Flag Mini Shaker Acrylic Card

Hello friends! Its Jennifer here on the blog today to share an acrylic card I created using one of the fun Mini Shaker Shapes from Clear Scraps.  There are multiple designs to choose from that will fit whatever theme or holiday you need!  Since it is Memorial Day here in the US, I created a patriotic themed project using the Flag Mini Shaker. And I will share the techniques I used! 

I began by painting the front chipboard frame as well as the inside/outside edges of the middle frames with chalk paint in red.  You don't necessarily have to use chalk paint but it does dry quickly. And I liked the color!

Using my Beacon Adhesive, I adhered patterned paper to the chipboard base of the shaker.  I trimmed away excess paper with scissors followed by using an x-acto knife and sanding tool. 

I cut a 4 x 5 1/2 inch piece from the 12x12 Acrylic Sheet for my card front.  Then using the 4x6 Stars Stencil, I applied a layer of modeling paste over the top. 

Once my paste was dry, I re-positioned my stencil and blended red and blue Distress Inks as shown.  As you can see, I left the middle "blank" for white. 

Here is a close up of the Flag Mini Shaker that I filled with traditional sequins and metallic stars.  I adhered it to the front of my card again using my Beacon Adhesive.  

I also added smaller embellishments such a die cut shapes as well as enamel dots for accent!

Country Fresh Shiplap Milk Can

Hello Crafty Friends!

I'm Dana and I'm thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today. Have you seen all the new Shiplap wood shapes from Clear Scraps? There are a variety of shapes and sizes to fit any decor! 

For my project today, I chose the Clear Scraps Shiplap Milk Can (large) to match my Farmhouse Decor. Click Here 

To begin I painted the surface of my Shiplap Milk can using Folk art Chalk paint Whispering Wheat and let this dry.

Then I painted over the top coat with Folk art Chalk paint Milkjug and let this dry.

Next I took one of the many new stencils from Clear Scraps  ( I'm using the Grunge/Brick mixer stencil)  Click Here and taped it down onto my wood shape securely. I love that these stencils have 2 different stencil designs in one. I took my palette knife and spread some Ranger texture paste crackle over the top of my stencil. Let it dry overnight to achieve more cracks. 

Take some Distress ink Gathered Twigs and with your sponge dabber lightly rub the ink over your stenciled surface. I rub off some of the ink on my dabber before applying. I still want some of the paint to show through. Then I painted the top of my Milkjug with some brown acrylic paint. 

I measured a piece of paper 8 & 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches, distressed the edges using my Distress tool. Then using some Distress ink, I inked all the edges of my paper. Then using Beacon Glue, I adhered my paper in the center of my wood shape. I traced and cut another piece of paper. Distressed and inked along the edhes before adhering to the bottom left corner. Making sure my edges are rounded. 

Next I cut apart 2 chipboard gears from Clear Scraps Cog Gears chipboard embellishments. Click Here

You can save the others for a future project. Using a stiff brush, I applied 3 different Rust pastes (gold, red and brown)onto each gear chipboard piece, using a punching motion. Keep layering the rust pastes until you achieve the desired look you like.

 Next I took some jute cord and wrapped it several times around the top area of my Milkjug. Then tied my jute cord into a bow. Then hot glued a Prima flower on top. Then added a sticker sentiment along the left side of my flower!

Now you can arrange your embellishments and create the design you want. I took one of the cute journaling cards with the cow, added foam tape to the back, then adhered towards the bottom left side of my wood shape. I glued my chipboard gears in place using Beacon glue. I decorated the top of one gear with a Rooster ephermera piece,  adding foam dots to the back before adhering in the center.

The other smaller gear on the bottom right corner, I adhered a cute wooden spool!

At the top I added foam dots to the back of my ephermera piece "Country Fresh" and adhered a chipboard sticker button below.

Tagged The Most Beautiful Yard!

Hey everybody! Leslie here sharing a super cute 'award' in the form of a large tag featuring our 5x9 Leaves Stencil and our Mini Shaker Award Ribbon. This was aimed at my hubby and started out as kind of a joke. He has the greenest thumbs I've ever seen and I keep telling him he deserves an award... you wouldn't believe the difference in our front and back yards now compared to when we moved into our house and year and a half ago!



I worked on the Mini Shaker Award Ribbon first. I colored the top chipboard form and the edges of the other chipboard forms and back with a teal alcohol marker. I adhered white cardstock to the award area of the chipboard back and blue metallic cardstock to the ribbon tails. Using the left side of the 5x9 Leaves Stencil and the same distress inks, I stenciled a small background area on a sheet of cardstock and printed a computer-generated award sentiment. I trimmed it and adhered it as a layer to the award area of the chipboard back. Working from the bottom up, I adhered the next two chipboard forms and added a pinch of shaker mix. I then adhered the acrylic divider (with the protective film removed from both sides) and the top chipboard form. I clamped it for about 10-15 minutes to ensure that the layers adhere well.



Next, I worked on the tag base which I cut from white cardstock. Using the right side of the 5x9 Leaves Stencil and several distress inks, I stenciled the background for the left side of the tag. I adhered a panel to the right side of the tag cut from teal cardstock, and added a strip of teal glitter washi tape to the seam. I adhered the shaker and then added garden tool brads, lawn mower brads and a sunglasses brad. I adhered another layer of cardstock to hide the brad prongs and to provide a little extra stability to the tag. I created a hole reinforcement from white cardstock using two circle punches, and threaded ribbon and crafting cord through the hole. The finishing touch was adding several turquoise glitter enamel dots.

Clear Scraps Printer Tray--Patriotic

Hello everyone!  Laura here with you today to

share a great home decor project to show your

patriotic spirit!!  It's great for 4th of July but

it could be displayed for Memorial Day too!

This project was created using the Clear Scraps

Square Printers Tray Frame.

I took the top frame first and painted using white

and gray acrylic paint brushed on top to create a

weathered wood/window frame look.  On the back

piece of the tray, I glued down a piece of patterned

paper that looked like an American flag with the

stars and stripes.  Then it's just creating a little

individual "scene" in each of the squares.

One of the fun tricks with these trays is to

layer the pieces you use to give it depth.

This shows the separate squares that are decorated UNDER

the acrylic layer.  Before the acrylic layer is added and the

top frame and decor on the outside goes on.

Same here as well.  It looks a bit plain before the pieces that

are glued onto the top of the acrylic, once the top frame

piece goes onto the tray.  In this next picture, you can see

it really makes such a difference!

Don't be afraid to play with different ideas with

these trays!  They really are a lot of fun, and they

make great home decor pieces as well as great gifts!

 

And just a reminder:  Make sure to take the protective

film off of both sides of the acrylic.  And if you plan on

sequins--make sure you add them before you glue down

that acrylic layer!  I may speak from experience....haha!

For this project, I used the Clear Scraps Winter Sequin Mix. 

Strange to think Winter Mix, but they have the perfect red,

white and blue for this project!

Small Shiplap Milk Can Guest Sign

Tami here with you on the Clear Scraps Blog today with a project I'd like to share with you.

Clear Scraps has added some brand spanking new Shiplap Wood Shapes to their line; the pieces come in small or large.

I used one of the small sizes - the Milk Can - to create this hanging sign...

It seems like I'm always adding extra towels to the towel bar to "fill it up" for guests. I don't know why I feel like I NEED to use up ALL the space on the towel bar when I have guests over, maybe it was something my Mom did ;)

But looking at this cute little Milk Can shape, I decided maybe it would look cute hanging from the towel bar instead of an extra towel or two. It would also be nice to hang on the door of your guest room. 

I painted the wood white and while it was drying, I started fussy cutting flowers out of printed paper scraps. I also cut the sentiment from printed paper. I'm ashamed to admit it (well, not really) but I save those trash strips off printed paper. You know, the white strips with the company and paper names. Usually, there is a strip showing what paper is on the other side. Those little 1/2" strips make nifty little borders and trims. So I put a couple of them to use for this project as the band around the bottom and neck of the can.

I kept layering flowers until I was happy with how it looked. Since this piece will potentially have water coming towards it, I gave it a nice matte clear coat.

I glued the ribbons to tie it on the towel bar - or door knob - on the back. Make sure they are long enough to tie in a pretty bow.

I may reuse this idea for the holidays! I think it is a nice addition to my towel bar! LOL!

Home of the Brave Clipboard Magnet

Don't you just love summer and all the patriotic holidays?  I certainly do - it starts with Memorial Day, then Flag Day, the Fourth of July and finally Labor Day too.  I'm sure I've missed a few!  Hi, it's Maureen today - and I have a little bit of Americana decor to share with you, to celebrate these great holidays.

I've made a clipboard magnet from the Clear Scraps shiplap shapes.  Today I'm using the Small House Shiplap wood shape, which is the perfect background to use with the saying "Home of the Brave."  This little clipboard can be used in so many ways:  a picture frame, a post it note holder or even to hold important papers too!

The first step in making this cute little house is to trace its shape on to a patterned piece of paper.  I chose one that looks like denim and cut it out.  Since my item is staying inside the house, I simply glued it on to my Small House Shiplap wood piece with some tacky glue.

Next, I've added another patterned paper stripe down the middle - this one looks like a red bandana! After you apply the paper background, you can seal your project with a little bit of decoupage if you'd like.

From here, I'm taking a small clip embellishment that I bought at a local craft store and glued it into place with hot glue.  I make sure this dries completely, and tested it to see if it opens - just to make sure it didn't get glued shut.

Okay, now I'm adding some red, white and sparkle!  I really love the adorable Mini Flag Shaker chipboard piece...it's so fun as a display next to this little house!  This has a background paper on the bottom layer, glued into place.  Inside, I'm filling this with a few blue and silver confetti pieces along with some plastic stars.  These just happen to also glow in the dark!

Then, on the flag's top layer, I've painted it in a blue acrylic paint and let dry.  Glue the acrylic panel in place, being certain to remove both liners first.  Then, glue on the top blue panel.

For my saying, I liked some of the fonts on my electronic cutting machine, so I printed "Home of the Brave" in a red pen from that machine.  It is then mounted on a red card stock paper.

I glued the flag on the right side of the shiplap house piece, using a hot glue gun.  To lay my saying across the bottom, I needed a few layers of foam on the left side so it would lay flat.  This quote is glued into place with some tacky glue.

Now, it's just adding the magnet pieces on the back!  This was also glued into place with a hot glue gun.  Several pieces are necessary to make sure your clipboard doesn't fall off your refrigerator.

I love this project!  I can use it as a post-it note holder, and display it on my refrigerator.  There's even room for a little bow at the top.

Or, if I wish, I could also display a picture of my favorite military hero.  What a great project this would be for a veteran's organization!

The display is even cute all by itself.  I really had fun with this project and I hope you get a chance to try out some of the Clear Scraps Shiplap items this summer!  A brief supply list is below.  Cheers to the red, white and blue!  See you next time!

Making Memories on Daytona Beach!

Hi everybody! Leslie here, sharing another 3-D Frameable project. If you haven't tried these, you really need to! The interchangeable frames, shapes and words make them so versatile and so much fun! I used the Base with Square Frame and Word n Shape Summer-Flip Flops and created this project to document a memory from May 1978 that is still just as fresh in my mind as it was that day! My BFF got a brand new 1978 Chevy Camaro which we drove up and down the strip on Daytona Beach - back in the day when people were allowed to actually drive on the beach. Gosh, we had a great time!



I painted the Summer word with yellow acrylic paint and the flip flops with orange acrylic paint and let them dry. I embellished the flip flops with enamel flowers and clear bling.



I covered the smaller oval base with green dotted paper, the larger oval base with yellow striped paper, and the frame with red and white striped paper. I added acetate to the back of the frame to keep the photo clean and free of dust (which unfortunately casts weird shadows on the photo, lol). I adhered the frame to the wood backing and let it dry overnight with clips. That's me on the right, by the way. ;)





I added a pink scalloped strip to the top edge of the frame and added white die cut letters spelling 'daytona beach' and then adhered pink strips to the left and right edges for a finished look. I added the date using white die cuts along with sunglasses and beach umbrella brads.

Clear Scraps 3D Frameable--Congrats Grad!

Hi there everyone!  Laura here with you today to

share a project that would make a great new grad

gift or a nice memento for your home or desk

to remember the big day!

Love these frameables!  They are so fun and easy to create

and they look amazing!  Step one is to pick out your base. 

I used the Base with Deco Frame.  There are several options

to choose from, you can find the others in the Clear Scraps

store HERE.  Then paint it, spray it, stamp it, cover it

with patterned paper, it's up to you! This frame was painted

with yellow acrylic paint, then decorated with strips of

patterned paper, enamel dots, and the tag that

describes the date and event. 

The base piece was painted with black acrylic paint and

then brushed with the yellow around the edge of the smaller

piece to add a little pizzazz.  This is another piece that can be

covered with paper or stamped or whatever you'd like.

Step 2 is to choose your theme/insert set.  Here the obvious

choice was the Word n Shape Congrats Hat set.   The hat is

painted with the black and yellow acrylic paint, then I added

a sticker and a twine bow.  Super simple!  The Congrats word

to give it a little texture and interest I painted it black and then

sponged on the yellow paint, then added a few enamel dots.

After that it's all glued together and done!  It's great that

you can choose the theme/insert that fits your project.

This is Us - Steampunk Style

Hello Crafty Friends,

It's Sandy Diller here today with a fun little project that I created using the fabulous This Is US Desktop Frame.  I love Steampunk and all the images, gears, cogs and top hats that go with it.   I had some fun with photo editing and got out some of my favorite things from my stash.  Our grandson recently visited so I used a photo of him and grandpa in a playful way.

 

 

 

I began by embossing some metallic paper and covering the frame base.

 

 

Some editing was done to the photo by removing the background and adding some clipart top hats.

 

 

I used another embossing folder to add gears and texture to the top frame piece.

 

 

All the frame elements were layered together.

 

 

I covered the frame with Foundry Wax and then heat set.  I added an extra color to give the project that rusted look.  Everything was heat set to make it permanent.

 

 

After digging around in my stash I found what I wanted to add to the frame making it as steampunk as possible.

 

I glued everything in place and then added a little fun to the photo using some small dies and gears.

Bee Happy Shaker Album

Hello Crafters!

Dana here! May is finally here and I look forward to warmer temperatures, blooming flowers and sunshine! Today I'm sharing a album project featuring one of our cute new mini shaker Beehive Click Here

And Clear Scraps 8x8 tabbed chipboard album Click Here 

To begin our project, I covered all my chipboard pages with a variety of coordinating papers from Simple Stories new Full Bloom collection. I'll be using both the 12x12 and 6x8 paper pads. All pages measure 8x8 inches. Be sure to punch your holes before adhering your papers to your album. I recommend using a Strong bond glue like Beacon 3 in 1 glue. We will cover the tabs later. 

To utilize all our scraps and conserve paper, some of my pages I pieced them together leaving the branding strip attached at the top. This way you can get 2 pages out of one paper. 

Set your album aside for now. We will work on our shaker next. I traced my bottom shaker piece onto my Bee paper. Cut out and glue to your shaker surface. Trim along the edges using an xacto knife. Then using your sanding or Distress tool, smooth around all the edges. Take your top shaker piece and using yellow acrylic paint, brush paint around the edge and 2 divided lines inside. After paint dries, I sprinkle some bright yellow glitter on the edges. I painted the heart with red acrylic paint. Set aside till dry. After it's dried, I glued a ephermera heart on top!

Now take your next 2 chipboard shakers pieces and glue on top of your bottom piece. Add any shaker filler you like to all 3 sections on your shaker. Peel off the protective film from both sides of your acrylic sheet and glue on top of the previous layers. Then glue the top shaker piece in place! I added a sticker sentiment to the bottom of my hive. Set your shaker aside to dry throughly before shaking!

To decorate the front cover of my album, I glued some Hello Spring ribbon along the bottom. Then adhered my shaker piece just above my ribbon. I added a variety of foam sticker sentiments and a chipboard sun sticker. Applied foam dots to the back of acouple ephermera bees and adhered them around the beehive. Then added a foam sticker Bee at the top!

Page 1: I made a pocket page, measuring 7x4 and border punch trim adhered at the top of my pocket. I cut out one of the matching birdie tags and adhered a bird brad at the top of my tag. Tucked in a journaling card and ephermera birdhouse inside my pocket. I adhered a sentiment on my picket and foam dots to my bird/nest ephermera piece.

Page 2: using one of the journal elements card I scored 1/2 inch at the top and adhered as a flip up page. Underneath this, I added a photo mat measuring 4x4 from a scrap paper and a white  cardstock 3 & 1/2 inches. Added a birdie sticker on the bottom corner of my photo mat. The tab I covered with a scrap paper and sticker sentiment. 

Page 3: using a 6x8 paper, I scored 1/2 at the top and adhered as a flip up page. Adhered a foam sticker bee on my flip page. Underneath I adhered a scrap strip aling the middle seam on my page. 

Page 4: photo mat measures 6x6 and white cardstock 5x5. Adhered in center of my page. Added some chipboard stickers, brad and sentiment sticker to finish my page. Covered both tabs with scrap papers and added sentiment stickers.

Page 5:  Made a waterfall using 3 journaling cards and scored 1/2 inch at the top and adhered to my page. Added a sentiment sticker at left. Ephermera flower piece with foam dots and enamel dots to the center of my flowers. Covered tabs as previously done.

Page 6: another pocket page and border punch. Tucked a tag and journaling cards inside pocket. Grow foam sticker adhered to the pocket and 3 enamel dots!

Page 7: Bloom and Grow journaling card adhered at the top as a flip up page. Score 1/2 inch at the top before adhering. Fussy cut out the bench image from one of the journaling cards and adhered underneath using foam dots. 

Page 8: white cardstock photo mat measures 6x6 inches. Added a variety of ephermera pieces,  using foam dots. Potted plant is a chipboard sticker and sentiment sticker at the top.

To finish the album, I added some white metal rings through each hole. Tied some gold tulle into a bow on 2 of my rings. The middle ring I added some daisy ribbon and a new charm on top!

Country Kitchen Cutting Board

What is your kitchen decor style?  Do you happen to have a farmhouse kitchen vibe in your cooking space?  Hi, Maureen here today - and I have the cutest project for those farmhouse decor needs you may have.  I'm using the new shiplap items from Clear Scraps, and they are adorable!!

I've chosen the Large Cutting Board Shiplap wood item today, as this will be really fun to display on a wall or against my counter top area.  I'm also going to be working with the really fun shiplap shapes, and I've picked the Small Chicken Shiplap Shape too!

I started with a base coat of gray acrylic paint - this is actually sanded down, and a second coat was applied to the front of the board.

From there, I've traced some checkerboard print paper and cut it out to cover the 2nd strip of wood on the cutting board.  I've applied it with tacky glue, but another option would be to use decoupage also.

Now, when you think of chickens, you might just think of chicken wire!  I didn't want to buy real wire just for one project, but I searched and found this mesh silver ribbon that looks just like chicken wire.  It will be fun to use for other projects down the road too!  This is applied at the top and bottom of the checkerboard paper with tacky glue.

My next step was to give our Small Chicken Shiplap Shape a makeover - in a pretty yellow color!  I've base painted the chicken in an acrylic paint, then sanded it, and coated it again.

To assemble my display, I added a small green wreath to the board as a backdrop for the chicken shape.  To attach the wreath, I threaded the looped hanger through a checkerboard ribbon and tied it to the cutting board handle at the top.

I added some final ribbon trim, both at the bottom of the board in black, and also a bit more of the chicken wire-esque ribbon to the top, along with some yellow too.

My board is great as a display against my backsplash in the kitchen, but would also do well on the wall too.  I really love the simple design, and the pop of color it provides the room.  How would you display a project like this?

Sweet Treat Summer Shaker Card

Hey everybody! Leslie here sharing a sweet Summer card featuring our Mini Shaker Popsicle filled with Sprinkles Lime Confetti on a Geo Burst Stencil background! I love creating my own backgrounds and this one was really fun watching it come to life!



I started by coloring the top chipboard form of the Mini Shaker Popsicle along with the edges of the remaining forms and back with alcohol markers.

I adhered a piece of popsicle patterned paper from my stash to the chipboard back so it's visible through the aperture.



Working up from the bottom, I adhered the next two chipboard forms and added Sprinkles Lime Confetti. I removed the protective film from the bottom side of the acrylic divider and adhered it, then removed the protective film from the top side of the acrylic divider and adhered the top chipboard form. When creating shakers and multi-layer chipboard and wood projects, it's always a good idea to apply clamps to ensure that the layers adhere well. I leave the clamps on for about 10-15 minutes. 



I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base along with front and inside layering panels from white and yellow cardstock. I created the background by applying twisted citron, fossilized amber, wild honey and abandoned coral distress inks to one of the white cardstock panels through the Geo Burst Stencil with blending brushes, and then spritzed some glimmer mist for a little shimmer.

I trimmed the panel, adhered a piece of dotted patterned paper and a strip of skinny washi tape across the bottom, and layered it on one of the yellow cardstock panels. I embellished the inside white layering panel with a strip of yellow cardstock and skinny washi tape, and layered it on the remaining yellow cardstock panel. I added sticker sentiments. 



I adhered the front and inside panels to the card base, and added the shaker and red gemstones to the card front complete the project.

Wood Shape Shiplap Cow Head

Texas Tami here on the blog today with a decidedly Texan project to show you!

Have you checked out Clear Scraps' new Shiplap Shapes yet? They have rustled up a herd of great designs. Shiplap is extremely popular in home decor and now you can create some unique projects of your own. The shapes come in 2 sizes, small and large. 

I used the Large Shiplap Cow Head to create this welcoming sign for my home...

Here's how I made it - step-by-step...

to create a distressed, weathered look, I started by adding some craft ink in a dark brown across the grain, then I went back with a lighter brown...

I heat set the ink to be sure that it was set, then using a damp sponge brush, I went over the piece with white paint...

Once the paint was dry, I used a sanding block to remove some of the paint especially around the edges and in the grooves of the shiplap. Sand with the grain...

I used the Capital ABC 6" stencil to add "Howdy" in blue craft ink. Since the letters are close together on the stencil, I like to mask off the letters close to the one I am stenciling to avoid accidentally inking a part of a neighboring letter. Since I was using craft ink - which is a slower drying pigment ink - I heat set each letter after stenciling it. I also cleaned the stencil after inking each letter to avoid smearing...

I used the Lower Case ABC's Stencil to add "ya'll" in dark brown craft ink. I followed the same steps for inking as before. If you would like to close the "gap" on any letters, if you slightly offset the stencil, you can ink in the break. Just be sure to mask off any close areas...

Now that the Cow Head was all finished, it was time to embellish! And what else could I use to embellish this Texas Cow except denim and red bandana?!

I made spiral roses using different shades of denim. You can also use the backside of the fabric to add another variety of color.

To make the roses start with a circle - doesn't need to be exact. I used 2 1/2" to 5" circles. After you have the circle, start at the outside edge and begin to cut in a spiral towards the center. Slightly widen the width as you go and leave a small circle as the base at the center...

Add a thin line of glue along a few inches of the bottom edge of the spiral and then roll it up. Add more glue as you roll until you come to the center. Add a dab of glue to the center of  the base and press the flower down on it...

I used a paper drill to punch holes at the top of the Cow Head and inserted a piece of rope through the holes. I knotted the rope on the back to secure the hanger...

A strong glue was used to adhere the flowers to the upper right of the Cow Head. I also made a bow from red bandana fabric and accented it with some twine. I also added some leaves cut from a "leather-look" embossed felt...

Clear Scraps Shiplap Shapes--Happy Family Home Decor

Hi there all!  Laura here with you today to share

some Spring (or Summer) home decor that would

be a great piece to hang anywhere you'd like a

little "sunshine" in your home!

This starts with our ever popular NEW

Mason Jar Shiplap Shape Large! These new

shapes are amazing!  You can choose the

small or the large depending on your

creative vision!  You can find these in the

What's New section in the Clear Scraps store.

As always, you can make them your own with

any thing you'd like--paint, stencils, stamps,

inks, papers.  For this one, I chose to paint it

white, with the "lid" gray and then lightly

brushed with a bit of black.  Next was decorating.

The Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Flower was a perfect

compliment for this project.  It's just painted with

a peachy pink and black, then sponged with a bit

of orange.  The back piece was traced onto a floral

patterned paper, then cut out and glued down.

A sprinkle of sequins and the pretty ephemera

flowers with the big ribbon finish this off nicely.

To decorate the rest of the mason jar, I grabbed

another of those awesome Clear Scraps mini shakers!

The Mini Shaker Family was perfect since I was adding

photos to this one.  Honestly it would look good

without the photos as well.  You could add a few

more flowers, or another flower shaker.  Easy to

change these around to create whatever you'd like!

Super easy to add this touch--just some black paint,

a few sequins and the patterned paper on the back

piece of the shaker, glue together and it's done!

Just a tip--always remember to peel the protective

coating off of BOTH sides of the acrylic on the shaker!

3D Frameables Graduation

Hi crafty friends! Its Jennifer here on the blog to share one of the fabulous 3D Frameables with you!  May is definitely time for high school and college graduations!  The Congrats-Hat Word N Shape is perfect to display your favorite grad! My first born graduated high school last year and I used one of my favorite photos of her!

I began by painting my Word N Shape pieces with black acrylic paint. 

For the Hat, I added a coat of gold glitter paint over the black for added bling!  

I used the Deco Frame with Base which is one three designs available.  Using my Beacon Adhesive, I covered the frame as well as the smaller oval of the base with patterned paper. Fun fact: I actually used wedding paper that I had in my stash! I thought it would work perfect! I used my x-acto knife and sanding tool to smooth off the extra edges. 

For the base of the frame and larger oval, I painted each with chalk paint in grey. 

I again used my Beacon to adhere the frame pieces together.  I then used clips to hold them together as the adhesive dried. 

I  added smaller embellishments to the frame such as stickers and enamel dots. 

Here is a close up of the Hat with the gold glitter! I  love how it turned out! 

I sanded the edges of my Congrats Word to give it a distressed look as well as help it stand out on the base.
