HiYa,
Tami here on the blog with you today with a project to share.
I have been trying to make some healthy changes to my lifestyle, and it hasn't been easy, but it is getting easier!
I have found that silly little sayings and quotes stick in my head and really do come in handy when I am in need of some motivation.
I thought I'd make myself a mini album to put some of my favorite quotes in. I wanted it to be bright, fun and colorful to keep me inspired to look through it daily.
Clear Scrap's new Slimline Mini Albums come in a variety of styles and types. Since I wanted something colorful, I decided to use alcohol inks on acrylic. And because I wanted to use the album horizontally, I opted for the Regular Acrylic Slimline Album...
All of Clear Scraps Acrylic products come with a protective film on both sides. For this project, I wanted to leave the film on one side while I worked on the other. This way, the backsides of the pieces would all stay clean...
Acrylic albums require a little more thought and planning than other types of mini albums since what you do on one side will be visible on the other. So it's important to keep that in mind while you are working on your acrylic album.
I wanted the colors on each page to layer with colors on the other pages to create new colors when the pages were stacked. With that in mind, I selected primary colors and kept one color family per page.
I started with pinks and reds on the top page. I added drops of alcohol ink and then tilted and blew the colors to get them to run into each other...
I wanted a little more blending and runs, so I added drops of alcohol and again tilted and blew on the inks...
I did the next page with shades of yellow and the third page with blues. The first picture shows the red page layered on top of the yellow page, then the red and yellow layered over the blue in the second pic. You can see how lots of other colors are created by layering the pages...
My plan was to use the 3 primary colors, then use a pearl on the last page. BUT... I realized there were FIVE pages, and my color plan accounted for four. I noticed that I didn't get many purple shades, so I decided to make the fourth page shades of a pinky-purple. I also checked placement and inked around areas that didn't have much color already when the album was stacked. Here's a look at the pages all stacked up...
I set the pages aside to dry completely, then I pulled the protective film off the backs of all the pages...
Next I started planning out my quotes and writing them on white cardstock. I adhered the pieces back to back on opposite sides of the pages. I only placed glue at the centers. I also inked the backside of the papers so that if any portion showed from the other side it looked like a mat...
Once all the pages were finished, I stacked them in order and attached rings in the holes. Multi colored ribbons tied to the rings finished it off...
This project was fun but MESSY! As my desk (not to mention my hands) can attest to...
