Hey everyone! It's almost time to leave 2020! Who's with me?!!
Laura here today to help with a little home decor to ring in that New Year!
Isn't this a fun little clock? This project started with the Clear Scraps Circle
Medium DIY Pallet Shape. It was painted with black acrylic paint. I made sure
to paint the piece of the pallet that peeks between the slats, I really wanted it to
be a solid black background for those poppin' metallics going on the top!
The geometric spiral is the Clear Scraps 6" Spiro Flower. It's centered on
the pallet, and then I used washi tape to hold it in place. I applied a gold
metallic wax/paste with my fingertip through the stencil.
The center hands of the clock were made using the Clear Scraps
Cog Gears Chipboard Embellishments. I chose the one with the open
center so it could still let the center of the stencil show, because it's so
cool! I used copper metallic wax to color the gear, and brushed it with
black ink to give it a bit of a steampunk grunge. The small center gear
is in the same set, was painted with black acrylic paint, and brushed with
a little silver metallic wax. To create the hands for the clock, I used the
"frame" part of the gear chipboard that was holding them together. I cut
2 of the sides, trimmed one end down to a slight point with scissors, then
held the hands on the clock face to trim them to fit. I used the silver wax on
these as well, and then brushed with the black ink. I love being able to
up-cycle packaging you might throw away! The 12 was added, then the gears
and hands were glued down, and an enamel dot to finish the hands off.
Adding the "Happy New Year" with sticker letters finishes this project.
Thanks for stopping by today, and here's to a Happy New Year!
