Large Chicken Shiplap Shape
June 28, 2022
Hello! It's Jennifer to share one of the fabulous new Shiplap Shapes with you! These new wood shapes are so fun to work with to create home decor projects! I used the Large Chicken Shiplap Shape to create a fun sign to hang in my kitchen! And I'm going to show you my techniques!
I began by painting the majority of the Shiplap Shape with chalk paint in off white. I did not worry about perfect coverage as I wanted a distressed look for my project.
Next, I cut a funny sentiment on my Silhouette with red vinyl. I used transfer tape to apply it to my Shiplap.
Using washi tape, I sectioned off the feet of the chicken to paint them in red chalk paint. I also painted the tail feathers and beak. I found that the paint was too flat so I used sanding paper to add a distressed effect.
Here is a close up of the vinyl on the Shiplap! I used a glossy vinyl; in hindsight I wish I would have used a matte finish.
Using my hot glue gun, I adhered ribbon and a rolled flower to the neck of my chicken. I finished by adding some jute string to hang my creation in my kitchen!
