Summer Beach Themed Layout

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! Who is ready for sunny days and beachy weather? It's Maya here on the blog today to share this 8.5 x 11 beach-themed layout featuring the Fan-shells Chipboard Embellishments. I'm a huge fan of chipboard embellishments because they can be used on any project like layouts, cards, tags, albums, etc.

▼ I used an 8.5 x 11 white paper for the background paper. Then, I tore the patterned papers into pieces and laid them to the top and the bottom of the layout to create a beachy atmosphere with blue skies and sand.

▼ For the seashell chipboard embellishments, I painted them with acrylic paint in white. After the white acrylic paint dried, I applied dry brush paint to add some blue color to the seashells. I used a dry brush and loaded a small amount of blue acrylic paint. Next, I used a piece of tissue to swirl the paintbrush into it and get rid of the wetness from the paint. The key to getting an ideal dry brush effect is by using light pressure to go over the surface.

▼ After I adhered the seashell chipboards to the layout, I also used some ephemera to decorate around the seashells that I fussy cut from a patterned paper.

▼ The size of my photo is 3 x 4 and I covered it with a door frame. Again, I decorated around the photo using the beach-themed pieces I fussy cut from a patterned paper to finish this layout.

Stenciling on Acrylic Sheets

 

 

Greetings!   I love Clear Scraps Acrylic Sheets and Stencils!  So for my project I wanted to combine the two to create a perfect any occasion card! This card was really simple to create and the longest part of the creation process was watching and waiting for the paint to dry! 

To recreate this card you will need :

 Clear Scraps Supplies

6" circle stencil

Acrylic Sheet

Other Supplies

Card base, Card stock, paint, Flower die cuts, leaf punches, Paper Doily, ribbon 

Start by marking your acrylic sheet to cut to fit your card.  I always leave the covering on my sheets until the last minute which allows me to mark it up. 

 

 

Secure your acrylic to your table. Remove protective covering from the front of your acrylic sheet. Secure your 6" circle stencil over your Acrylic sheet. 

 

Using white paint sponge paint over your stencil. 

 

Gently remove stencil and let dry paint dry on your acrylic. (wash your stencil) Remove backing from back side of acrylic. 

 

 

Cut card stock to fit your card base. Punch holes in card stock and painted acrylic sheet. Thread ribbon through holes. 

 

Attach acrylic to card stock with ribbon, tying a bow. Adhere to card base.  Add paper doily to acrylic front. Finish your card by adding flowers and leaves.

Disney Slimline Tab Acrylic Album

Tami here on the blog with a project I'd like to show you.

I made a Disney Mini Album using one of Clear Scraps' new Slimline Albums; the Acrylic Tab Slimline. This new line of albums measure 5 1/2" X 11" and come in both chipboard and acrylic. Slimline cards are all the rage and these albums really "measure up" to that trend.

Whether you use them vertically, as I did for this project, or horizontally, you'll have lots of room for your photos and embellishments...

Working with acrylic when making a mini album gives you design opportunities that you don't get using pages you can't see through. The biggest one for me is that I can layer elements on each page so they "stack up" and create a collage when the album is closed...

I find the easiest way to do this is to work from the last page up. Placing the tallest elements on this page, then decreasing the size of papers and embellishments on each page above it. You can also see where to place embellishments so that they "layer" instead of getting hidden behind other embellishments. And if you stack each page on top of the last while you work, it is easy to layer and keep all your papers straight.

Paints and alcohol inks work well on acrylic too and can provide interesting design elements.

One other thing to keep in mind is that if you are using double sided paper, it can be seen from both sides, so you don't have to put paper on both sides of each page.

I like to adhere the printed papers by placing glue at their centers that can be covered with a photo mat or embellishments on the other side of the page. Use this same technique with embellishments too; only adhere by their centers, then cover the glued area with another similar size or shape embellishment on the other side of the page.

Here's a look inside my album...

Notice how design elements from previous pages are visible on the open pages as you look through the album.

To put the album together, I slipped elastic pony tail holders through each hole, then tied ribbons through the ends of the loops.

I also added some tag elements to the album; I made twine loops for them then threaded them in between the pages.

You can write on the tabs using a permanent pen if you want to. but because I wanted labels on each side, I cut narrow pieces of cardstock and adhered them back to back to write the section names on.

I hope this project gave you some ideas to use on your own albums.

Multi Stars Chipboard Embellishment Pallet

Hello friends! It's Jennifer here on the blog to share a patriotic 4th of July home decor project I created using some fabulous Clear Scraps products! And I'm going to walk you through the techniques I used! 

Starting with the Square Medium DIY Pallet Shape, I painted the front with two coats of chalk paint in red.  Just about any type of paint will use but chalk is my favorite as it dries quickly and looks nice with the birch wood. 

Once my paint was dry I was ready to use my Mascil.  Using a spatula and the 6 Inch Fireworks Splash Mascil, I applied gold metallic texture paste to the front of my pallet.  Since the Mascil doesn't quite fit the entire pallet, I allowed each area to dry before re-applying my stencil.  

I set aside my pallet to dry to work on the Multi Stars Chipboard Embellishment Shapes!  I painted each one with white chalk paint followed by adding embossing ink + powder to accent. 

Here is a close up shot of the stars! I  ended up only using three of the four from the set.  I love how they look next to the gold metallic!

I added a favorite photo from a past holiday along with patterned paper as well as some cute bakers twine. 

I used my Big Bite to punch holes in the top of my pallet to string this cute plaid red, white, and blue ribbon through to hang my creation!

America the Beautiful Slimline Album

Hello Crafty Friends!

Dana here! I love creating mini albums all year long!  For today's project,  I'm using Clear Scraps new Slimline acrylic album. Click Here I love the sleek Deco style and this will be perfect for all your 4th of July family photos! We'll also be using Clear Scraps Deco Chipboard borders Click Here  and Chipboard Multi Stars Click Here

We will start by cutting apart our multi stars and save the chipboard frame piece for another project. I used acrylic paint in white for one of my stars. The red and blue stars I inked with Versamark clear ink and added red and blue embossing powers on top. Heat with your heat tool. Set them aside. 

Next take apart your acrylic album. We will be covering the front, and back album pages with paper measuring 4 5/8 x 10 5/8 inches. Some pages I cut smaller to create pockets and leave some of the see thru acrylic visible. I will explain as we go along. The paper I'm using is from Carta Bella "God Bless America" paper collection. Be sure to not add adhesive where it will show through the acrylic. Also don't forget to peel off the protective film on both sides of all your pages, before decorating. Also mark and punch holes in all your album pages as you go along. 

For page 1,  I cut my pocket at 4 1/2 x 5 1/2. Tucked some journaling cards inside my pocket. Added a ephemera piece with foam dots in the upper left corner. Page 2, I cut a polka dot paper measuring  4x7 inches. Score 1/2 inch on left to make a flip page. Add some stickers on top.

Page 3, I cut another pocket, added a sticker in the upper right corner and tucked one of the journaling cards inside the pocket. Page 4, I used a diecut from my stash, to decorate the top portion of my page. Took a frame and added an ephemera card to the back of my frame and adhered with foam dots to the top of page. The bottom of my page, I adhered a journaling card and a few stickers.

Page 5, I adhered a journaling card over the previous journaling card. For page 6, take and cut apart one of the Deco Chipboard borders. You can save the other border for another album or project. I painted my border with bright red acrylic paint on both sides. Let dry. Then I added a sticker border to left edge and a few stars on the right side.

For page 6, cut your paper 4 5/8 x 10 5/8 adhere to your album page. Then take some Beacon 3 in 1 glue, and adhere your chipboard border to the right edge of your album page, making sure you line up all edges evenly.

 

For the last two pages, I cut both papers at 4 5/8 x 10 5/8. For page 7, I cut my paper at 3 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches. I scored 1/2 inch at the top to make a flip up page. I added a sticker at the bottom of my flip page with foam dots. I love the added dimension it creates. Page 8,  I cut my paper 4 1/2 x 7 inches and adhered in the middle of my page. The paper that shows through is your back cover paper. I added some USA stickers to the bottom of page with foam dots.

To finish my album cover, I added a piece twine, adhered some banner flags on top of my twine with foam dots. Glued my chipboard multi stars to scattered areas on my album cover. Added a sentiment ephermera piece with foam dots to my cover. Then tied my pages together with ribbons and tulle!

Under the Sea Circle Pallet

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing a new project using the Circle Pallet Shape as the base.

The circle pallet was painted with several shades of blue paint. 
For a bit of shimmer, I spritzed on a spray ink.

Once dry, I used the 6" Beach Fun Stencil to add several stars and sea shells to the background with brown ink.

Next, I painted the Octopus Chipboard Embellishment with dark blue paint so he would stand out from the background.
I wanted the Octopus to appear happily floating amongst the sea shells.

The Octopus was adhered to the right side.  Then I added a crab from the 6" Beach Fun Stencil in a different color for a more dramatic effect.

Woof 3D Frameable

Hello and happy Monday! It's Jennifer on the blog to share another of the new 3D Frameables!  For my project, I used the Woof-Bone Word N Shape along with the Base with Square Frame.   One of the great things about the 3D Frameables is that you can mix and match themes, as well as interchange elements depending on the holiday!  The Woof-Bone Word N Shape is perfect to show off a favorite picture of our dog, Henry!  

I began by painting the base of the Square Frame as well as the "Woof" word in chalk paint in orange.  You do not have to use chalk paint but it does dry quickly as well as looks great on the birch wood. I also painted the smaller top base oval with black acrylic paint.

Next, using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive and patterned paper, I  covered the top of the Square Frame as well as the bone.  I cut away excess paper using scissors and an x-acto knife followed up with a sanding tool to smooth any edges.  I did use the same orange chalk paint to line the edges of each element before assembling my 3D Frameable.   My bottom oval base is also covered in patterned paper; I found it was best to use my x-acto knife to cut out the paper in the slots followed by using a thin sanding tool.

After my paint was dry then I was ready to add embellishments to my elements!  I chose smaller stickers to not overwhelm each piece.

Here, I adhered my photo directly onto the base of the frame followed by the square cut out. I then used stickers from the collection I used to accent the frame.   You can see there is a portion of wood that "sticks out" from underneath the frame and this is what holds it into the base.  You can move your elements as you see fit!

3D Frameables Fall Home Decor

 

 

Greetings!  Today I am excited to share another new 3D Frameables from Clear Scraps! These frames are so fun to create with. And you can mix and match the pieces to create your own unique frame! 

To recreate this project you will need :

Patterned paper

Start by tracing your frames and bases onto patterned papers. Cut pieces. 

 

 

Adhere your traced papers to your wood pieces. 

Cut focal "photo" from patterned paper. 

 

 

Adhere your base papers to your wood bases. Cut slots. 

 

Assemble frame using your focal piece of patterned paper. If you don't adhere the top portion and only adhere to outside edges of your frame you can change out your picture as desired! 

 

 

All that is left is to assemble your 3D Frameable frames by putting the pieces into the slots! 

 

 

After creating I decided to change out my Focal piece to include an actual photo of my grandma! So quick and easy to customize these 3D Frameables. 

 

New Product - 3D Frameables

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing a new product release - 3D Frameables.
3D Frameables are amazing  interchangeable home decor items. 
You select the pieces you want to create your own perfectly designed project.

I'm working with the a fall themed design.  I painted the large base and the frame with brown paint.  Rinea Marigold/Gold Foiled Paper was adhered to the smaller base, creating a nice contrast.  Since I was using a foil paper, it was very easy to cut the slots needed to insert the 3 elements.

For added dimension, I adhered Rinea Marigold Starstruck and Rinea Mocha Starstruck to the pumpkin, then, I used the new sanding tool to sand the edges.  FALL was inked with brown ink and also lightly sanded for a distressed effect.

All the elements fit into the slots and you can arrange them as you like.

I stamped a fall phrase on the pumpkin, then placed a photo in the frame.  If you leave one of the edges of the frame free, you can easily replace the photo as the season progresses.

Father's Day Card with new Chipboard Border

Hi Ya!

Tami here with you on the blog today with a Father's Day card to share.

I wanted to design something using one of Clear Scraps' new Chipboard Borders; they come in 5 different designs. They measure 11" long so they are a perfect fit for Clear Scraps' new Slimline Albums. They are also great to use on slimline style cards, or--- if you cut them in half you get 2 - 5 1/2" pieces which fit exactly on a standard 4 1/4 X 5 1/2" card.

While looking the borders over, I thought that the semi circle cut outs on the Curves Chipboard Borders might be interesting to play with.

I needed a card for my hubbie for Father's Day, so I decided to pull out some cardstock, inks and trim in blues and browns along with some Father's Day stamps.

The stamp set had a circle Happy Father's Day sentiment that seemed to match up to the size of the cut outs in the borders, so I started there, and kept adding!

Here's how the card turned out...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here's how I made it... first, I cut one of the borders in half then inked with several different shades of blue and brown ink...

Next, I inked up a piece of white cardstock in different shades of blue, spritzed it lightly with water, blotted gently and set it aside to dry...

Once the cardstock had dried, I cut a 3 1/2 X 5 1/4" piece and punched out 3 circles...

I masked off the bottom of the circle sentiment, inked the stamp, removed the mask and stamped at the top of a circle; repeat for other 2 circles...

I also stamped the sentiment for the card on a leftover piece of the inked paper and hand cut it in the shape of a tag...

I thought the inked paper for the card base needed a little "something", so I added a lightly stenciled design using the Quarterfoil stencil...

I adhered pieces of twine on the ends of the back of the border with double sided tape, then tied the towards the top...

Then it was time to assemble, I started by adhering the inked paper towards the right side of a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 kraft card base, then adhered the circles to the back of the border before adhering it towards the left of the card base. Attaching the tag with thin twine and a tiny pin finished the card...

3D Frameable Collection Magical

Hello and happy Wednesday! It is Maya here on the blog today to share a home decor project featuring the new 3D Frameables. If you like to create and decorate your own home decor projects, you will definitely love this new collection! 

▼ For my project, I have the scallop frame and magical-mouse head word n shape.

▼ To start the project, I traced the wood bases on 2 patterned papers, and then cut them out with a carving craft knife.

▼ Next, I applied Aleene's tacky glue on the wood bases and adhered the cut out papers on top of the bases.

▼ For the magical word shape, I painted it with acrylic paint in black. After the black paint dried, I also added some dots with bright yellow, blue and pink colors using a paint brush for extra touches.

▼ Here, I painted the mouse head in black as well. Wait until the paint is dry, then use patterned papers and stickers to decorate around the mouse head shape.

▼ For the wood frame, I gave it a coat of embossing powder by using a watermark ink pad, detailed white embossing powder and a heat gun. Then, I applied 0.25 inch double-sided foam tape on the back of the scallop frame to adhere to the back frame, so a photo can slide into the frame.

Clear Scraps Slimline Albums--Mermaid Tales

Hi there everyone!  Laura here with you today to share some summer vibes with you in a

project created using one of the new Clear Scraps Slimline Albums!!

The Wood Wave Slimline Album gives the perfect base to create an album for all of

those summer pictures of the lake, the beach, the pool, whatever!

The cover is different patterned papers torn to create a wave look that adds some

texture to the front of the album too and then one of the Clear Scraps shakers,

the Mini Shaker Fin, is the perfect embellishment.  I painted the top frame using kind 

of an ombre look in different shades of aqua, and traced the tail shape on a beachy

patterned paper for the base piece, then filled the shaker with sparkly sequins in pretty

ocean colors to fit the theme of my mini album.

The next pages are covered with more patterned papers in shades of blue, aqua, and

patterns that made me think of a pool, or the beach.  The pictures and a few embellishments

were added to complete the page.  I love the larger size in these slimline albums, it gives you

a lot of extra room to add more pictures or embellish with a lot of fun stickers and such!

There is a lot of room to fit at least 2 pictures, and even full size pictures!

You can keep the pictures straight, or angle them--again, plenty of room!

For the last page, I had already traced the mermaid tail on

some patterned paper that reminded me of mermaid tail scales.

These were glued onto the back of the album at different angles,

then trimmed along the edge of the album, and after they were glued to the

album, and I went around the edges with some glitter glue to give it

just a little of that mermaid sparkle.

Minnie Mouse Magic wall hanging

Hello Crafty Friends!

I'm Dana and I'm back today to share a home decor wall hanging project.  I think this would be perfect to hang in a little girl's bedroom or maybe give as a gift. I'm using Clear Scraps 12x12 tray Mouse Click Here and mini shaker bow Click Here

To start remove your printer tray pieces from the bag. We'll be painting our top piece first. I used acrylic paints in pastel pink and patina. Apply pink paint on the bottom section of your tray. And patina paint on the ears. Paint along the sides. Set aside to dry. 

Next I chose my coordinating papers for decorating my tray. The papers I chose are from Frank Garcia's "Just like Magic" paper collection. But you can use whatever style or pattern you'd like. I took the bottom piece from my tray, traced around the two ears with a pencil, then cut them out. Adhere your pieces onto each ear with glue. I like to use a strong bonding glue such as Beacon 3 in 1. Then take the chipboard layer with the window sections and trace all your base papers to fit inside each section. Apply with glue. Trim around each ear, using a x-acto knife. Then distress any rough edges till smooth. Then glue this onto your bottom piece of your tray. 

Take your bottom shaker bow piece and repeat the same process covering with paper etc...Let dry. 

Next take your top shaker piece and cover with pink glitter. Let dry. Once it's dry you're ready to fill your shaker. I chose Clear Scraps Butterfly medley Click Here and Heart Love Click Here shaker fillers. Place your filler elements onto the bottom shaker piece. Carefully glue each shaker piece on top of the other. Remember to peel off the protective film on both sides of the acrylic shaker layer, before adhering. Finally add your top piece. Set aside to dry. Do not move or shake until it's throughly dry. 

Now we are ready to decorate each section of our tray. I fussy cut some images from the ephermera sheet, inked the edges and applied to my tray with foam dots. This adds dimension to your project. I added some little star stickers in scattered sections of my tray.  I cut out some tickets and stapled them together before adhering to my tray. Then added some flowers onto the bottom right area on my tray. Tucked in a few pearls, heart stickers and butterfly. When finished decorating each section, adhere all your remaining chipboard layers onto your tray with glue. Don't forget to peel off the protective film on both sides of the acrylic sheet, before gluing. 

To finish your tray, glue your shaker bow at the top between both ears. Then hot glue a piece of tulle for hanging.

Clear Scraps--3D Frameables--Farmhouse Welcome

Hi there everybody!  Laura is here with you today, and can you believe that summer

is right around the corner?  And even better--it's Clear Scraps new release time!

Adorable newness is here in the store!  You can find details under the "What's New"

tab on the website, and today I've got a project to share, using the new 3D Frameables!

These new frames are a blast to create with!  You choose your base, I chose to use the

base with the deco frame, which you can find HERE.  I decided to paint it using gray

acrylic paint, and then dabbed on some white paint to give the frame a distressed

farmhouse look.  I used paint on the base also, but you could trace this onto some

pretty patterned paper and cut it out to fit as well.  Next up was to decide which set

of extras to use.  I used the Word n Shape Welcome Jar.  Perfect with these farmhouse

patterned papers and stickers too!

Here you can see the frame a little better.  I also painted the word "welcome" using

black acrylic paint.  It really makes the word pop against the background.

And then that adorable little jar!!  So many things you can do here, I just kept it

simple.  I painted the jar with blue and gray acrylic paint, brushed on a little black

soot distress ink, and then added paper and a sticker so it looks a little

and a sticker, so its a little like a "label" on the jar.  Twine and a sweet tag finish

off this little embellishment and then the frame was finished off with some

patterned paper and stickers--or you can always pop a picture in there too!

Then you slide all the pieces right into your base.  So easy, so cute!
