Give Thanks Jumbo Wood Tag
October 21, 2019
Hello and happy Monday! It's Jennifer here to share one of the new Clear Scraps products released this past summer! I love all of the wood home decor pieces especially this time of year! I used the Jumbo Scallop Wood Tag to create this fun, fall door hanger. And I'm going to show you the techniques I used!
I began by painting my tag with brown acrylic paint. I did not apply more than one coat as I wanted the grain of the wood to show through. That is one of the many nice qualities about the birch wood is that it accept the paint very well.
Next, using washi tape, I secured the Give Thanks 6x16 Farmhouse Stencil to the top of my tag. I selected white metallic paste to apply with a spatula. I was sure to add a thin layer ensuring to smooth with the spatula as I went.
Here is the end result of my metallic paste + stencil! It's not perfect and that's ok. I always feel like its a learning process when using the stencils.
After drying, I used a sanding tool to rough the edges of my tag to give a distressed look. All Jumbo Tags include a rope for hanging however, I used my own fall colored ribbon as well as added some floral sprigs.
Thank you for stopping by the blog today! Check out all things new by clicking HERE! Have a great day!
Additional products used: paint: DecoArt; metallic paste: Heidi Swapp; misc: ribbon, floral sprigs.
