated this memorydex card just as I would have a regulars A2 or Slimline greeting card that I create. Finally I went back in and added some shimmer and small details.

 

 

Now my memorydex card  is complete. I think I will send this to crafty friend to show have grateful and thankful I am for them in this season.

Gather Tall Pumpkin Pallet

Tami here on the Clear Scraps Blog with a project I'd like to show you.

It's hard to believe Thanksgiving will be here in a little more than a WEEK! Are you ready? Got your menu and shopping list done? Working on getting your home ready for company? "Company clean" always instills a certain panic in me ;)

How about fall decor? Is your home all decked out in autumn finery? If you could use just a little more fall crafting take a look at this...

I used the Tall Pumpkin Wood Pallet Shape and Gather XL Script Wood Word to make it.

I like the color aqua and I've noticed that lots of fall decor is incorporating the color. The accent walls in my living room are painted in several shades of aqua. I used some paint that closely matches the colors in the room as the base for the pumpkin so it would coordinate. Not all pumpkins have to be orange do they?

Once the pumpkin had been painted, I added accents of orange and brown and blended them in with a bit more aqua to create a distressed look.

The Gather Wood Word was painted with a brownish orange paint and distressed with brown paint applied with a dry brush.

I adhered the word to the lower portion of the pumpkin...

then tied a burlap ribbon bow and some fall foliage around the stem of the pumpkin...

I haven't decided if I'll put this on display on my buffet table or hang it on my door on Thanksgiving. I actually have a wreath hanger on the inside and outside of my front door, so I'm thinking this would be perfect to decorate the inside side of my door.

Turkey Jar Mini Shaker

Hello everyone!  Does it seem like Thanksgiving comes faster every year?  I know it sounds cliche' but it seems to be true!  It's Maureen with you today and I decided since Thanksgiving is coming fast, I should figure out a quick project that you could do in one sitting.  It's a turkey magnet!

Now you may remember...I made one last year too!  I'm pretty particular to turkey art, ha ha ha.  I have a collection of these on my fridge.  This one is using the Mason Jar Mini Shaker and it's an adorable idea, whether you create it with your kids or simply to give away to a dinner host for the holidays.

I've started with a base of kraft paper cut in the shape of the jar.  Then, taking some brown Distress ink, I'm stenciling on a pattern with the Houndstooth 6" Masking Stencil.  This gives it adorable texture without going overboard on a paper pattern and it's one of my favorite stencils.

Glue the base on to the bottom piece of the shaker, and then apply 2 of the border pieces.  Then, I've filled the shaker using the Fall Sequins mix.  This is one of my go-to color combos...I use it all the time!

Using a dryer sheet, I like to rub the inside of my acrylic piece to eliminate static before I glue it over the sequins.  Note - make sure you take off the protective liner on both sides too.

Now, for the top border, I am using a brown permanent marker.  This is a fast way to get to color without the mess of paint, and the chipboard takes the color well.  Glue this on to the very top.

It's time to "dress your turkey."  Ha ha ha!  I'm using a die cut for a Thanksgiving hat from my stash and adding it to the top of my shaker.  You could cut this in either paper, like me, or in felt!  The front face pieces are also die cuts.  I've used a heart for the beak and, you guessed it, a candy cane for the wattle!  Really!!

My eyes are another die cut which is simply a zig zag pattern cut up to look like eyelashes.  And don't forget a cute little bow!

Now, if you wanted to use this as a magnet, here is a picture of how I would assemble the back.  Glue the feathers down first, trimming off any bulky tips.  Then, take a sheet of magnet paper from any craft store and glue it over the feathers.  Given the weight, make sure you have enough magnet to hold it up!

Ahh Autumn Home Decor Project

Hello Crafty Friends!

Dana here! Autumn is a season full of color! I love creating my own home decor pieces to display in my home. Clear Scraps has a awesome variety of products to help you create that one of a kind piece you can cherish for years to come.

For Today's project I'm using a variety of different Clear Scraps products, including one of the new Shiplap Small shape Circle Click here

The papers I chose to use are Graphic45 Fashion Forward collection, 12x12 October and November papers. I traced around my Wood Deco Shape onto the "B" side of the October paper. Cut it out and using Beacon glue I adhered this paper onto my wood shape. Then using my x-acto knife I trimmed away any excess paper. Then with a Distress or sanding tool, I smoothed any rough edges. 

Take your Clear Scraps Shiplap Circle-small I whitewashed some Chalk Paint "Milk Jug " using a paintbrush. Then I applied some Orange Spice paint over top in the same whitewash technique as before. Set aside to dry throughly. 

Now remove your shaker pieces from your package. Take your bottom shaker piece and trace onto patterned paper. I chose "You are a Classic " journal card.  Cut and glue your paper onto your bottom piece. Trim away any excess paper using an x-acto knife. Then smooth any rough edges as we did with our Deco piece.

Taking your top shaker piece, I applied some "Fire Opal" glitter over the surface. Shake off any excess glitter and set aside to dry. Once it fully dries, I glued my next two chipboard layers over top of my bottom shaker piece. Now add any shaker filler of your choice, I chose these pretty Fall sequins from Clear Scraps. Click here

Then take your acrylic piece, peel the protective film off both sides before gluing down. Add your top shaker glitter piece on top. Set aside to dry throughly before shaking! 

I added some foam dots to the back of my Shiplap shape and shaker, before adhering in the center of my  wood Deco piece. This adds some dimension to my project. 

Now the fun part of decorating your piece! I cut out some sentiments, diecut some foliage pieces, and Prima flowers! I arrange my pieces and make sure of their placement before gluing onto my design piece. 

To finish off my design, I applied some Graphic45 Matte Pearl gems on all 4 sides of my wood Deco Shape. I also glued some Orange/silver tinsel around the edges of my Deco Shape. Then add a metal hanger or some ribbon to the back for hanging.

YOU & ME

Hey everybody it’s Tmika here with a quick block post to share. When I saw the YOU & ME wood desk frame, I absolutely had to have it! I knew the perfect picture that would go inside. I chose a picture of me and my husband at a baseball game when we were dating… I think it looks absolutely perfect in this frame! What do you think?

I absolutely loved how it turned out! This was super easy to put together and decorate. After all, the words speak for itself. I started out with painting the base with gesso. The next step is to paint two coats of this beautiful mustard colored acrylic paint. Once that dried I added white ink around the edges for a bit of a distressed look. After everything had dried I glued all the pieces together with hot glue. I added a little gold trim around the edges for a touch of sparkle…

I added my picture to the back of the outer heart layer. I glued it together with hot glue and added gold trim to the edges. Then I secured the outer heart layer to the base. And Voila, I’m done!  Now for some final touches…

I created a rosette with some scrap paper and laid that on my photo vase. I added puffy stickers from this Maggie Holmes collection to add to my collage. A cute little matching mustard colored flower and gold leaves finish off this focal point. The frame says you and me and the tiny little  ‘HAPPY’ Gold sentiment,  completes the sentiment.
