Large Chipboard Embellishments Home Decor

Hello! It's Jennifer here to share a home decor project I created with a few new Clear Scraps products! I   began with the Rectangle 12x10 Medium DIY Pallet Shape and covered each slat with patterned paper.  Using a solvent based adhesive, such as Beacon, works best with the birch wood.  

Next, I  painted the Tractor Large Chipboard Embellishment using off white for the body and black for the tires and steering wheel. 

Once the paint was dry, I  applied a thin coat of crackle paint over the body of the Tractor.  You won't notice the crackle effect until the next step. And this medium does take a bit longer to dry. 

My plan was to paint the tractor pink but my paint did not quite match my paper. So after applying the pink I  did add a coat of the off white to lighten the color.  You can see here the close up of the crackle. 

Using my Beacon,  I covered the Home Large Chipboard Embellishment with patterned paper.  I  then removed excess paper with an x-acto knife and sanding tool. I   adhered the letters with the same adhesive. 

I  added paper flowers from my stash to the back tire of the tractor as well as bow sticker from the collection I  used. You can also see enamel dots and chipboard plus signs for accent. 

I  also added a couple paper flowers to the "O" in my Home Chipboard Embellishment as well as some twine.  You can use a hole punch at the top of the pallet in order to hang your creation or leave as is!

Spring Floral Cone Using Chipboard Banners

Hello,

Tami here with a brightly colored project that is just perfect for spring.

As the weather starts to warm up, it's time to shake off the muted colors of winter and brighten up our homes with the colors of spring. And what is more "Spring-y" than flowers? I'll show you how to easily turn the Clear Scraps Large Chipboard Banner into a cone that you can hang on the wall and fill with flowers.

The Clear Scraps banner sets are great to use to make decor, holiday or party banners. But they can be used for more than that as you can see from this project. 

The triangle shapes of the banner pieces make it simple to attach 3 together to make a cone. I used paint on the scalloped edge of the banner pieces, then covered the rest with printed paper. Cardstock hinges connect the pieces to form the cone. 

Here is a short video that shows you how to make this cone for your own home decor. 

This pretty cone would also make a special gift once you fill it with flowers. You could also cover the cone in neutral colors, then change out the flowers to match the season.

If you or a friend is planning a wedding, these cones would look beautiful on the church pews or on the chairs lining the aisle. For outdoor weddings, decorate the space by hanging them in the trees. 

For the sample project, I only embellished 2 of the 3 chipboard pieces as the back of the cone is against the wall and did not need to be covered or painted. If the cones will be hung where all 3 sides will show, just embellish the third side as well.

Vacation Shaker Magnets

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a quick tutorial for these cute little shaker magnets.  I don't know about you, but the hint of spring in the air has me dreaming of summer vacation already, and these little magnets are the perfect way to remind myself that I'll be lying on the beach or heading off in our camper in no time!

Of all the new shakers in the Clear Scraps shop, the little flip flops may be my favorite!  First I traced the sandal shape onto some bright and summery scrapbook paper and then I cut it out and adhered it to the chip back shape with liquid glue.  After adhering two more chip forms on top of the chip back with liquid glue, I added sand from one of my family's more recent beach trips and sealed the memories inside with the acrylic divider.  To coat the top chip form in shiny black enamel, I applied Versamark ink and black embossing powder before melting it with my heat tool.

The camper shaker was assembled in much the same way, trading in some pine tree scrapbook paper for the summery pattern and silver embossing powder for the black embossing powder.  I added woodgrain and forest green sequins to the shaker before sealing it up with the acrylic divider that I applied a blue foil rub-on sentiment to the front of.

I added strong magnets to the back of each shaker with hot glue so that I could stick these to my kitchen appliances and dream of summer vacations past and those to come!

Scatter Kindness Mason Jar Pallet

 

Chris here and today I am excited to share this Spring-y home decor I created using Clear Scraps Mason Jar Medium DIY Pallet Shape. These pallet shapes are so fun to play and create with! They work up very quickly and make perfect last minute gifts.  (if you are painting you still have to allow the paint to dry though) I made this one to hang outside my office.  

Start by painting your Clear Scraps Mason Jar Medium DIY Pallet Shape. I chose a bright and cheery turquoise-y color to coordinate with my papers. 

Die cut or fussy cut your sentiment to fit pallet. Add paper doily and die cut sentiment to pallet. 

I just love how the colors look so bright and cheery! 

Add a floral sprig to the top of your pallet. 

Finish off your pallet with a jute bow.  

I hope you decide to give these pallets a try!  

DIY Shaker Camera Wood Sign

Hello everyone... Helen is here today. I’d like to share this fun Shaker Camera Wood Sign that I made using the new Wood Shapes Per 3 Pak and Mini Shaker Camera. These are supen fun new products! There are more at the store, too!

I love taking pictures with my camera, especially my family pictures. When I saw this Mini Shaker Camera chipboard embellishment, I want to use it on this project along with my favorite quote.

First, the base I used is one of the new Wood Shapes Per 3 Pak. I covered the wood with the marble patterned scrapbook paper. I traced the wood on the paper and then cut it with scissors. I added it on the wood with Beacon 3-in-1 adhesive glue.

I covered the top and bottom pieces of this shaker camera chipboard with white gesso and then silver metallic paint. I did it with my finger to get the random distressed look on the camera.

When the painted pieces dried, I stacked all the pieces using the Beacon 3-in-1 adhesive glue. When you work with shaker pieces, there is 2 pieces of clear plastic film on the protect the plastic piece ofthe shaker that you need to remove first before you add it on the chipboard. For the shaker filler, I used the mixed sequins I have in my stash. I put stackes of acrylic blocks to hold the pieces down while the glue drying.

I used my digital stamps on for the quote and frame. I edited them on my computer using the Pixlmator Pro software and then print it with Cannon inkjet printer. I colored the frame with Spectrum Noir Illustrator Alcohol Marker. I fussy cut it with scissors.

I added the sentiment and camera on the wood with the same adhesive glue. If you don’t have the Beacon 3-in-1 adhesive glue, make sure your glue is strong, permanent and works on all surefaces, including wood.

This sign is now up in my craft room to remind me that there is hope for another shot in this life. So, don’t give up!

Welcome Home by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today using some of the new products available at Clearscraps.

The new wood puzzle shapes are so much fun to work with. 

Start by separating the house puzzle pieces and then paint with light brown and dark brown paints.

Tape the 6" Shiplap Stencil to the chimney and add modeling paste.

 

Stamp paw prints in black ink around the light brown panels.

Stamp the paw prints at the top of the house.  Use stickers to spell out welcome across the roof.

Run twine across the roof, then "hang" acrylic Small Pennants banner pieces that were painted with pink paint.   Add stickers spelling home.

Add photos.  Since we just adopted a new puppy, I wanted to welcome her to her new home.

Clear Scraps Mini Shaker -- Luck of the Irish

Hello there everyone!  Laura here with you today to share

a bit of Irish luck with you, in this cute little card!

Being Irish, I've got to admit, St. Patty's is one of my

favorite holidays!  I love creating cards and home

decor projects with the pretty paper collections and

the rainbow of colors, just like this card shows off

all of those bright, fun colors!  And even though

St. Patty's has passed, why not just send a few

"luck of the Irish" cards just because?  And this

card is super simple, because all the focus is on the

star of the show, the adorable Clear Scraps shaker!

This one is the Mini Shaker Mason Jar.  So fun to just

trace on paper to create a background, like I did here

with the cute lucky shamrock paper, then layer it up

adding a few beads and sequins to create a shimmery

bit of sparkle under the acrylic layer!  These mini shakers

are so fun to create with!  And don't be afraid to use them

 to make cards! If you are giving in person, or adding to

a package, they really make a wonderful addition to any

gift!  You can see, I also added a few stickers, layering

them on using some foam tape.  Just a few, I didn't want

to overwhelm the shaker.  It's great even on it's own!

Before I put it all together, I did paint the outside of the

jar.  I used black acrylic paint on the body of the jar, and

then used gray paint on the lid.

I added a little bit of black paint to the lid using a foam

brush with barely and paint on it to give the lid an aged

look, then tied a bit of twine around the base of the lid

to give it a bit of color.  It adds a nice finishing touch.

Hello Spring Pallet

Hola! Tami here to share another project with you.

Are you ready for Spring? Better be ‘cause it’s here! March 19 was the first day of Spring this year.

To celebrate the coming of Spring I'd like to show you how to create a decor piece using Clear Scraps Medium Square Pallet Shape and 2 of their stencils; Hello Spring and Doily Mat.

I whitewashed the pallet, lightly sanded it, then added portions of the Doily Mat stencil to different parts of the pallet using white paint. Gel pens were used to add the design. 

When you look at a stencil, think about how you can use the parts differently. You can also flip some stencils over to change the direction of the design. For this project, I layered the flowers individually to create my designs.

Here is a short video that shows you how I made the sample piece.

 

My gel pens worked beautifully on the wood, but I would suggest that you try yours out on the back of the pallet. You could also use markers or ink to apply the designs. But make sure whatever product you are using will not bleed with the wood grain.

Springtime Flower Basket Card

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a quick tutorial for this pretty springtime flower basket card made with one of the newest chipboard embellishments in the Clear Scraps shop.  Although the Basket Chipboard embellishment begs to be used on all of your Easter projects, it's super versatile and could be filled with seashells, pumpkins, or poinsettias for use all year long!

I started by pressing my Versamark ink pad all over the basket chipboard shape several times until I had a nice even coating.  Then I poured light pink embossing powder over the shape and melted it with my heat tool.  After repeating these steps one more time, I was left with a shiny pink enamel embellishment that looked like I bought it that way!

To create the subtle plaid background for the card, I first ran a piece of light blue cardstock through my diecutting machine with the 6" Diamonds stencil and an embossing pad.  This left an embossed diamond impression over the entire panel.  Then, I shifted the stencil over my embossed piece so that the diamond cutouts would line up with the "x" of the embossed pattern.  After applying white pigment ink through the stencil, the result was a subtle plaid pattern with both color and texture.

I matted the plaid panel with some gold cardstock before adhering it all to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  To keep the background from showing through the basket, I cut some kraft cardstock to fit behind the chipboard shape and adhered it to the back before adding the basket to the front of the card with liquid glue.

After filling the basket with some die-cut, shaped, and inked daisies, I added a small gold bow to the handle and a foiled sentiment across the bottom.

Laura here today to share a springtime project

Well, back to this bright, cheerful, burst of spring project!

Another great wooden item you can paint, cover with

paper, or do whatever you'd like!

On this one, I covered each piece individually with

paper, then brushed the edges with acrylic paint.  Ink

was a little more subtle than I wanted.   I wanted it to

be bright and cheerful since it was a springtime project.

Then, super easy, I basically created a cute card front!

Just layered up a little paper and a few stickers, and

attached to one of the puzzle pieces.

The next piece was covered with pretty bright flower

patterned paper, and in addition to the stickers.

Look at the sweet little bunny!  New, new, new!

The Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Bunny!

The frame is painted with white acrylic paint,

I traced the bunny onto colorful floral paper to

use as the backing, and added a few little beads

and sequins.  A button, bow, and springtime

sticker finish off this super cute shaker!

The other 2 puzzle pieces were decorated also,

using more of the bright colorful stickers, papers,

and also a few enamel dots.

Stenciled Background Two Ways

Hello everyone... Helen is here today. I want to share these couple cards that I created using the stencil in two ways technique with the 4x6 Brick wall Stencil.

This stencil in two ways technique is a fun way to create backgrounds with stencil that you can get the most out of your stencil and ink.

First background is adding the ink directly on the card using stencil and blending brush or bledding applicator.

I die cut couple of the gelli printing cardstocks I have in my stash with the pot, cactus and flowers. Then I cut out the thanks word sentiment from a piece of black glitter cardstock using the word die. I added all the pieces directly on a white card with permanent adhesive glue.

I used Vintage Distress Ink and blending oval brush on the first card. I applied the ink around the die cuts to create the brick wall look. I removed the stencil and did not wipe off the ink on it.

With the ink still on the stencil, I sprayed it lightly with water and then I used it to stamp on a watercolor paper. I pressed the inky stencil on the paper with paper towel. And I got the soft watercolor printed brick wall background for the second background on this card.

I cut and embossed the background panel with one of the Double Stitched Rectangle Dies. I added it on a creme card base with permanent adhesive glue. And then I added the sentiment banner on the card with 3D foam tape, and I added the flower (stamped, colored and cut) on the card with the same permanent adhesive.

Easter Panel by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today using some of the new products available at ClearScraps.

The panel I used is approximately 8" x 10".  I divided the panel into 2 sections, one for the grass and one for the sky, then dry brushed on the paints.

 

The Bunny Mini Wood Pallet Shape was painted pink and Nuvo drops were added to her ears for dimension.  She was then placed on the grass.  The Easter chipboard word title was painted purple and glued above the bunny.  A strip of Rinea Foiled Paper in Emerald was torn and placed across the panel, then the bunny was added on top.

 

 

Using a small oval die, I die cut assorted papers to create Easter eggs.  They were placed around the panel and Nuvo Drops were added to several eggs for dimension.

 

 

I used a Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the panel and added ribbon for hanging.

Pretty in Pink Phone Stand

Greetings!  Chris here and today I am excited to share this adorable phone stand I created for Clear Scraps!   Although I do have a confession.  I use this stand to hold my calculator at my desk at work!   The silly calculator was always getting buried under paperwork , but now it has a pretty stand! 

I started by tracing my Clear Scraps Hearts Wood Phone Stand  onto patterned paper.   I chose background papers with a sentiment that fit into the heart cut outs. 

Paint the Clear Scraps Hearts Wood Phone Stand  with paint and let dry. 
After cutting out the papers for my stand I decided to trim away some of the paper so that only the bottom of stand was covered.  I also fussy cut the butterfly to add to top of the phone stand.
I adhered to papers with Mod Podge.

After covering the base, the fit was very snug.  To make the pieces fit together easier, I sanded the edges to make them easier to assemble.

Mason Jar Banner

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a quick tutorial to make this bright and cheery mason jar banner perfect for spring decorating.  With three jars in this wood shape set, you can use it alone or buy multiples to spell out any name or phrase in the form of a banner or wall hanging.  I've been yearning for spring, so I thought I'd use my banner to wish for May flowers.

I started by sanding each jar shape with a sanding block, and then applied metallic champagne acrylic paint to the surface.  Once dry, I sanded the pieces again and applied a second coat of paint for a smooth, even finish.

Once the shapes were completely dry, I secured the capital letter stencils to each one with painters tape.  Then I applied teal glitter paste through the stencil with a palette knife, removed the stencil immediately when done to wash in soapy water, and allowed it to dry for at least an hour.

Add silk flower bunches to the back of the jars with hot glue and then tie a bow with pretty ribbon around the neck of the jar to secure the flowers even more.  Punch holes on either side of the neck with a heavy duty hole puncher and string the shapes together using rustic twine.  Hang the banner on any wall to instantly cheer up the room!

Love Grows Wild

Happy Thursday Clear Scraps family. Leah here with you today sharing this cute spring home decor sign, and I couldn't resist using this chipboard Vintage LG Truck on the Rectangle Medium Wood Pallet.

I had started off painting this truck a bright fire-engine red, but it didn't work with this paper I wanted to use, so I ended up painting it this non-traditional pink, which makes me SO HAPPY. It sings spring to me!

I've been with Clear Scraps over 6 years now, so have quite the stash, and included in it are these awesome acrylic flower embellishments.

I ended up staining them with Alcohol ink and adding perfect pearls to create texture. I then just layered looooots of flowers behind the truck!

I love how bright and happy this home decor piece is. I think it will work as a wreath on the front door or right inside the entry way!

I just want to take a minute and Thank Susan and Jim for allowing me to be a part of the Clear Scraps family for so long. I love their products and have believed in them since day one when I started on the Design Team. I will miss making projects and sharing them with you, but will always love and support this company. <3
