Hello Sunflowers Acrylic Sign

Hola!

Tami here with a project I'd like to show you.

I wanted to try out my new paint pens on acrylic and decided to try them using Clear Scraps 6" Sunflowers Stencil and 12 X 12 XL Deco Squares Acrylic.

I have used techniques where you draw on, paint or ink both sides of the acrylic before and thought that would work well for this project. I love how bright and shiny the paint looks viewed from the front...

here are closeups of the sunflowers and the wood word...

I started by removing the protective film from ONE side of the acrylic. I then used a fine point sharpie to draw in the sunflowers across the entire square, letting the designs go off the edges.

Next, I FLIPPED the acrylic over and removed the protective film from the other side. I used brown, orange and yellow pens to fill in the outlines I made on the other side. Then let the paints dry. From the side you are painting on, the inks look opaque and not that perfect. But the magic happens when you turn the piece over! When viewed from the front - the side I used the Sharpie to outline the designs - the paints are bright, shiny and look very smooth and even.

I decided the piece needed a little something more, so I found the Hello XL Script Wood Word in my Clear Scraps stash. I used the white pen to add a cross-hatch pattern all over it. Then outlined in brown to define it. I used Zip Dry to adhere the sentiment to the lower portion of the sign.

You can display it on a stand as I have done here, or maybe punch holes in the top and hang it.
