Sweet Tidings Wall Hanging

Hi Craft Friends!

I'm Dana and I'm here to share a home decor project just in time for the holidays. I love creating Home Decor projects. Don't you? Clear Scraps has so many wooden shapes and pallets that are perfect to decorate and match any holiday or season!

For my project today, we will be using Clear Scraps Wood Stars 3 pack Click Here

To begin our project, remove one of the wooden stars from your package. You can save the other two stars, for future projects. I began by tracing around my star shape with a pencil onto a patterned paper. I chose Frank Garcia's Sweet Peppermint collection. But any festive paper in your stash will work. I cut out my shape and glued my paper onto my star wood base using Beacon 3-1 glue. Then trimmed off any excess paper using my x-acto knife. I took my sanding tool Click Here  and smoothed around all the edges.

Next I added some tacky glue all around the edges of my star shape, then sprinkled some red chunky glitter along the edges. It's a bit messy,  but I love the sparkle look! Set aside to dry.

While that's drying, we can work on our shaker! Remove your top shaker piece from the package. I traced around shaker with my pencil onto another coordinating paper. But you can also paint, or add glitter onto your shaker frame, if you prefer. Then cut out and glue your paper onto the top shaker piece. Then I trimmed and distressed along the edges, as we did previously with our wood star shape. Now take the bottom shaker piece from your package. And add a photo or one of the cute journaling cards and glue in the center of my bottom piece. Then take your next two chipboard shaker pieces and glue on top of the bottom piece. You can now add whatever shaker filler you like. I'm using these pretty Clear Scraps Holiday sequins to fill my shaker. Click Here

Then peel off the protective film on both sides of your acrylic piece, before gluing on top of your previous layer. Lastly add your top shaker piece in place. Set aside to dry. Do not shake or else your sequins will stick to the sides.

To finish off my shaker, I added some crystal gems on the front to add some sparkle! Then glue your shaker to the center of your star.

Now we are ready to decorate our piece. I added a variety of embellishments from this collection. I cut out two different sentiments and inked the edges with distress ink. Added some foam dots to the back of my sentiments. Then adhered one above my frame and the other on the right side of my star. On the right side of my star, I stapled a ticket stub and adhered with glue. Then added this cute little bird chipboard sticker. I also glued a flower at the top of my star point. On the bottom I added a snowflake sticker and mitten chipboard.

To finish my piece, I tied 2 knots at the end of my piece of tulle and hot glued them to the back of my star. Now it's ready to display!
