Be Merry Christmas Jumbo Wood Tag
December 07, 2021
Hi Ya,
Tami on the blog with you today with a holiday project to share.
Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for. Maybe because I collect vintage Christmas items year round and I finally get to display them!
But I also enjoy crafting for the holidays. To create decor pieces that blend with my true vintage items.
I love using book papers or sheet music as a base for projects, but sometimes don't want to use my originals. For this project, I used copies of some vintage music I had to cover the Scalloped Jumbo Wood Tag...
Here's how I made the tag...
I started by making color copies of some vintage Christmas music I had. (I'm telling my age, but that book was MINE when I was a child taking piano lessons!) Then I tore strips from the papers and adhered them to the tag. The excess paper was trimmed, then I used the Sanding Stick to finish removing the paper from the edges...
To age and mute the music a bit, I first sanded it with a sanding block, then painted it with some diluted white paint. The edges were also distressed with chalk ink...
Clear Scraps has some FABULOUS stencils! The Be Merry stencil measures 6 X 16 and fit nicely on the tag. I chose a limey bright green pigment ink for the "Merry" and stenciled it down the center of the tag. I also embossed the ink for added texture and shine...
I painted the ornament from the Wood Holiday Shape Collection red, then used a dark Charcoal Pigment Ink to stencil "be" at the center. I used a stiff detail brush (a beauty swab works) to fill in the spaces in the letters with ink. (I did the same thing on the "e" in "Merry". I also embossed the word...
I painted the Holly Chipboard, adding some lighter green accents on the leaves...
I used a white pen to outline the letters on the ornament and to add accents to the holly. I also outlined the letters on the tag with a black pen to help them pop a bit more...
To finish, I adhered the ornament to the side of the tag, adding a small bow from silver cording to it. I made a large bow from silver wired ribbon and attached it to the hole at the top of the tag, leaving a loop for hanging. Then I adhered the holly to the center of the bow...
