Autumn Harvest Gnome

Hello, Clear Scraps friends, and happy fall!

It's Maya here on the blog today to share a DIY fall decoration featuring the medium wood gnome and the pumpkin chipboard embellishment. Clear Scraps has two sizes and three styles for the wood gnomes and they are just so perfect for any theme or holiday decoration!

▼ The size of the medium wood gnome is 7.3" x 14.2". Comes with a gnome base, a hat shape, a beard shape, a nose shape, and hands.

▼ Before I started this project, I thought it would be great if I can decorate both sides, one side for fall and the other side for winter/Christmas. So after the fall season, I can just flip it to the other side for the winter season. As you can see here, I decided to use the hat shape and the nose shape for this side and kept the beard shape and hands for the other side.

▼ I began by painting the hat shape with acrylic paint in red.

▼ Next, I laid the hat on a patterned paper I chose for the hat, traced it with a pencil, and cut it out with scissors.

▼ Then, I glued the cut-out paper to the wood shape with Aleene's tacky glue. I also added some twine, a paper sunflower, and a "thankful" sticker to the hat for extra touches. Here is the finished look of the hat.

▼ For the gnome's body, again I laid the base on a patterned paper, traced the body part with a pencil, and cut it out. Before I glued the cut-out paper to the base, I painted its shoes with acrylic paint in black.

▼ Even though I was not using the beard and hands wood shape on this side, I used the shapes to trace the beard and hands out for adhering to the base later on.

▼ It's time to assemble all the pieces to the gnome base! For the pumpkin chipboard embellishment, here I painted two pumpkin pieces with acrylic paint in orange. After the paint dried, I glued two pieces together which gives it a three-dimensional look.
