Hi Crafty Friends!
I'm Dana and happy to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today! Do you love to scrapbook? Have you tried creating a layout on acrylic? It's so versatile and you can use many different craft mediums and apply to your acrylic to get the look you desire or specific theme.
For today's project I'm using Clear Scraps XL Scalloped shape. Click Here but there's many different styles to chose from. We will also be using Clear Scraps Chipboard heart Click Here and feathers chipboard Click Here
My papers I chose are from Blue Fern and are from their Jane's Memoirs collection. Since I'm creating a heritage layout, I thought these would be perfect!
To start, we will be decorating our chipboard shapes first. For the heart, cut away from your outside chipboard piece. You can save this outside piece for another project. I covered the main heart with some glitter, and painted the smaller heart inside with pink acrylic paint. Let dry. After it dries, I took some Pebeo Gliding wax -Gold, and rubbed with my finger over the swirled areas on my chipboard heart. Then I chose a background paper to decorate the inside of my heart. I traced and cut it out. Applied to the back of my chipboard heart with glue. I prefer to use Beacon 3 in 1 glue. It grabs quickly and has a permanent bond. Set your heart aside.
For the feather chipboard I applied some Finnibair rust pastes using a stiff brush and a pouncing motion. I like the effect this creates. Gives it a weathered rusty look. Let dry.
Next chose a background paper of your choice. I cut my 12x12 paper on all sides to measure about 10x10 inches. This leaves a nice clear edge of acrylic showing. I used a Clear adhesive tape to attach my scrapbook paper to the back of my acrylic sheet. I only applied tape to the four corners. You may use a clear drying craft glue, but be careful not too apply too much. Then I applied ink lightly to the edges of my acrylic sheet. I used Spectrum Noir Midas Metallic Ink in Rose Gold.
Now you can start planning how you want to decorate your layout. I chose a vintage photo of my grandparents as my main focal point. I matted my photo on cream cardstock and adhered to the middle left side of my page. I fussy cut out a tiny envelope and ticket from ephermera pack. Scored and glued together my tiny envelope and tucked my ticket inside. Added a heart gem. Glued my envelope to the bottom right corner.
I glued my chipboard feather along the bottom of my page. The chipboard heart I glued above my photo at the top, using some foam tape on the back. This adds some dimension! I took a small paper rose and inked over the edges with some Distress Ink to give it an aged look. I then adhered my rose to the top of my chipboard heart.
To finish off my layout, I arranged and glued some flowers along the edge of my envelope at the bottom. I adhered some letters for my title on my page.
Here are some closeups!
I hope you enjoyed this project today and I have inspired you to try to create your own acrylic layout! I think this would also be a great Home Decor piece. You could add a ribbon to hang or display it on your wall or shelf!
