Hello Crafters!
Dana here! I'm excited to share my Home Decor project using the brand new Shiplap shapes from Clear Scraps! Be sure to take a look at all the fun shapes and sizes available. Click Here
Today for my project I chose the Circle Shiplap Shape large Click Here and House Shiplap Shape Click Here small.
To begin our project I took some chalk paint and a sponge brush and painted the front side of my round Shiplap Shape. Let dry.
Next I taped my Clear Scraps New Grunge Brick stencil Click Here in place onto my wood surface. Then with my pallet knife I spread some Crackle texture paste over my stencil. Scrape off any excess. Carefully lift off your stencil and let dry. I repeated this step on another section of my wood surface. Let your crackle dry throughly overnight before you go to the next step. I recommend you don't use a heat tool to dry the crackle. You'll get better crackle results letting it air dry.
Now we can add some color to our crackle stenciled surface. I chose to use Spectrum Noir inks and a Distress ink along with an ink dabber and gently rubbed three different color inks over my stenciled areas.
Now set aside and take your House Shiplap Shape and decorate the top surface. I chose to decorate my house shape with Mintay papers but you can paint, ink or decorate however you like. I chose 2 different coordinating papers and cut and glued to my house using Beacon glue. Then I cut away any excess paper using my x-acto knife and then took my sanding tool and smoothed around all the edges. To decorate my house shape, I added some chipboard sticker sentiments and circle shape from one of the coordinating papers. I also added a cute puffy sticker heart on the chimney!
Here's a closeup!
Now the fun part is decorating your Shiplap Shape! I fuzzy cut some images from my papers and inked around all the edges. I like to arrange the placement of my pieces, before adhering them to my project. I added foam tape to the back of my Shiplap house shape before adhering down onto my round Shiplap piece. This adds some dimension which I love. I added foam dots to some of my embellishments and some matching stickers. Then I added a few crystal gems in scattered areas on my project. Added alittle glitter to my butterflies wings!
To finish, I took two pieces of light blue and Pink Tulle and with hot glue I attached a hanger to the back of my wood shape. Now it's ready to display on your wall.
Here's some closeups!
I hope you were inspired today and you'll want to try creating some for yourself or as a gift to surprise someone special! Thanks again for visiting the Clear Scraps blog! Don't forget to check out all the new products on the Clear Scraps website Click Here
