Hello Craft Friends!
It's Dana and I'm back on the Clear Scraps blog with a mini album project I hope you'll like. Mini albums are one of my favorite things to craft. Clear Scraps has many new album styles to choose from. The one we'll be using today, is the Chip layer tabbed album Click here
In addition to that we will be using Clear Scraps Dragonflies chipboard embellishment Click here
I adore fairies and whimsical designs. So these papers from Memory Place "Enchanted " collection were just what I was looking for.
This album measures 5x8 inches, not including the tabs. First I covered both the front and back covers and all the inside pages using a variety of coordinating papers from this collection. Note: both the last album page and back cover measures 6 & 1/2 x 8 inches. The tabs measure 1 &1/2 inches x 2 inches. I covered all the tabs with wood patterned papers. I did use Distress Ink Gathered Twigs and inked all of my papers before adhering. I recommend using Beacon glue it is perfect for chipboard and it won't buckle your papers. Set your pages aside for now.
Dragonflies embellishment: cut apart one of the Dragonflies from your chipboard piece. You can save the other dragonfly for a future project. I painted the antennas, body and head using a black paint pen. Then added craft glue to both wings. Then sprinkled some Martha Stewart Florentine gold glitter onto both wings. Shake off any excess glitter. Set aside to dry.
Front cover: I fussy cut the fairy holding the flower, inked along the edges and adding foam dots to the back. Adhere your fairy over the matching image on your cover paper. I added some Stickles Stardust glitter to her dress and the flower petals. Then glued my chipboard dragonfly towards the bottom of my page. I chose a sentiment piece from the ephemera pack, curled both ends of my sentiment piece using a bone folder. This adds some lift and dimension. To finish my cover, I stamped a sentiment using black ink onto my tab.
Page 1: I cut out three 3x4 Journaling cards from the 12x12 paper and scored 1/2 inch at the top. Then adhered as a waterfall on my page. I added a piece of lace at the top of my waterfall cards.
Page 2: I took some cream cardstock and cut to measure 3 & 1/2 x 5 inches and adhered as a photo mat. I cut out a tag sentiment and glued towards the top. I added a gem over the hole on my tag. I took one of the fairies from the ephemera pack and adhered at the bottom of my photo mat, using foam dots. I stamped some images on each of the tabs.
Page 3: I just added a gem over the hole on the tag.
Page 4: I created a pocket page. The pocket measures 5x 3 &1/2 inches. Don't forget to punch a hole on the left side before gluing! I tucked a few small Journaling cards from the journal pack, into my pocket. I adhered a Dream sentiment at the bottom of my pocket using foam dots. Then taking one of your border pieces from the 12x12 papers, cut and glue at the top of your page. On the left tab, I cut a sentiment phase from one of my papers and glued onto my tab. For the right tab, I stamped a few images of Stars, and Butterflies.
Page 5: I took another sentiment from the ephemera pack and glued towards the top of my page. I couldn't bear to cover this pretty paper so I left it blank!
Page 6: For the last page, I adhered another photo mat in the center. I tore an image from one of my Scrap papers, inked along the edges and glued along the top of my page. Using foam dots, I adhered acouple lantern pieces from the ephemera pack. Then using more foam dots I adhered another fairy at the bottom of my page.
To finish this album, I tied and knotted acouple charms on a piece of thread, and glued behind the sentiment on my cover. Then I tied some ribbons and gold tulle through each hole of the album and tied into a bow! Inside on several fairy images I applied some glitter on their dresses, using a clear Sparkle pen.
Here are some closeups:
I hope I have inspired you today and you will want to create your own album. These new albums would be great for creating journals. Maybe I'll create one for you in a future project!
