Snow Days 3D Winter Frameables
January 14, 2022
Hello Crafty Friends:
It's Dana here! I'm happy to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today to share a Winter Home Decor project!
Winter time is upon us and a chill is in the air! I love to decorate my home for all the seasons and holidays. These 3D Winter Frameables are sure to melt your heart!
For our project today we will be using Clear Scraps Base and Frame-square and Winter/flake word and shape.
We will also use the Clear Scraps Garden Tools Chipboard Embellishment Shapes -shovel.
The papers I used to decorate my 3D Frameables are from Carta Bella Welcome Winter collection.
To start this project, I removed the word and shape pieces from my package. With my pencil, I traced around my snowflake shape onto coordinating patterned paper. Cut it out roughly, glued my paper onto my wood surface using Beacon 3 in 1 glue. Then I trimmed around the edges of my snowflake using my x-acto knife. Using my Clear Scraps sanding tool, I distressed and smoothed around all edges of the snowflake. You could also stamp, paint or spray your wood shapes, if you prefer.
To color my winter words wood shape, with my finger, I rubbed over the surface some Spectrum Noir metallic was in "Cobalt". This will give your wood surface a nice shimmery glow. Let dry.
After your winter wood words are dry, I took a palette knife and applied some fake snow on the top edges of my winter words. I adhered a puffy snowflake sticker to the top of my letter I. And a puffy tree sticker to the bottom of the letter T.
To decorate my wood snowflake shape, I adhered a "Snow days" ephermera piece to the center of my snowflake using foam dots. Then on the edges of emu snowflake, I adhered some enamel dots in blue and white.
Take your Clear Scraps Chipboard shovel piece and add some acrylic paints in brown, gray and silver, with a paintbrush. Set aside to dry.
Now remove both bases from your package. Choose 2 coordinating papers from the collection and trace, trim and distress all edges, including the slits in between on each base. Make sure all slits are free of any excess paper.
Then take your Beacon 3 in 1 glue and adhere both bases together, making sure all your slots line up.
Now we can work on our frame! I covered my frame with a different coordinating paper, trim the outside and inside of the frame and distress around the edges as we did previously with the other wood pieces. You may add a photo to the back of your frame or one of the journaling cards from this collection.
I slid my frame and other pieces into each slot on the base. Now you can decorate your frame! I glued my chipboard shovel to the left side of my frame. Adhered a puffy cocoa mug sticker on the right. Added a "Freezin Season" ephemera sentiment to the top of my frame with foam dots. I also glued some white/silver pompoms along the top edge of my frame!
Then I twisted a couple pipe cleaners in silver and white together. Then glued around the base. I took a few white pompoms and piled up on the left side surface of my base, to resemble snowballs! To finish I added alittle bit of fake snow on the bottom of my shovel.
I hope I have inspired you to start creating those winter home decor projects! Thanks for stopping by the Clear Scraps blog today. Be sure to visit the Clear Scraps website to check out all the 3D Frameables available to purchase. Click Here
