Gelli Printing Technique On Cards and Pallet Wood

Hello crafty friends... Thanksgiving is about 3 days away and I have couple projects to share with you that you can make in the last minutes. On both projects, I use the basic gelli printing technique on pallet wood and cardstock.

My first project is this CAS card set, I use the 6" Fall Leaves Stencil, 6x6 Gelli Printing Plate, and multi-surface acrylic paints on white cardstocks.

First, add first layer paint (I used orange) on the gelli printing plate and spread it with brayer. Next, add the stencil on top of it and then add the cardstock. Gently press the cardstock on the gelli printing plate, move all over the surface to get the paint transfer to the cardstock. Remove the cardstock and you have your first print.

While the negative print still on the gelli printing plate, add more base paint different color (I used white paint), spread it with brayer, and then add the cardstock. Gently press the cardstock on the gelli printing plate, removed it and you get your second print.

The gelli printed cardstocks dried quickly becuase it is acrylic paints. I made sure they are dried well by drying them with craft heater.

I cut them with various square dies and rectangles dies, and then I added them on white cards with 3D foam tape and adhesive runner. I used yellow and orange cardstocks for mats.

I cut out the words out of the orange cardstocks using the Grateful and Blessed word dies. I added the sentiments on the card with dries-clear glue. I embellished the cards with some natural burlap twine ribbon.

The second project is this Pumpkin Pallet Wood Sign. I created that background on the Pumpkin Medium DIY Pallet Shaped Wood using the 6" Fall Leaves Stencil, 6x6 Gelli Printing Plate, and multi-surface acrylic paints.

First, I taped the stem with painter tape and then painted the whole pumpkin pallet wood surface with light yellow paint as the base color. I used brayer instead of brush for extra texture on the wood. Let the paint dried well before the next step.

For this printing step, we have to work fast white paint still wet. First, I added some of the orange paint on the gelli printing plate, spread it with brayer, and then I added the stencil on it. I added another piece of white cardstock, pressed gently to get the print, and then removed the cardstock. Here I got another printed cardstock for future project.

Next is the stamping with the gelli printing plate step. Make sure the paint still wet. I removed the stencil, picked up the gelli printing plate and then I used that gelli printing plate to stamp the paint on the wood. While the gelli plate still on the wood, I pressed of firm to transfer the paint.

I repeated this printing and stamping steps several times until the whole surface covered with the leaves pattern.

When the whole surface dried well. I used make up sponge to add the orange paint around the edge and I painted the stem with brown paint and small flat brush.

I added the Grateful, Thankful, Blessed XL Script Wood Quote on the pumpkin with wood glue. I put some acrylic stamping blocks on it to press it down while the glue drying. It took 15-30 minutes to make sure the glue dried well.

After that, I decorate the pumpkin with some thick natural burlap twine and some gold leaves ribbon. I secured them on the wood with glue stick.

I hope you all get some more Thanksgiving ideas and check out Clear Scraps store for the wood pallets, wood words, and stencils.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. We hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving weekend with your loved ones and family!
