Shiplap Heart Photo Board

How often do you put pictures out on display?  Do they stay on your phone or do you get a chance to print them for albums?  Hi - it's Maureen today, with a display board idea that may help get your photos off of your phone, and on your wall!

I am bad about getting photos printed - but, there are such good ones I have that I want to put on display, so I decided to do something about it!  This project, using the Large Heart Shiplap Wood Shape, was perfect to get some of our recent photos from vacation out in the open.

I've started by painting a base layer of white acrylic paint on to 2 of the striped wood panels and a layer of turquoise on the other 2 panels.  These colors are my color scheme in my craft room!  It helped me to get crisp lines by using a little bit of painters tape.

Next, I stapled a sheer polka dot ribbon in a loop on the back of the heart.  It might take a stronger wood staple gun to help the ribbon stay put.  I did the same with 2 lengths of the same ribbon going across my heart.  It's a good idea to have someone help you pull these tight, or use clothespins like I did, so your photos will stay in place.

On our trip, we got to travel to Disney World, and since my craft room has a Disney theme, I added the Mini Wood Mouse Pallet to my design.  This shape I painted in a black acrylic paint, then hot glued it to the lower left corner of the heart.

I've added a small, white felt heart to the crossed sections of my ribbon and the mouse pallet, giving the board a look that mimics a soft photo display board.  This is glued on to the pallet, and also helps the photos stay in place.

My final additions are a couple of card stock sentiments, using a stash of die cuts I had.  These are done in black and white paper.

I really love this design because it is so easy to assemble, yet looks striking on a white wall in my room.  What colors would you choose for this project?

A short supply list is below if you decide to make this yourself.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you next time!
