Grandkids Desktop Frame
May 13, 2021
HiYa,
Tami here on the blog with you today with another project to share.
If there's one thing grandparents love almost as much as their grandkids it's PHOTOS of their grandkids!
Clear Scraps has a desk frame that makes the perfect gift for any grandparent. And you can embellish it to match their favorite colors or their home decor...
I decided to make one for my mom for mother's day; no grandmother can ever have too many pictures of their grandkids!
The most challenging part of the project was finding a "nice" photo of my two boys together!
After I found and printed the photo, the rest of the project was easy peasy.
Here's how my frame turned out...
And here is how I made the frame step-by-step...
First, I covered the small base and the heart frame with printed paper. Then I used the Sanding Stick (from Clear Scrap) to file the excess paper from around the edges. I cut out the slit on the base with a craft knife, then used the tip of the Sanding Stick to smooth the edges.
I painted the large base white.
I inked the "grand" letters using blue ink. Then I penciled in the bottom of the "a", the dot of the "i" and the top of the "d" to make it easier to fill in those details when I painted the "kids" portion of the frame.
I painted the "kids" portion of the frame green, being careful to fill in the penciled details on the letters.
After I centered the photo in the heart frame, I traced around it with a pencil. This made it easier to do the next step - which was to glue the photo to the frame. I put glue around the edge of the back of the frame, then set it on the photo - lining it up with the pencil marks. Then I cut around the heart to remove the excess portion of the photo.
To finish embellishing the frame, I adhered the heart and photo to it, then added flowers and rhinestone centers and a twine bow. A sentiment across the bottom of the heart completed the project.
