My friends might say I love a good, cheesy joke. The more groans I get, the better! Hi, it's Maureen - and I have a project for anytime of year. It's great to have some all occasion cards around. You never know when you need one. So, I have some punny card fun for you today! I'd love to show you how it's made...so let's "gecko-ing!" Ha!
Okay, I've been waiting to play with these little Gecko Chipboard Embellishments. They are the CUTEST thing ever! I live in the Southwest, so it's a double-treat for me. I'm starting by cutting the geckos off the chipboard mounts - I really like to save the frame they come in for scrapbooking later on too, hint hint!
Base coat your geckos black with an acrylic paint and let them dry. I like to use 2 coats.
Next, I'm choosing a white card stock card, an A2 size, to decorate. The fun addition of the Circle Grooves Mixer Stencil is going to add so much pop to this card!
I'm going with a few different Distress ink colors and some sponge applicators. Start sponging your first color in the top corner of your card - make sure to tape down your stencil so it doesn't move.
Next, move on to your next color, sponging in a diagonal pattern across your card. I did bright fiesta colors here!
When you get to the end of the stencil pattern, carefully lift up the taped stencil and place it at the bottom of your card. It will not line up exact, but that's okay - just find a pattern it aligns to and continue sponging. You can see where I placed mine above.
Now that the stenciling is done, I've picked out a die cut letter font for my punny phrase and glued it on. This card stock has a little sheen to it, to add some flair.
You'll next add some glossy overcoat to your gecko (if you wish), along with some gems for eyes. Let it dry and then glue this little guy to the front of your card! You could also add some Stickles glitter too.
What other versions of "punny gecko" jokes can you think of? I'm sure we can tell a few "tails" can't we?? Ha! In real life, geckos are so fun to watch...they make me smile. I hope this card makes you smile too!
Until next time,
Maureen
