Garden Gnome Shaker Home Decor

Hi Crafty Friends!

After a brutal winter, I'm definitely looking forward to Spring! Aren't you? Today I have quick and easy Home Decor project to share. I'm using Clear Scraps new adorable Gnome shaker Click Here 

Clear Scraps has many new shaker fillers to chose from. I'm using Sprinkles butterfly medley to fill my shaker Click Here

For my wood base I chose Clear Scraps wood flower 3 pack Click Here 

To start my project I painted my wooden flower shape with orange glitter acrylic paint. Let dry.

Next I took a 9 inch embroidery hoop and wrapped some floral wash I tape along the edge of my entire hoop. 

After your wood flower has dried throughly, attached some foam squares on the back of your wood flower shape and adhere in the center of your embroidery hoop. The foam tape adds some dimension to your project. 

Now take your gnome shaker apart. And paint the top shaker piece with red acrylic paint for the hat, peach paint for his nose, and I used some textured snow for his beard. Let dry. 

Take the bottom shaker piece and paint the gnomes shoes black. Trace his hat and body onto craft paper. I'm using Craft Factory Garden paper collection for this project. But any spring like craft papers will work just fine. Cut out and then glue the papers down onto the bottom gnome shaker base. Trim any edges with an xacto knife and smooth any edges with a distress tool. I added a fuzzy circle brad for a tassel on his hat.

Now start adhering your gnome shaker pieces in place using Beacon 3 in 1 glue. Before gluing down your acrylic piece, add your shaker fillers and be sure to peel off the protective film from both sides before gluing. Avoid shaking or moving your shaker until it dries throughly. Otherwise your shaker filler pieces could stick to the sides. 

Take a 6x6 matching background paper and adhere with glue in the center of your wood flower.

Glue your gnome towards the bottom edge of your project. I chose some other embellishments from this paper collection and decided where I wanted to place them before adhering with craft glue. I added pop dots to the flags/lanterns, polka dot boots and spring sentiment. I bent the butterfly wings upward to give the appearance of movement. 

 

To finish my project I added a tulle bow at the top of my embroidery hoop.

Creating an Alice Themed Teapot Chipboard Wall Decor

 

 

 

I love Alice in Wonderland Themed items. Today I am excited to share this Alice themed Teapot I created using my Clear Scraps Teapot Chipboard Album.   I admit that this Teapot Chipboard Album.  was one of the very first items from Clear Scraps.  I always knew I wanted to create a Alice themed project with it, but could never find the "right" idea or papers etc.  So I decided to mix up an entire paper collection

 

To recreate to project you will need  one page from the Clear Scraps Teapot Chipboard Album, Alice in Wonderland themed papers, and some modge podge or sealer. 

 

Start by detail cutting out some of the characters to use as embellishments on your project. 

 

 

 

Tear your patterned paper into small pieces.  Adhere to your  Clear Scraps Teapot Chipboard Album. 

 

Continue adding the torn paper to the teapot until the entire page is covered. . 

 

 

Once dry, trim the edges of your teapot. Begin adding your detail cut characters and items you cut as embellishments to your teapot. 

 

 

 

Continue to add your pieces until your project is finished.  I hope you enjoyed this easy project! 

Decorated Easter Gift Bags by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here to share some cute Easter Gift Bags decorated with the 4" x 6" Grass Stencil and the Bunnies Chipboard embellishments.

I started by lightly inking the gift bags with green ink.   
Placing the Grass Stencil on top, I used a darker green through the stencil, moving the stencil to completely cover the gift bag.
Next, I used blue ink to simulate the sky.

The bunnies were removed from their frame and painted with pink and blue paints.

Happy Easter was stamped in black ink to the right of each bunny.

Using a small oval die and Rinea Foiled Papers, I created an assortment of Easter eggs and placed them around each bunny.

Now just fill the bags with the recipient's favorite Easter candies.
Fold over the flaps of the bag, punch holes in the tops and then insert ribbon.
Tie the bags closed.

Great Outdoors Album by Maya

Hello crafty friends! It's Maya here on the blog today sharing a great outdoors album using one of the wood cards. I used our mushroom hunting photos from last year. Let's check it out!

▼ The wood card size is 3.75 x 5.75 and there are 2 pieces per pack that can perfectly be used as front and back cover to a mini album. Here I used the succulent wood card.

▼ I started by painting the front and back cover in green acrylic paint.

▼ After the paint dried, I used patterned papers, stickers, and chicken wire chipboard to decorate the front and back cover. 

▼ For the inside covers, I cut down 2 cards from a 4 x 6 journaling cards paper, trimmed them to 3.75 x 5.75, and adhered with tacky glue.

▼ For the inside pages, I created 4 pockets that are the same size (3.75 x 5.75) as the wood cards.

▼ I also cut some notes that can insert into the pockets for extra photos or journaling.

▼ When I was creating this album, I found a old vellum quote stack that I had for a while. So, I decided to add couple of sheets to the album and I absolutely love them on this album!

▼ And here are the finished inside pages. I decorated the pages with patterned papers, stickers, ephemera, tags, and enamel dots.

▼ For some pages, I created some flaps to keep the mushroom photos.

Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Easter Egg--Egg Hunt LO

Hi there everyone!  Laura here today with a LO to get you ready for springtime and

those Easter egg hunts, or it could easily be tweaked for coloring eggs!!

Just looking at the colors, bright, cheerful, fun, has got me thinking of Spring!

This LO started with the a blank white piece of cardstock.  I wanted to make a

unique border, so I chose the 6" Damask background stencil from Clear Scraps.

I used some distress ink layered in to get a different color, and also added in a few

smudges of ink to distress it up just a little--I wanted a softer look to the border.

After that I brushed some bright green acrylic paint around the edges of the

cardstock, and then set that aside to dry.  Next I grabbed that oh so adorable NEW

Mini Shaker Easter Egg from Clear Scraps!

It was painted with white and green acrylic paint on the top layer.  Love the cute chevron/wavy

detail on this one!  While the top frame dried, the back solid layer was traced onto the pretty

flower pattern paper, cut out, and glued onto the solid chipboard piece, then I glued on the

 layering pieces, added some sequins, then sealed the sequins in with the acrylic layer. A little

tip/reminder, or if you are not familiar with the mini shakers, there is a special protective

film on BOTH SIDES of the acrylic piece that keeps it nice and scratch free.  Make sure

to peel off both pieces.  I generally peel the back off, glue it down, and then peel the top off

right before I glue on the top painted frame.  That way it stays nice and perfect--scratch free!

Garden Angel Mini Pallet Shape

Hola!

Tami here on the blog with you today. The sun is out, the trees are starting to bud and things are beginning to "green-up".

I have some planters on my porch just waiting to be potted with new spring flowers. But I don't have the green-ist of thumbs - unless of course they have ink or paint on them :)

I could definitely use a little help in keeping any new plantings alive, so I thought I'd make myself a little Garden Angel...

I started with Clear Scraps' Mini Angel Pallet Shape. I white-washed it with a mix of 50% water and 50% white acrylic paint...

After the paint dried, I sanded it lightly around the edges, and a little harder on the face...

To create the hair, I adhered tiny pink paper rosebuds around the top of the head, and for her halo, some pearls on filament...

Next, small yellow flowers were added for the wings...

A few tiny white flowers were added to the hem of her skirt for trim and tiny rhinestones and pearls were added as centers to the flowers...

I printed out "Garden Angel" in green ink, leaving some spacing between the letters. The banner was then cut out letter by letter...

After adhering the letters to a piece of green twine, the banner was attached to the back of the wings...

You could add a magnet to the back of this little angel, or maybe a ribbon to tie it around a pot.

Or if you are gifting a plant or some flowers; attach her to a garden stake to place her in the pot.

Gift Bag with Basket Chipboard Embellishment

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today wishing you a Happy Easter.  Have you seen the assorted Easter elements available in the store?  I've used the Basket Chipboard Embellishment for today's project.

I used several spray inks from Lindy's Stamp Gang to add color to the basket.  For a more softer/subtle look, you can paint the basket with Gesso first.  Once dry, the Gesso will allow the colors to show.

While waiting for the basket to dry, I die cut some grass using Rinea Starstruck Foiled Paper and one of the dies from the Rinea 3D Hyacinth Flower die.  I also stamped and die cut the sweet peeps in their cracked eggs.

I wanted the basket to have additional color so I adhered it to Rinea Turquoise/Gold Foiled Paper.  Because an Easter basket needs grass, I adhered some die cut grass to the reverse side.  To decorate the gift bag, I die cut Rinea Lavender Starstruck Foiled Paper and adhered it to the gift bag as the background element.

The peeps were lightly colored then placed behind the basket so they appear to be popping out of the basket.

Additional grass was adhered to the top of the gift bag to finish the effect.  Finally Happy Easter was stamped and placed behind the handle of the basket.

Sweet isn't it?  Who would you give this gift bag to this Easter?

Confused State of Mind - Stenciled tag

 

 

Today I am excited to share this tag I created using some of my favorite Clear Scraps Stencils. My creative thoughts were all over the place when I was creating this tag using gears, butterflies and bricks!. I think the sticker sentiment I found completely matches my state of mind! 

 

To recreate this tag you will need: 

 

Clear Scraps  4x6 Brick wall Stencil

Clear Scraps 6 inch Gear Stencil

Clear Scraps 4 x 6 Butterfly Flock Stencil

Clear Scraps Street Lamp Chipboard Embellishments

 

Other Supplies

Large tag, Distress ink, Iron Embossing Powder, Scraps of patterned paper, lace, sticker sentiment, dimensional paint, leaf vine punch, jute

 

Start by applying distress ink over your Clear Scraps 6 inch Gear Stencil covering about 3/4 of your tag. 

 

 

Tear edges of scrap paper and cover most areas of stenciled gears. 

 

Apply distress ink through Clear Scraps  4x6 Brick wall Stencil. 

 

 

 

You can see what a layered background this is creating. 

 

Secure Clear Scraps 4 x 6 Butterfly Flock Stencil over tag. 

Apply dimensional paint through stencil. 

This effect has now created 3 different layers onto our tag!

 

Add torn scraps of patterned paper onto tag. 

 

 

Mat your tag onto card stock and add sticker sentiment. Add lace under sticker sentiment. 

 

Add embossing ink to your Clear Scraps Street Lamp Chipboard Embellishments and emboss with iron   embossing powder. 

 

Turn your tag upside down and add embossed street lamp to tag.  I did tuck a few punched leaf vines behind my street lamp.  Add a jute bow to finish.

Chipboard Wave Slimline Album

Hello everyone!  It's Jennifer here on the blog today to share one of the new Slimline Albums just released by Clear Scraps!  I  am a big fan of all of the mini books Susan and Jim design and these are no exception!  With Easter coming up next month, I    wanted to create a book that I  could put this year's photos into.  For my project, I  used the Chipboard Wave Slimline Album which measures 5.5 x 11 inches. 

I    also included the new  Scallop With Holes Chipboard Borders that coordinate with the Slimline Albums as well as the new Easter Egg Mini Shaker Shape!  I    painted each using a light coat of white acrylic paint and allowed to dry. 

I    backed the chipboard base of the shaker with patterned paper using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive then added in some tiny, colorful sequins. 

Here is the finished result after adding a few stickers and die cuts to the front and around my shaker. I    found it was best to adhere the shaker again using the Beacon Adhesive; you know you will get a firm bond between elements and will not have to worry about items falling off. 

Using a light blue chalk paint, I    painted the outer edges of both sides of my chipboard pages since I    planned on covering each with patterned paper. I    cut each piece 4.5 x 10.75 to fit just inside the chipboard and to allow the wave edges to be seen. 

I    adhered my Chipboard Scalloped Border with the Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.  I    then used a Big Bite to punch my holes but you can also line up your border piece and mark with a pencil and punch before adhering.

Coffee Lover Home Decor Project

Hi Crafty Friends!

Dana here to share a home decor project for all you coffee lovers out there! I can't start my day without a cup of java! I love creating home decor projects.  And Clear Scraps printer trays are so much fun and easy to decorate to match your own style and decor.. You can choose from many different styles. Click Here

I'm using Clear Scraps new coffee mug shaker! Isn't it cute? Click Here

I chose Echo park's  Coffee paper collection to decorate my printer tray.  First off I cut some strips of paper 1/4 x 12 inches. Then I took craft glue and adhered the strips of paper onto all the edges of your top frame piece. Trim off any excess paper. 

Next I cut out some journaling cards to fit inside each section of my tray. Making sure of placement before gluing them to the bottom base of your printer tray,  Let dry. 

Now you can glue down all your other chipboard layers in place onto your printer tray. I chose to use the acrylic sheet to protect my images. But if you chose not to add the acrylic sheet, you can save it for later to use on another project. Be sure to peel off the protective film from both sides of your acrylic before adhering to your frame.

I fuzzy cut out a some of the pastries, coffee cup and latte, inked the edges, added some foam dots to the back and adhered them onto different sections on my tray. I added some glitter touches on top of pastries, latte cup. I took a coffee bean heart sticker, added pop dots to the back and adhered it above my middle section on the left side. I took a piece of twine, tied two bows and attached each of the coffee flag stickers on top of my twine, on the bottom right section of my tray. How you decorate yours is totally up to you! Here's some examples of how I decorated mine.

 

Now we'll decorate our shaker coffee mug. I cut a journaling sentiment card and glued it onto my bottom shaker piece. I trimmed around the edges with my xacto knife. Then I took my distress tool and smoothed  around the edges. Next  I glued my next chipboard shaker layers on top. I filled my shaker with some beads and coffee bean shapes. Peel the protective film off both sides of your acrylic shaker shape and adhere on top of your previous layer. Then adhere the top shaker piece. Leave  your shaker undistured until it's throughly dried before shaking. This will prevent your shaker elements to get stuck to the sides. To add some sparkle to the middle section of my shaker coffee mug, I brushed on some Luna paste and then added some sparkle ink over the top. 

Lastly adhere your shaker piece to the top of your printer tray!

Clear Scrap Mixer Chipboard Embellishment--Happiness is Homemade Decor

Hi all!!  Laura here with you today!  I've got another project with those awesome

Clear Scraps Wood Rectangles.  Remember I said they come in a THREE pack!

So that means a lot of creative goodness wrapped up in one package!!  This one

would make a great gift, or just a great piece of decor for your own kitchen!

The blank wooden rectangles are a great canvas to use and for this project I

kept it simple, just cut a piece of patterned paper to fit, inked the edges a bit,

then glued it down.  They are fun to paint though too!  Speaking of paint,

the pretty eyelet chipboard border is something brand new in the Clear Scraps store!

I painted it with white acrylic paint and brushed the edges with a bit of gray to give

it a little more depth.  These are actually made for our slimline albums, but never be

afraid to use things like that in different ways!  Especially when you get them in a 2 pack!

They are the Fancy Chipboard Borders and you can find them in the store HERE.

And there might be another Clear Scraps chipboard piece on this particular project.

The Mixer Chipboard Embellishment, isn't it the cutest?  Love those mixers, something

very farmhouse chic about them!  These types of chipboard are fun.  If you wanted to

paint it all black and use as a silhouette you could, or all of any color really.  I chose to

really create the look of the mixer, so I used the red, gray and yes, even cream colored

paint to paint that tiny little bit in the middle to give it contrast....haha!  Just use a nice

fine paint brush and you can create a little or a lot of detail with these chipboard pieces!

Family Desktop Frame with Faux Wood Burning

Howdy!

Tami here with another project to show you.

A few years ago, my family went to Dallas for a mini vacation and I had been wanting to create something to display a photos of all of us.

Clear Scraps has a nice selection of Desktop Frames, and I thought the wood Family Desktop Frame would be perfect.

I decided to try out a technique that had popped into my head when I was digging through my studio awhile back.

My son had been into wood burning and I had inherited his wood burning supplies. I like how it looks, but had had trouble achieving consistent results when I tried my hand at it.

My idea was to try mimic-ing the look by using brown ink and a stencil. I was very happy with how the frame turned out...

I started the project by inking the "FAMILY" portion of the frame with aqua ink.

I also inked the frame using the same ink, just a lighter application of it...

The base pieces were inked with aqua ink and brown ink...

Next, it was time to add the faux "wood burn". I used blue painters tape to hold the stencil to the wood frame and taped off portions that I did not want to ink. Then I applied brown ink to the stencil; the bottom portion of the Lace Doily Border Stencil was used...

Here's how it looked...

I then used the top portion of the stencil on the FAMILY letters at the top of the frame...

Here's a close-up pic of them after stenciling...

All pieces were lightly distressed around the edges with brown ink...

I printed out a quote to use by the photo and adhered both it and the photo to a piece of cardstock cut to the outer size of the frame.

Then it was time to assemble the frame...

A few paper flowers and a twine bow were added to the upper left corner as finishing touches...

Bunnies Chipboard Embellishment Slimline Card

Hello and happy Saturday!  It's Jennifer here on the blog to share a spring time themed card with you today!  And I'm going to show you the techniques I used! Slimline cards are very popular right now and I have to say I enjoy creating them.   I  began by cutting a piece of white cardstock  3 1/2 x 8 1/2, scoring at a half inch. 

I set aside my base to paint the Bunnies Chipboard Embellishment Shapes with white acrylic paint. I did not worry about coverage as the white would be my underlying color. Once my paint was dry, I  applied a generous amount of crackle effect to the surface and allowed to dry. 

Next, I  cut a 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece from a 12 x 12 Acrylic Sheet.  Using the 4x6 Quarterfoil Stencil and a spatula, I  applied modeling paste to the surface of my acrylic. I only removed the protective film to the front while allowing my paste to dry. This ensures keeping the acrylic clean and free of any unwanted smudges. 

After my modeling paste was dry, I  repositioned my stencil over the acrylic and blended three coordinating distress oxides over the surface. 

After ensuring my crackle was dry, I painted a light coat of blue chalk paint over the surface of the Bunnies Chipboard Embellishments. I then added buttons for tails and used a punch for a cute bow tie. I popped the second bunny up using foam dots for extra dimension. 

Here is a close up of the modeling paste/distress oxide effect with the stencil.  I  love how it turned out! 

Last, using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive I  added paper flowers to the top of my card for extra spring time accent!

Mixed Media Spring Tags by Maya

Greetings! It's Maya here on the blog today to share two mixed media tags featuring the chipboard tag and chipboard shape embellishments. I absolutely love Clear Scraps chipboard embellishments because they are great to use on any craft project from tags to layouts or even home decor pieces. 

▼ I started by tracing the chipboard tags on the patterned papers, cutting them out, and adhering to the chipboard tags with tacky glue.

▼ I decided to give the background some texture by using the stencils along with modeling paste. The stencils I used on these two tags are 6" Monarch Butterfly and 6" Quarterfoil. 

▼ After the modeling paste dried, I started the layering using tearing papers, tags, and chipboard embellishments (cog gears & fancy butterflies) . I usually try different ways of layering until I feel great with the layering. And then I will take a picture for my reference later on when everything is ready to be glued. 

▼ Here I added splatters by using spray stain for extra colors on the background.

▼ For the chipboard embellishments, I tapped them on the watermark ink pad, sprinkled white embossing powder and heated with a heat gun.

▼ When all the elements are ready, I started to adhere them to the tags. I also added some lace ribbon pieces and small ephemera like butterflies and little word titles for extra touches.

Dragonfly Cards

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a set of cards using the Dragonflies Chipboard Embellishments.

The dragonflies come as a pair and they just need to be clipped off the frame that surrounds them.

While spraying colors on the chipboard pieces, I realized I had created a wonderful background collage.

I chose to make cards from the paper I created with the spray inks and I put aside the chipboard dragonflies to use at another time.

I used slim line dies to create a card from black cardstock.  I also die cut the top panel from the stenciled paper using the next smaller slim line die.

I created a 2nd card that measured 5" x 5".

 I used a Lavinia stamp and gray ink to add a bit of depth on the square panel.

I used the same Lavinia stamp on the slim line panel.  I wanted a subtle look so the gray ink was perfect.

Next, I inked around the edges of both panels with blue and black inks.  It really brought the designs into focus.

The slim line panel was added to the black card and the square panel was added to a blue card.  The hint of black along the edges really helps it stand out.  

Using a left over scrap of  the same paper, I stamped a phrase in gray ink, die cut it and matted it with a larger black circle.  It was then added to the card with foam adhesives for dimension.
