Hello everyone! It's Jennifer on the blog today to share one of the new Shiplap Shapes that were recently released! How adorable are these home decor pieces? I used the Large Cow Head Shiplap Shape to create a fun door hanger and I'm going to show you my techniques.
I began by painting the middle of my Shiplap Shape with chalk paint in off white. I did not worry so much about having perfect borders but did ensure there was adequate coverage.
Once my paint was dry, I added two strips of painters tape as shown. I tried to space my tape evenly apart (but it does not have to be perfect).
Next, I used chalk paint in black to cover the outside edges of my Shiplap Shape. I found adding two coats of the paint covered the wood nicely.
Using my Silhouette and a fun font, I cut out a sentiment on black vinyl. Once I finished weeding my letters, I used transfer tape to apply the sentiment to my wood.
Here is a close up of the finished sentiment!
For accent, I added ribbon, eucalyptus, and a button to the right ear of the Cow Head. I affixed all of the above using my hot glue gun. I then added some thicker rope in order to hang my creation!
