Mason Jar Layout

Hello Crafty Friends!

Hope you all are doing well and finding time to craft. I'm happy to share a scrapbook layout with you! I just love shakers! Clear Scraps has so many great designs to choose from for every occasion. I used their Mason jar shaker for this layout. You can get one by clicking here:  Mason Jar Shaker

Supplies you'll need:

Vintage or Cooking scrapbook papers I used Hot off the Press: Home Grown scrapbook papers and Paper Tole Stickers

Home Grown Stamp set, black ink pad

Clear Scraps Chipboard Frame ( This frame was leftover from one of my Clear Scraps chipboard elements) I always save my scraps to use for other projects.

Twine, paper trimmer, glue, foam dots, tape runner,  photo or journaling card

Glitter heart stickers,  Stickles glitter in Stardust

Choose a 12x12 background paper base. Cut a matching border paper to measure 12x 3 inches,  and adhere 1 inch above the bottom base page.

Next I painted the top piece of my chipboard shaker using Prima Steampunk Metallic Copper paint and I also painted the chipboard frame with some gold acrylic paint. Let dry.

Next I stamped a jar ruffle, sweet treats, hearts and enjoy sentiments (make sure you stamp them correctly so they show through your shaker window) onto patterned paper, using black ink. Let dry. I took my Clear Scraps acrylic mason jar piece and traced it onto another patterned paper and cut it out. Then I glued to the back of my chipboard shaker piece.  I also cut out the stamped mason jar ruffle. Then glued a piece of black and white twine to the top of the ruffle.  

Start assembling together your Clear Scraps Mason jar shaker and glue each layer together. Make sure to remove the Clear film from your acrylic layer before gluing. I filled my shaker with some Clear Scraps "Summer" Sequins. They have such a variety to chose from. Click here

I took and assembled my Paper Tole pieces using foam dots. I also glued a journaling card to the back of my chipboard frame. But you could add your favorite photo if you like. 

Lastly I arranged all my pieces onto my layout. Once I am satisfied with the placement I glued them down onto my page. I added a sticker sentiment "sugar and spice" to the bottom of my chipboard frame. Then took my Stickles glitter and applied to the pie crust image on my journaling card.

Happy Fall Pumpkin Banner by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today using one of the Acrylic Banners and the 6" Pumpkin Swirl stencil  to create a fall wall hanging.

Placing the stencil on the banner, I determined where I wanted the design then taped the stencil in place so it wouldn't move while I inked it.

I started adding color using an art dauber, beginning with orange ink.

I continued adding colors with art daubers until I had the effect I was looking for.  I inked the swirl with 2 colors of green ink, then added brown ink for definition around the pumpkins.

Removing the stencil, I had this amazing pumpkin image.   

I wanted the design to stand out some more, so I  traced the banner onto yellow cardstock then cut it to fit the reverse side of the banner. 
Using a Lawn Fawn die, I die cut Happy Fall from Rinea Marigold/Gold Glossy and Ebony/Gold Glossy Foiled Papers then adhered them together slightly offcenter above the stenciled image. 
I punched holes and tied the ribbon hanger in place.

I placed assorted Robin's Nest dew drops about the banner, selecting similar colors to complement the colors.

I created a bow from Rinea Marigold/Gold Glossy and Ebony/Gold Glossy Foiled Papers using Spellbinders dies and attached it to the banner using a brad.

Fall Colors? Wood Phone Stand

Tami here with you today on the Clear Scraps Blog.

I love the traditional fall colors as much as anyone, but sometimes, you want to try something a little different. So I went searching for some non-tradtional fall colors. I ran across a type of ash tree that had leaves that were a mix of lavender, sage green and touches of light orange and yellow. I thought those colors would look great together on a project, and having just got a new phone and phone case, it was time to make a new phone stand! And my case just happened to look fabulous with those colors.

I picked Clear Scraps' Scallop Wood Phone Stand to embellish; I like the dainty scallop border. The shape of the leaves on the Ash Tree looked similar to those on the 6" Tree Branch Stencil, so I thought it would be perfect design to use to.

I picked out some pigment inks in the colors I had chosen, then pulled out some Iridescent Embossing Powder too.

To start, I gave both parts of the stand a nice even coverage of the blue ink...

Then I heat set the ink. I wanted to create a "shadow" of white ink for the stenciled design, so I didn't want the blue ink to blend into the white when I applied it.

Use painters tape or masking tape to hold your stencil to the wood and your work surface...

Here's how the white "shadow" stenciled design looked; it was heat set too so it wouldn't blend with the colors I would be adding next...

Next, I repositioned the stencil slightly down and to the right of it's previous placement. Then I used lavender, sage green and pale orange to fill in the leaves; blending several colors on each leaf. Then I used a light brown for the branches.  Then I sprinkled embossing powder over both pieces. *Note: I added a few leaves to the front of the stand.

After heat embossing the ink colors brighten a bit...

Another thing to note is that pigment ink is a SLOW drying ink! I heat set enough to keep the colors from blending, but the embossing powder was going to stick to the inked background and white "shadow" too, although not as heavily as it did to the "wet" leaves. I wanted my phone stand to have an all over shimmer, but if you prefer for only the leaves to "shine", you should heat set after adding the white and let it sit overnight - depending on your ink. Test a bit before you shake the embossing powder over it.

You can always test on the backside of the stand portion to see how fast your pigment inks dry so you can achieve the look you want.

As I'm writing this, I can't help but notice that our new Clear Scraps watermark matches my project! Guess I should have stayed "closer" to home to find some inspiration! I feel like Dorothy ;)

Clear Scraps Printer's Tray -- Happy Halloween

Hi there everyone!  Laura here!  Who's ready for fall??!!  I sure am!  I love crafting

home decor for fall!  I'm sharing a fun printer's tray with you today!

Clear Scraps has so many different tray shapes, it's fun to play with the different

types!  They even have a heart shaped tray, you can find all the choices HERE.

For this project I used the Clear Scraps Rectangle/Square Printer's Tray Frame.

These are really easy to put together too.  One of the things I like, is you can

customize each panel of the frame.  If you want you could use just one sheet of

12x12 paper, or you could paint the solid back piece, which is a little easier.

Here is the back view of the frame, just so you can see how I pieced all

the different pieces of paper to create the look you see on the front.

Once I had all these pieces glued in place on the raw chipboard frame,

then I turned it over and glued it to the solid 12x12 chipboard base piece.

The next step is to glue the second raw chipboard frame right onto this one.

That will give you the depth to add layers inside the tray, or add sequins

to create a shaker look inside the tray.  I like to add a lot of layers,

This is the tray before I put the final layers on, I used foam tape to pop up some

of the elements (pumpkins, bats, the banner), then added sequins and the last

two layers of the tray.  First the 12x12 sheet of acrylic (make sure to remove

the protective plastic from BOTH sides!) and then finally the last frame piece,

which I had painted with black acrylic paint, and then let dry before hand.

To add to the depth of the tray, I sometimes layer a few things on the OUTSIDE.

You can see the Happy Halloween, the "boo" banner, and the broom are on top

of the tray for a nice little extra something.

Maple Leaf Shaker Card

Hello hello hello crafty friends... Autumn will officially be here on September 22nd in the US. But the feeling of getting into a new season is bringing a feeling for a new hope, a change. When the leaves start to change colors is one of the signs that the new season is here. Today, on my card, I am featuring the Mini Shaker Maple Leaf and 6" Leaves Stencil, that they are just perfect for this season!

I started with getting the top and bottom leaf ready to be painted. I used 3 shades of gold acrylic paints to create an ombre gold color look on the maple leaf.

I painted the each leaf piece with the small flat brush. I set them aside to dry and then I added another layer of the paints. I did it 2 times.

While the paint drying on the side, I worked on the card background.

I used a 5" x 6.5" ivory card (it is 1" bigger than A2 size card). I added the 6" Leaves stencil on top of the card, secure it with low tack tape (washi tape will work well, too), and then I added the Oxide Distress inks (Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, and Walnut Stain) on the card with small round blending brush.

After blending the ink colors on the card, I added the burlap paper on top of it with TapeRunner adhesive.

The paint was dried well. I started to put each layer of the shaker chipboard together with 3-in-1 Beacon adhesive. I sprinkled a decent amount of sequin mix in the middle of the shaker. Then, I removed the clear plastic from the acetate (remember to remove both sides! I almost made a mistake!!!). I added the acetate on top of the chipboard with the same adhesive and then I added the top piece of the maple leave. It is done.

I leave it as it is, no sentiment so I can send it out for any occasions in this Autumn season. I hope this project gives you an idea to create with Clear Scraps.

Spread Some Cheer

Good morning all my crafty friends, this is Dora, and this morning we are going to look a a cute way to make some ornament tags. These tags are unique, because you hang them on your tree, and they are acrylic instead of chipboard/wood. I had so much fun making them and had to share them with all of you. These tags were also featured in the Stamp and Scrapbook @home expo which you can find HERE!! If you are interested in making any of these two, you can find the acrylic tag HERE, and the snowflake stencil HERE! Let's get started....

1.) Grab out your acrylic tags and make sure you take the thin plastic covering off each side. Then put a coat of clear Gesso over the front and back of the tags. This will ensure that the paints, pastes, and and stamping stay on the tags.

2.) Choose the stencils you want for the background. I have chosen the snowflake and bulbs. Though, in the end I only used the snowflake one. Grab some texture paste, place the stencil where you want the snowflakes, and apply the paste. Be sure it is fully dry before going to the next step!

3.) this is an option step. If you wanted to do something different, other than with a stencil, you can apply the paste onto the tag. This will give a "snow" like look. as you can see in the photo below, I also added some glitters of all sizes, along with embossing powders. (BE CAREFUL will heating the embossing powders. It will melt the tag if you are not paying attention).

4.) Here I have taken out some stamps to give some background texture to all the white. Be sure to use a permanent ink so they stay and not bleed with anything you add on top.

5.) Next, I start gathering up all the elements I would like to use on the tag. Here are some paper elements that I am going to distress with some inks. It will give it that vintage look when finished.

6.) Now come the fun part... placing all the elements where you would like them to be on the tags. Once you have the composition down, adhere them using a strong glue, to make sure they stay. I am using a matte gel medium. You will also notice that I add a few extras before it is fully completed!!

7.) This is also an optional step, but one I feel bis a must. I love making splatters all the piece when it is completed. Give a pop of color and bring everything together. For this I am using acrylic inks (watered down paints for the use of an ink). With a paint brush - small tipped - dip in the ink and tap all over the tags until it looks just how you like it.

Tea Time Stencil Card

Hello Crafty Friends! I'm happy to be back on the Clear Scraps Blog with a easy card making project using one of the new Clear Scraps Stencils. Who doesn't enjoy a cup of tea while cardmaking!

Supply List: 

White heavy cardstock, watercolor card or blank 8x8 card base

Clear Scraps "Tea Time" Stencil  (6x6 size) is what I used for my project. You can find it here Tea Time Stencil

Spectrum Noir Harmony Inks in Fushia,Plum Pudding and Oasis

Diecut sentiment or stamped sentiment  (I used a diecut from Crafters Companion Vintage Tea Party)

Ink dabbers, Washi tape or painters tape to hold stencil in place 

Paper trimmer, diecutting machine, ribbon or tulle, crystal gem, corner edge stickers, foam dots and glue

Assorted colored and or glitter cardstock 

To begin I cut my white card to measure 6x5 3/4 and applied tape around all edges of  my Clear Scraps stencil to hole it in place. I then took my ink dabber and Spectrum Noir Oasis Harmony ink, rubbed off the excess on a piece of scrap cardboard, then  in a swirling motion, I applied ink over my stencil. Continue adding the other two inks and go over the stencil image, until you get the look you want. Harmony Inks blend pretty easily and you don't need too much. 

When finished carefully remove your stencil from your card base. Let dry. 

Next chose two coordinating papers to mat your card. For the turquoise paper I glued down onto my card base. I chose some glitter card for my second layer and I cut to 73/4 inches, leaving about 1/4 inch border of my turquoise base card visible. Then I applied foam dots to the back of my glitter card before adhering on top of my turquoise layer. 

Take your stencil layer card and add foam dots to the back and then adhere this on top of your glitter card. On 3 of the glitter card corners I added some silver edged corner stickers.

Next I diecut a sentiment and glued it to the top right corner of my card. You may use one of favorite stamped sentiments or sticker if you prefer. 

Lastly I tied a piece of Turquoise Tulle into a bow and glued it to the upper left hand corner of my card. I glued a purple sparkle gem to the middle of my bow!

Mini Shaker Vintage Truck Gift Bag by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing one of the new mini shakers.   With 14 new shakers in the store, I chose to use the Mini Shaker Vintage Truck  for today's project.

The  Mini Shaker Vintage Truck comes with 4 chipboard pieces  plus one acrylic piece.   

I painted the die cut pieces with red paint then poured Gold Glamour Pigment on the top panel to give it a little shimmer.

The base truck was painted with gold paint, then I  also poured Gold Glamour Pigment on the base panel to give it a little shimmer.

Gluing 2 of the die cut trucks to the base, I stamped a phrase inside.

Placing mini beads in the cavity, I then glued the acrylic panel (remember to remove the film on both sides of the panel) and the last die cut truck in place.  I placed a heavy book on top and let it sit overnight before continuing with my project.

Using travel papers, I decorated the front of a gift bag.  Then I placed the truck slightly off center.

How fun this would be to give to someone who is heading off on a journey whether that be to college or even a scheduled trip.  Fill it with some of the recipient's favorite goodies -  some candy, some cookies, a notebook and even a pen to document the journey.

Acrylic "Imagine" Back to School Project

Hiya! Tami here to share a project with you featuring another wonderful Clear Scraps product... Imagine Expressions Clear Word Title.

The Imagine Expressions Clear Word Title comes in 2 sizes:  Small: approx 2" X 6" and Large approx 5" X 15", I chose to use the large size for this project.

School has started or will be starting soon for most of us. And whether it will take place in a school building or at home, kids and teachers alike could probably use a little inspiration.

What child or teacher wouldn't love to have this rainbow bright sign decorating their classroom or learning space...

Alcohol Inks and acrylic go togther like peanut butter and jelly! They are a great way to add color while keeping the "transparency" of the acrylic.

I like to work on the back of the piece I'm inking. That way you have a smooth shiny surface on the front.

First, like with any of Clear Scrap's Acrylic pieces, you need to remove the protective liner from BOTH sides. Clear Scrap's Acrylic is crystal clear!

Next I chose 7 colors of alcohol ink, one for each letter in "Imagine". 

Then working on the backside and with the top of the letters facing towards me, I began adding drops of red ink to the "I"...

I like to work with the tops of the letters facing me so I can blow the ink down towards the ends of the letters,

you could also tilt the piece to make ink run or use a straw to blow it around...

I added ink until the letter was completely inked, I added a bit of red to the side of the "m" then repeated the steps with the pink ink. I wanted the colors to overlap slightly at the edges. I kept inking each letter: "a" with orange, "g" with yellow, "i" with green, "n" with aqua and "e" with purple...

I let the inks dry, then went back and added "dots", tiny drops of matching ink in scattered areas of each letter, this creates a "bloom" pattern on them...

I let the inks dry again, then went back in and added drops of pearl ink to the center of each "bloom"; this creates a pretty opaque pearl accent on the letters, like polka dots...

A few notes about your worksurface: 1) alcohol inks stain, so protect your worksurface and your clothing. 2) I prefer to work on absorbent scrap paper instead of a craft mat for this particular project. I wanted any excess ink to be absorbed by the paper instead of seeping around to the front of my acrylic.

And a HINT when working with alcohol inks, there are NO mistakes! You can just keep adding layers of ink until you are happy with results. Or you can wipe them all away using some blending solution and start over!

Hi friends! Hope you are all doing well. It's Maya here on the blog today and I'm so excited to share my first project as a featured designer at Clear Scraps. I created this mixed media Christmas tag using the Acrylic Tag, Mini Shaker Gnome, and 4x6 Brick Wall Stencil. Being a big fan of mixed media, I had so much fun to create on this tag!

Below are the process pictures of how I created this mixed media tag. Before we start, first thing to do is to remove film from both sides. (It's for keeping the tag crystal clear!)

Then, I stamped "Let's celebrate" and "Time for Celebration" on the tag with black archival ink. The ink dried quick and stayed on acrylic surface very well! After the ink dried, I painted some brick pattern using Brick Wall Masking Stencil and red acrylic paint.

Here I used a gnome from Mini Shaker Gnome pack and embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I traced the gnome to a paper, cut it and glued it to the gnome.

 

 

The next steps are pretty easy and fun. I cut a paper into slanted and adhered to the background. Then I adhered the gnome and some ephemera pieces for decoration.

 

 

Lastly, I created snow effect by tapping a foam brush with white acrylic paint. I also tied a lanyard using red lace ribbon to finish it up.

Gnome Sweet Gnome

Hello friends! It's Jennifer on the blog to share a home decor project I  created using one of the new Mini Shaker Shapes! The Gnome Mini Shaker is probably one of the cutest (and most popular) that I've seen so far!  I  decided to pair it with the House Medium DIY Pallet Shape to make a fun wall hanging. 

Beginning with the House Medium DIY Pallet Shape, I  used brown acrylic paint and applied with baby wipes. Your end effect will look as if you've used wood stain!  I    applied my paint directly to the pallet and wiped across with the baby wipe. 

I  set aside my pallet to work on my Gnome Mini Shaker.  I  wanted to add different patterns to the base chipboard so I  applied each in layers.  I  began at the bottom using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive cutting away excess paper with my x-acto knife. 

I  also used my sanding tool to smooth any edges as well. 

I  adhered my two chipboard frames together and adhered to the base chipboard before adding my sequins. Next, I  affixed my acrylic followed by the top chipboard frame. 

Here is a close up of the finished Gnome Mini Shaker! I  added a small chipboard heart to his hat as well as used brown chalk ink around the edges. 

Using my Silhouette, I  used coordinating prints to cut a wreath as well as my title "Gnome Sweet Gnome". Again, I   adhered all using my Beacon Adhesive. 

Lastly, I  punched holes at the top of my pallet to thread ribbon through to hang my creation!

2020 Stenciled Journal

 

Greetings!  Chris here sharing this journal I started to member this odd 2020 year. And what a year it has been so far.   Working in the health field has been challenging, but so many other things happened not only in the world, but also personally in our family this year, I wanted to not only remember this in years to come, but hopefully, look back and see that God has brought us through it.  

 

I am going to share how I created the album covers.  To recreate this journal you will need:

 Clear Scraps 2020 shaker 

 Clear Scraps Quarterfoil Stencil

 Clear Scraps Brick Wall Stencil

 Clear Scraps Butterfly flock Stencil 

 

other supplies

Distress Ink, Blender Brushes, Printed Tissue Paper, Embossing ink and powder, modge podge, Stamps, grid index cards, sequins

 

Cover the  Clear Scraps 6x8 Blank Wood Album with tissue paper using adhesive under the tissue paper only. 

 

 

Using stencils ink tissue paper with distress inks. 

                   

 

 

Keep layering stencils over each other.

 

 

You can see below the front and back of the album.  

Apply modge podge over stenciled covers.  Due to the nature of the distress inks the ink made bleed a bit but it matches the mood of the year and my album.  Tear a piece of paper and ink edges.  Stamp sentiments and adhere to front of the album. 

To create your shaker, coat the top layer of your  Clear Scraps 2020 shaker  with embossing ink and then embossing powder of your choice.  Heat emboss and set aside. 

Assemble the bottom pieces of the shaker.  I used grid note cards cover my numbers in 2020.  

Assemble your shaker and add sequins. 

 

Remove both pieces of protective covering from acrylic and adhere to shaker.  Add embossed top layer to finish.Add finished shaker to front of album to finish. 

 

 

 

 

Fall Tag with Chipboard Oak Trees

Hola! Tami here with you today.

The calendar may say it's September, but here in San Antonio the thermometer is still inching upwards of 100 degrees EVERY day! I could use some soft fall breezes right now.

So if fall won't come to me outside, I decided to bring a little bit of it inside. Clear Scraps has many Chipboard Embellishments and the Oak Trees is a beautiful one...

I thought they would be even more stunning decked out in the wonderful colors of Autumn.

Here is the tag I made using the Oak Trees Chipboard Embellishment...

To make the tag, I first spritzed the tag with a sky blue towards the top and brown and rust towards the bottom.

I also cut some hills from chipboard and spritzed them as well using copper and brown...

Next I colored the leafy portions of the trees with pearlized inks; I did one in silver and one in gold...

Then I added areas of different colors of gelatos around the leafy portions of the chipboard pieces...

and then blended the colors slightly...

the branches and trunk were colored in with pencils...

the sentiment was stamped at the right of the front hill in black ink...

then the elements were assembled on the tag using foam tape to add dimension to the top hill and left tree...

to finish the tag, I tied some raffia in a bow at the top and embellished it with leaves

I made by inking cardstock with several colors of pearlized ink, then stamping the leaf pattern over it...

Featured Designer Ramya Abhijit

Hello and good morning to all!! This is Ramya from Artconquers and I'm so happy to share my first project using Clear Scrap products and I'm featuring one of my favorite Wood Pallet shapes: the Circle Medium DIY Pallet Shape!  This is such a versatile product and I  turned it to wall decor for my craft room. You can check out the items here and they do have an awesome collection of other shapes like heart, cupcake, mason jar etc.

How to:

• I created my own template while making the paper succulents of different size and then placed the template on the surface of the cardstock and cut the shapes out.
• I colored the edges of the petals with pastel chalk and smudged them with the help of a sponge.
• I used a dotting tool for curling the petals and glued them one by one.
• At last, I arranged the leaves and paper succulents onto the pallet
• I placed the logo on the centre of the pallet but you can use the name/quotes of your choice.
