Mason Jar DIY Wood Shapes

Hello friends! Hope your weekend is off to a good start!  Today I'm sharing a project I  created with the new Mason Jar DIY Wood Shapes. You receive three shapes in each package which can be used for a variety of projects!  I  chose to create a mini album because they are one of my favorite to do!  The Mason Jar shape is so cute and very popular right now! I   documented favorite photos from a Mothers Day a few years ago.

I  began by painting the top portion of the shape with chalk paint in grey as I  wanted the "lid" to have a metal color.  Then using my Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive I   adhered patterned paper to the remainder.

I  utilized my border punches as well as the colorful strips of patterned paper to break up the lines between the "lid" and "jar". Using an x-acto knife and sanding tool was very helpful in removing excess paper as well as smoothing edges.

The Mason Jar will fit 4x4 and 4x5 photos perfectly. I  will almost always mat my pictures onto cardstock to add contrast. I  will also cut a same size piece of patterned paper to adhere behind my photo as well.  (I  like lots of layers!).

For the back page, I  had thought about painting the entire surface grey but decided to add in another photo.  So, I  adhered my patterned paper at a slant and added two of the flowers to accent.

To finish, I  used my Crop o dile to punch holes in the appropriate sides for my book rings.  I  then added a bright yellow piece of ribbon to accent!
