America the Beautiful

Hi there Craft Friends!

It's Dana and I'm back on the Clear Scraps blog with another Home Decor project to celebrate 4th of July! I love to decorate my home for every holiday or season!

Today we'll be using Clear Scraps WoodStars 3 pack Click here  (such a great value) and Clear Scraps Star shaker! Click here  The papers I chose are from Frank Garcia's "Americana" paper collection. I love the vintage style papers.

To begin our project, I traced around my wood Star piece with my pencil. Cut out and using Beacon glue, I adhered my patterned paper to the front of my wood Star shape. Then using I trimmed away any excess paper, using my x-acto knife. Then using a Distress tool, I smoothed all around the edges of my Star shape.

Next take out your shaker pieces and taking your bottom shaker piece, I traced around my Star shape with my pencil onto another patterned paper. Glue your paper onto your bottom piece. Trim and Distress along the edges, as we did previously with our wood Star shape. Take your top shaker piece and decorate with paint, or as I did using red glitter. Set this aside to dry.

Now glue the next two bottom chipboard shaker pieces on the bottom shaker piece. Fill the inside with any shaker filler you prefer. I cut acouple blue stars from my paper sheet and added them inside my shaker. Now taking the acrylic shaker piece, peel off the protective film from both sides before gluing on top of the previous layer. To finish I glued the top shaker piece in place. Set aside to dry throughly before shaking! After your shaker has dried, I painted around the sides of my shaker with some red acrylic paint. Let dry.

While your shaker is drying, I cut out a Journaling card from one of my papers. And I fussy cut a sentiment from my element sheet. I curled both ends of my sentiment using a bone folder. This will add some lift and dimension. I adhered my Journaling card to the center of my wood Star shape, using foam tape onto the back. I added glue just in the center of my sentiment and adhered below my journal card. Now you can glue your shaker Star on the right edge.

To finish this project, I added some pretty navy blue/gold ribbon to the back of my Star using my hot glue gun. Now it's ready to hang!

Here are some closeups!
