Shabby Heart

Hello Crafty Friends!

February is the month of love! I decided to create a Shabby Chic home decor project using Clear Scraps Puzzle wood heart Click Here

The papers and embellishments I chose to use are Prima Marketing "Love Story" collection. First off, I chose some papers to trace and cover all four of  the puzzle pieces, using Beacon 3 in 1 craft glue. I trimmed around the edges with my exacto knife to remove any excess paper. Distress all puzzle pieces with a distress tool or sand paper, till edges are smooth. Then glue all 4 puzzle pieces together to form a heart.

Next I took some clear crackle paste and spread a thin layer in scattered areas on my heart. This will give your piece an aged look. I dried my crackle using my heat tool. Then I brushed a thin layer of pink paint over top of the crackle paste and then with my finger I added some gold gliding wax over the top.

Now take some vintage trim and using your fabric glue, adhere around the edge of your heart. Set your piece aside for now.

For my project,  I decided to add a Prima Memory hardware resin frame as my main focal point on my project. You can skip this part if you want, and add whatever you prefer. I will explain how I created this frame. First I took some pink acrylic paint and using a paintbrush, I painted the bow on my frame pink. Let dry. Then taking some Prima Memory hardware artisan powder and a small stiff brush, I brushed the powder over the roses on my frame. You don't need to seal this powder. It's permanent. Next I adhered some rhinestones around my frame using a strong craft glue. I chose one of the journaling cards and trimmed to fit and glued to the back of my frame. To finish my frame, I added some liquid pearls around the edge. Let dry overnight.

Once dry you can glue your frame in the center of your wooden heart. I adhered some Prima flowers, crystals, chipboard stickers and ephermera sentiment to the bottom and sides of my frame design. I like to tuck in a few small pearls in between my flowers. For the small roses I brushed them with some distress ink to give an aged look.

I diecut a heart shape out of one of coordinating roses papers and added some foam tape to the back of the heart and adhered it to the upper left corner. Added a" beautiful" word sentiment on top of the heart and a glitter heart sticker too.

In the upper right hand corner I made a small pocket out of another scrap paper, added some lace to the top edge of the pocket, added a sentiment phase to the front of my pocket using pop dots. I tucked a few empherma pieces inside my pocket.

Lastly I glued some Prima crystals to scattered areas. Glued a pink tulle bow to the top of my heart. Added a heart gem in the middle of my bow!
