Harvest Gnome Girl

Hi Crafty Friends! It's Dana here with another Fall Home Decor project for you. Have you seen all the new Clear Scraps Gnomes? Aren't they the cutest? When I saw them I just knew I had to make one. For this project I used the Medium Gnome Girl.

20200924_141222

First off I painted the nose and hands with a peach/skin colored paint. Be sure to paint around all sides. Let dry. Afterwards, you can ink the edges with Distress Ink.  I painted borh hair pieces with Red rust colored paint.

20200926_152145

For the body I used Martha Stewart Orange Sorbet glittered paint. And black acrylic paint for the shoes. Right above the body,  you can add some peach paint for part of the face. Only a small portion will be visible, once you glue all your pieces in place. This is how the body should look at this point.

20200927_091731

Next I chose some paper for her hat. You can use any papers you like. For my project I used Crate Papers "Hello Autumn" collection. Trace the hat piece onto your patterned paper. And cut out.

20200926_182406

You can then smooth any rough edges with a distress tool. Then ink the edges with Distress Ink. Glue your paper onto the wood hat piece using Beacon 3-1 Glue.  Make sure your edges are even on all sides of the hat base. You can hold these pieces together with clamps or clothes pins, till dried throughly.  Then take an exacto knife and cut along the heart shape on the hat.  Take the little wood heart shape and trace onto another paper of your choice. Cut out. Distress any rough edges and place inside the heart area on your hat. I added a puffy heart sticker to the side of the heart. Glued a paper flower above my heart sentiment.

20200927_125441

20200928_110735

For the vest I traced two pieces onto a burlap like paper. Cut them out and glued on each side of the body. Added a few buttons. Make sure you leave some space between the buttons, for the hands. Glue a piece of jute cord being each hand before adhering to the body. Glue nose in place.

For the hair braids, I cut 6 pieces of rust yarn, 7 inches long. Tied the top part with a thin piece of twine. Braid pieces together and tie at the bottom. I used hot glue to attach the braids to each wooden hair piece. Added foam tape to the back and glued each hair piece in place, matching the edges along the rim of the hat. The bows I diecut using a small bow die. Glued to the bottom of the braids and added a gem in the middle.

Last I glued a few tiny paper leaves to the twine strand.

Witch Hat Mini Shaker Pallet

Hello friends! It's Jennifer on the blog today to share a fun Halloween themed project with you  (call me weird but Halloween is my favorite holiday)!   I  also love to create Halloween projects so I  was so excited to see new fall themed Mini Shaker Shapes released this year!  The Witch Hat Mini Shaker is the focal point of my project and I'm going to show you how I  put everything together!

Clear_Scraps_Witch_Hat_Shaker_Pallet

I  began by painting the Rectangle 12x10 Medium DIY Pallet Shape with black acrylic paint. It just needed one coat as the birch wood accept the paint nicely.  I  set my pallet aside to dry to work on my Mini Shaker.

Clear_Scraps_Witch_Hat_Shaker_Pallet2

I  adhered a fun Halloween patterned paper to the chipboard base of the shaker using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.  I  then trimmed excess paper with scissors followed my using a sanding tool to smooth any rough edges.

Clear_Scraps_Witch_Hat_Shaker_Pallet3

After affixing the two chipboard frames, I  filled my shaker with sequins and small glitter. I  did overfill my shaker a bit but it was done by accident! I  affixed the acrylic top piece and held in place to dry with clips as shown.  You can also wait to add the clips once you adhere the top chipboard frame.

Clear_Scraps_Witch_Hat_Shaker_Pallet4

Here is my completed shaker! I  added orange and black bakers twine to the middle and added a bow. I  carefully measured out patterned papers to fit each slat of my pallet and adhered using my Beacon adhesive.  I  then affixed my Witch Hat Shaker to the top of the pallet again using my Beacon 3-in-1.

Clear_Scraps_Witch_Hat_Shaker_Pallet5

Using a cut file from my Silhouette along with silver mirror cardstock and an orange patterned paper, I  added a title to the bottom of my pallet.

Clear_Scraps_Witch_Hat_Shaker_Pallet6

Lastly, I  punched holes at the top of the pallet to string ribbon in order to hang my project! Wire or twine will work as well!

Art Journal Cover

Good Morning all my fellow artists and crafters. This is Dora and today we are going to decorate a book cover. I am using this as my art journal cover, but you are more than welcome to use it how you see fit. I am using the following materials.... Swirls Flourish Stencil, Blank Wood Album Cover (plain), and the Chicken Wire Chipboard Embellishment Shape. Here is a picture of the finished product and there will be some close ups at the end of this post. Hope you enjoy creating with me today.

PXL_20200930_182545538

Now let's get started on the basics.... before you do anything always gesso or prime your project pieces, so that they will hold paint, and embossing better. Here I have done that with both the cover, back cover, and the pieces I will be using.

The next thing I do is paint the pieces - making them appear to be vintage and old.

PXL_20200930_133609582

While those are drying, I take the front and back cover, using a stencil, and crackle paste, create texture for the background of both side.

PXL_20200930_133807075

Once the crackle paste is fully dried. I begin to add paints and watercolors, for a grungy/vintage look. You can do this by spraying water on the canvas, while wet, apply the paint or watercolor. It will in turn run down and through the texture you created in the step before. As you can see below, I controlled the flow to only move in the middle and where I wanted the color to be.

PXL_20200930_161920138

Now comes the fun part as always, laying out the design you would like on your cover. If you are afraid you may forget, please take a photo with your phone, so that you can reference it when you are reassembling it. I have chosen to use molds and clay for some of my frame, wings, and stars. Now once you are ready, use some matte gel medium to make sure everything stays in place. Paper embellishments can be stuck with regular glue.

PXL_20200930_173137811

Now I am going to use some matte get medium and place some mini stones along the areas that appear to be a little bare.

PXL_20200930_180459264.MP

Once you have everything in it's place, this step is always optional, as I do love this step, and do it frequently. Cover your focal point (especially if it is a face, animal, or family picture), to protect it from all the splatters we are going to be doing next. I am using liquid acrylic paint. Adding just a tad of water to thin it for the splatter effect.

PXL_20200930_181814867

There you have it.... You are done and just look at what we created together. I am so happy you have joined me today in created this cover for my new art journal.

Be sure to check out ClearScraps and all their new goodies on the website!

As always, see you next time!!! Be bless, think outside your box, and color outside the lines!!! All the best artists do!! Happy Creating!!

Clear Scraps Mason Jar Chipboard--Jar of Thanks Card

Hi there everybody!  You've got Laura here with you today, and I've

got a simply sweet thank you card to share!

Clear_Scraps_Mason Jar Chip_Jar of Thanks W

Do you like to make cards ahead to have on hand for little things that

pop up in addition to birthdays, Christmas, baby and such?  I always

find having a few extra Thank You cards around, so you can send a

quick hand written note of appreciation, is a great idea!  It's also a perfect

way to use up your scraps from other projects too!  I had scraps of

paper from a home decor project I completed, so I thought hey, I'll

see what I have to make a cute card!  I like to have an assortment of the

Clear Scraps chipboard embellishments around to create with. Why?

Because I can coordinate them to any kind of papers, color palette or

project.  They work well for LO's and home decor projects too, but they

are also a great size for cards!  For this one, I used the cute little

Clear Scraps Mason Jar Chipboard Embellishment.

Clear_Scraps_Mason Jar Chip_Jar of Thanks close up 1

I traced the jar on a scrap of leaf patterned paper, cut it out and glued

it to the base piece.  The jar outline piece was painted with dark brown

acrylic paint to match the fall theme of the Thank You card, the jar lid

is painted gray and then brushed with a bit of black distress ink to create

an antiqued look.  Then a bit of twine, and a couple of leaves that

were fussy cut and tied on make a cute little jar decoration.  It would

be fine plain too.  It's all about how YOU want to create when you use

these chipboard embellishment pieces!  Check out the Clear Scraps

store for the huge selection!  You can find them all right HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Here is a picture of the products I used to create the sign. First I painted the sign in black then used a circle stencil to add the circles in purple, orange, and green with the distress paints. Then I added the BOO with word stencils and let this all dry.

IMG_20200730_131146

While my sign was drying, I took the Bat Mini Palette and painted it black and add some orange dots, I set this aside to dry also. then I took the support off the back and glued the pieces together to form a solid bat shape when this was dry, I glued it to the top right corner of my BOO sign.

Create your Own Acrylic Tag

Back in September Susan from Clear Scraps challenged the Design Team to create Christmas themed projects using Clear Scraps Acrylic sheet or tags.  Well since I didn't have any pre-cut tags I decided to create my own from Clear Scraps Acrylic Sheets.

Start by cutting your acrylic to your desired tag size. Remove protective film from front of tag.  (I left the film on back while I was creating on my work space.)

Apply Nuvo drops or other dimensional paint to front of tag. Let Dry. Keep Adding "snow" dots as desired.

While your tag is drying, Heat emboss street lamp from  Clear Scraps Street Lamps Chipboard Embellishments

Cut gold cardstock to fit "lamp"

Add streetlamp to tag.

Add die cut Santa and greeting to tag fron.

Remove protective film from back of tag and add patterned paper backing.  Add gold card stock trims to finish.

I hope you are inspired to get creative with your Clear Scraps Acrylics!

Shaker Bat and Pumpkins, Oh My!!

Hello, today I am working on several projects for the Clear Scraps blog using their shakers, I have to say, I love their shakers, they are so versatile. They can be used on cards, as tags, for gifts, as ornaments, and lots more, check them out at Clear Scraps

Supplies -
Mini Shaker Pumpkin
Paper scraps
Emery board
Glue

I started these pieces with some scraps of Halloween paper I had and I love how they turned out...it took me a quick minute to realize that I didn't have to cover the whole pumpkin because the edges and the stem would not show.

Here is the pumpkin with the paper scraps glued down, I cut along the edges then used an emery board to take off the excess paper.

Snowman Tags By Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a set of Snowman Tags using the Chipboard Tag Album.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-5-steph-ackerman

The Chipboard Tag Album has 4 different shaped tags that can be used together to create a shaped mini album, or consider using the tags separately, as I did, to create different shaped seasonal tags.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-2-steph-ackerman

Selecting two of the tags, I inked them with green ink.  I also inked the Noel Chipboard Word Title to coordinate with the pattern paper I was planning to use.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-1-steph-ackerman

Using the tags as stencils, I drew them on the pattern paper, being sure to select the sections I wanted to use.  Then I cut the papers to fit the tags.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-3-steph-ackerman

Next, I inked the edges of the pattern papers with the same green ink before adhering them to the tags.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-4-steph-ackerman

The Noel Chipboard Word Title was adhered to one of the tags on a slight angle.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-6-steph-ackerman

Dashing through the snow...., a Crackerbox/Suzy stamp, was stamped with black ink, matted, and then adhered to the second tag with foam adhesives for dimension.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-5-steph-ackerman

Now just add ribbons to the tags.
These tags  would look really great on larger packages or even hanging from the Christmas tree.

Snowman-tags-clearscraps-7-steph-ackerman

Turn the tags over and consider creating a pocket into which you could slip a gift card or even some cash!!

Aren't they sweet?

Thanks for stopping by.

Thankful Pumpkin

Hello, Kelly on the blog with Clear Scraps and using their awesome wood products! I decided that I needed a fall sign for my door.

Supplies -
assorted paints
crackle glaze
sunflowers

To start this project, I painted the pumpkin in green acrylic paint, when dry, I brushed on the crackle glaze and let that dry overnight.
Pumpkin 1

When the crackle glaze was dry, I painted orange paint over the glaze to get a crackle, the heavier the layer of paint the larger cracks that form.

Pumpkin 2

Here is a close up of the cracks in the paint.

Pumpkin closeup

Next, I used a stencil and added the word Thankful in dark green paint, the same color is used on the stem of the pumpkin.

Thankful 1

Then, I used gold gesso adding splatters of paint over the entire pumpkin. I added the sunflowers with a bit of hot glue and my pumpkin palette is ready for display!

Clear Scraps House Pallet--Hello Fall Home Decor

Hi everyone!  Laura here with you today!

I've got some fall home decor inspiration to share with you!

Clear_Scraps_House Pallet_Autumn Days Home Decor

I'm a huge fan of the Clear Scraps medium pallets for creating home decor pieces.

But don't be afraid of the larger pallet shapes!  This one is the House DIY Pallet Shape.

It's size is 16.25" by 21" so it makes a great piece to hang up (easy to punch holes with

a crop-a-dile and add a hanging ribbon or add a picture hanger on the back).

To create this one, I left a little secret when I painted the wooden pallet with brown paint:

Hello Fall Home Decor close up 1

Since there's no reason to paint the center when I was covering it with paper!

For the center portion, it's almost like creating a LO to go in the center of

the piece.  I cut and layered the paper just like I would on a LO, then added

some stickers, twine and enamel dots to embellish it up.  I wanted a title on

this one, so I chose the Clear Scraps Home LG Chipboard Embellishment.

Clear_Scraps_House Pallet_Autumn Days close up 2

Love that it's easy to paint up with some acrylic paint in any color so

I can match whatever project I'm working on!  You can stamp on it,

spray it, ink it, whatever you'd like to do!  I used some brown distress

ink around edges to add to the fall look of this home decor piece.

One of the nice things on these words, is that the letters are separate

so you can put them any which way on your project.  I overlapped

them slightly on this project.  It creates a little interest and depth

rather than just gluing them on flat.  They are also large enough that

they don't get lost behind the cute little pumpkin stickers.  They

definitely hold their own!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Happy Fall!

Fall Harvest Wood Puzzle Home Decor

HiYa,

Tami here on the Clear Scraps Blog with a Fall project to show you. The air is FINALLY a bit cooler here in Texas and it's starting to feel like Fall.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year (and not just because it means the end of 100 degree days). The colors are all warm and fuzzy and make you want to break out the cinnamon apple or pumpkin spice candles and toss a cozy throw on the couch.

It also makes me want to grab some Autumn themed supplies and create something.

I'd been wanting to make something using the 4 Piece Square Wood Puzzle, and the papers I found looked like they would work perfectly on it.

I'd also found a sweet Fall Harvest quote online to use on the project as well...

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_home_decor

Here are the steps for this project; it's easy to make...

Put together the puzzle and orient it how you like it - the pieces are not identical. Then label them as to their position - like "upper left", and also note the direction of the piece with an up arrow, or note "top' at upper edge of piece. I find it easiest to write on the front, you'll be covering it up. You can also note which paper you want to use on each piece. All this info will help ensure that you apply the papers on the correct side, in the correct direction and most importantly - on the correct piece! Then measure each piece and cut a piece of printed paper 1" larger  for each puzzle piece...

Clear_scraps_wood_puzzle_square_fall_1

Adhere the papers to each puzzle piece. It's always best to put the glue on the smallest piece - in this case, the puzzle piece, this keeps you from having excess glue to deal with.

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_2

Trim off excess paper from around each puzzle piece...

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_3

Use a file to remove the rest of the excess paper from around the edges. Hold the file at a 45 degree angle, and pull downward, repeat until you see the edge of the wood showing. This method gives you a nice sharp perfectly fitting paper for your project. This technique also work on chipboard...

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_4

Write or stamp the quote, one phrase per piece, on 3" square pieces of printed paper. Mat them on 3 1/4" of contrasting printed paper...

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_5

Adhere them to the centers of the upper left, upper right and bottom left puzzle pieces, adding sticker embellishments...

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_6

Create a "scene" with stickers on the lower right puzzle piece. Or you could add a photo there instead...

Clear_scraps_square_wood_puzzle_fall_7

If you want to connect the pieces, you could glue a piece of chipboard - cut a bit smaller than the puzzle - on the back. But since I pack and store my seasonal decor, I find it easier to leave the pieces separate. They will connect and sit on a display. You could also use the chipboard for the puzzle to "lean" on instead of adhering it.

Thank you for visiting the Clear Scraps Blog; please come back and see what other goodies the design team has to share with you!

Sisters In Bloom

Good Morning all my crafty and creative friends, This is Dora!! I made this project for my mom. She is giving it to my aunt Donna for her birthday. They are sisters who love nature and especially the spring when everything is in bloom. I created this to show how a bond between sisters is like nature.... The seasons change - but through it all they bloom together in harmony! I am using the Heart Wood Shape and the Tree Stencil for this project.

Chipboard Banner Witch's Hat

Hola,

Tami here today with a vintage inspired Halloween project to share with you.

I started with one of the pieces from the Scalloped Chipboard Banner Set. You can make some fabulous banners for any occasion using the Chipboard Banner Set, but the pieces can also be used separately.

The banner pieces can be inked, painted, stenciled on or as in this project, covered with printed paper...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_home_decor

I first cut a piece of printed paper to fit over the banner piece; just trace around the chipboard on the paper, then cut it out. I distressed the edges with black chalk ink...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_1

Next, adhere the printed paper to the banner piece - NOTE: i did not cover the entire piece as I planned to cover the lower portion with an embellishment...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_2

I had some trim I found at the dollar store that I thought would look great as the brim of the hat, so I cut a piece the length of the scalloped portion of the chipboard banner piece and adhered it...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_3

I had some vintage cotton ribbon that I purchased at an estate sale that I wanted to use as the band on the hat. I love finding and collecting vintage items to use on my altered projects, but any contrasting ribbon will do...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_4

The printed paper set I used had small cards that matched. If the papers you choose don't have something similar, you could stamp a Halloween themed image or sentiment, or find a vintage Halloween card or postcard online and print it out. I added some flowers at the bottom corner and used rhinestones and pearls for the centers...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_5

I had a sheet of Halloween word stickers, so I found a few that fit the card and added them. You could also stamp or write words on strips of paper...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_6

As a finishing touch, I decided that my hat needed a little "pom" trim at the pointy tip...

Clear_scraps_scalloped_chipboard_banner_halloween_vintage_decor_7

And that's it! Pretty simple project to create a vintage inspired decor piece for your Halloween decorating.

I hope this project has inspired you to pull out your Clear Scraps products and CREATE!

Halloween Shaker Layout

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Dana here! I have a Halloween scrapbook layout to share. Halloween is just around the corner so I wanted to create a layout that I could display all month.

Have you seen all the variety of shakers available from Clear Scraps! These shakers are high quality chipboard and so easy and fun to assemble. For this project I chose to use the Bat Mini Shaker. You can check them out Here

20200922_122447

For the base of my scrapbook layout, I used one of the Clear Scraps XL Scallops , which I had left over from a previous project. But you can use any acrylic sheet from Clear Scraps. You can find them Here.

First off I mixed some orange and lime green glitter along with black glass glitter. Then took my acrylic sheet and applied craft glue along the scallop edges. Then sprinkled the glitters onto the glue. Shake off sny excess glitter. I did a small section at a time careful not to apply too much glue. Continue this process until finished. Set aside to dry.

While you wait, take your bat shaker pieces apart. Paint the top piece of your shaker with black acrylic paint.

20200922_090813

Then take your last piece of chipboard shape and trace onto your patterned paper. Cut out with an exacto knife and smooth any edges with your distress tool. Glue paper onto your chipboard shaker piece.

20200922_154752

Now glue the next two chipboard layers one on top of the other. Then fill your shaker with confetti or anything you like. Then peel off the protective layer on your acrylic shape and glue down onto previous layer. Finish off by gluing the top painted layer in place. Do not shake until glue dries. After your shaker dries you can carefully add black  paint around your shaker edges. Let dry.

20200923_151901

While drying you can work on your layout design. I chose a base paper, sentiments, a photo and stickers. I used glue dots to attach my scrapbook paper to my acrylic sheet. Added my embellishments. Used foam dots to the back of my sentiment to add dimension. Then glued my Bat shaker to my layout.

Clear Scraps Bat Swirl Stencil--Candy Cutie LO

Hello everyone!  Laura here with some inspiration for you today!

I've got a fun Halloween LO to share with you using the Clear Scraps

4x6 Bat Swirl Stencil to create a fun border.

Clear_Scraps_Bat Stencil_Candy Cutie LO
I love cute and simple don't you?  This one is just a few layers of different

patterned papers but to make a stand out piece that anchors everything,

the border was created on plain orange cardstock with the Bat Swirl stencil.

Clear_Scraps_Bat Stencil_Candy Cutie close up 1

I used a sponge applicator to apply a light pounce of black acrylic paint

to keep the look a little distressed for more of a spooky Halloween look.

I positioned the stencil a few different ways as I moved it to make the

pattern look more random.  You can see the angle of the stencil in the

picture, it's not just straight up and down, tho you could do that too.

Clear_Scraps_Bat Stencil_Candy Cutie LO close up 2

After I got the look I liked, I went back with the sponge applicator to

brush around the edges of the border to add a little more depth and

interest to the softer bats and swirls.  This frames it and makes that

part "pop" a bit more.  A few scattered stickers and enamel dots added

a nice finishing touch and tied it into the rest of the LO.

It's honestly so much fun to play with stencils like this!  Sometimes I just

take a scrap piece of paper and play.  You can try different looks with paint,

or an ink, or spray mist, or markers, or?  Get creative!  If you like the look,

you can save it to use later for a border or accent on a LO or home decor.

You can find all of the different stencils in the Clear Scraps store HERE

There are lots of them to choose from--so many ideas!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Stop back soon for more inspiration!
