Mixed Media Cards by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here with a set of mixed media cards.

Congratulations-clearscraps-stencils-steph-ackerman

Last month, I created a mixed media project using the 6" Shiplap and 6" Wood Grain stencils. Rather than clean the stencils immediately, I turned them over and rubbed the excess modeling paste onto cardstock releasing the remaining modeling paste. Then I cleaned the stencils.  It may look like a mess, but follow along as I show you how I created my cards.

Mixed-media-cards-clearscraps-stencils-steph-ackerman

I cut the panels into 5 1/2" squares then added color with spray inks. After spraying each color I heat set the color before spraying the next color.

Congratulations-clearscraps-stencils-1-steph-ackerman

Once I liked the colors, the panels were matted with white cardstock and wrapped with white ribbon before being added to the cards.

Using Spellbinders dies, I die cut cardstock elements for the card.

Joy Clair stamps were used for the center of the card.

The elements were added to the card with foam adhesives.

Congratulations was added to the ribbon on each card with a paper tagger.

Ghost Medium DIY Pallet Shape

Hello and happy Monday! Today I'm sharing a project I  created with some new fall/Halloween themed Clear Scraps products! I  love this time of year and creating my own DIY home decor.  Using the Ghost Medium DIY Pallet Shape, I  created a fun door knob hanger! And I'm going to share the techniques I  used!

Clear_Scraps_Ghost_Medium_DIY_Pallet_Shape

I  began by painting my pallet with black chalk paint.  You can use any paint you choose as the birch wood takes the paint in nicely.

Next, I  used the Oct 31st 4x6 Stencil with modeling paste. I  held my stencil in place with washi tape for extra security.

Before lifting my stencil and allowing the modeling paste to dry, I  sprinkled some fine sparkle glitter to the top of the paste.  I  set my pallet upright to remove any excess glitter before removing the stencil. I  also found that using a spatula to remove any excess modeling paste from in between the slats was helpful.

Here is the end result of the stencil/paste! It definitely looks more "shiny" in person and I  love how it turned out!

Last, I  used the Pumpkins Chipboard Embellishments as a cute accent to my pallet!  I  adhered patterned paper to the solid pumpkin trimming any excess with scissors.  I  then painted the 2nd pumpkin with orange chalk paint and adhered on top of the patterned paper. I  thought some Halloween colored bakers twine would be cute tied around the stem!

I  punched hole in the top of my pallet with my Crop-o-dile and threaded ribbon through so I  could hang my creation! Thanks for stopping by the blog today!  Have a great day!

Back to School layout

Hiya, Clear Scraps friends! Today I'm sharing this cute back to school layout featuring Clear Scraps 12x12 acrylic sheet, 6" Magical fairy Stencil, and the swirl acrylic border & acrylic letters and numbers.

BacktoSchool_LeahCrowe

I edged the 12x12 acrylic layout using Alcohol inks in yellow. Their school colors are yellow and green, so I tried to incorporate those colors with the stenciling in the title, the swirl border at the bottom of the page, and along the acrylic edge of the layout.

I loved the small stars on the magical fairy stencil and used washi tape to block off parts of the stencil that I didn't want to be transferred to the acrylic letters.

HowtoBacktoSchool_LeahCrowe

I used stazon ink and stenciled the stars on the front side of the acrylic numbers.

HowtoBacktoSchool2_LeahCrowe

I then turned the letters over and alcohol inked the backside of the letters.

I wanted the letters to pop and was going to outline them in a sharpie marker, but the ink ran out in my marker. I decided to rub the tip of the marker on my black stazon ink and used that to transfer the ink to the edge of the acrylic letters.

Here are a could of close-ups from the layout.

Vintage truck1_Clear Scraps_C. Mercerwm
Instructions:

2. Paint the truck with acrylic paint of your choice.  Mark off the tires.
3. Paint the tires black and the hub caps gray or silver.
4. Paint the side bars brown.
5. Sand lightly and wipe off.

6. Create a fishing pole out of a yard stick.  Attach it to the side bar of the truck.
7. Apply the "gone fishing" stencil by Clear Scraps to the front of the truck.
8. I used Jet Black Archival ink.

Vintage truck3_Clear Scraps_C. Mercerwm
9. I used the 6"Beach Fun and 6"Ocean friends stencils to add the fish and hook to the "gone fishing" (I wanted it to look more like a logo on the side of a truck).

A few tips to keep in mind when creating this project~
Rubbing Alcohol will take off the acrylic paint in case of a goof up.  Remove the problem area and then touch up with more paint. I use cotton balls.
To get the tires round (without a stencil or guide) I use my pinky finger as a stabilizer (like a compass) to get the shape of the top circle.
To put the "gone fishing"on~first apply the "gone" above the rear tire and then apply "fishing" above the running board.
One more~I used ink with the stencils and not paint. You will get  really crisp words this way.

XL Wood Wagon

Hello! It's Jennifer on the blog today sharing one of the new Clear Scraps releases!  I  used the XL Wood Wagon as a fun fall home decor project and I'm going to show you my techniques!

Clear_Scraps_XL_Wood_Wagon

I  began by painting the body of the wagon with white acrylic paint. I  left the wheels bare for now as I   planned to paint them later.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Wood_Wagon2

Once my acrylic paint was dry, I  applied crackle paint to the surface.  This step takes a bit longer to dry and you don't notice that its actually working until the next step.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Wood_Wagon3

After ensuring my crackled paint was dry, I  applied brown acrylic paint to the surface.  As your second color begins to dry, this is when you can see the crackle effect.  Here is a close up shot of my wagon.  You can also see I  painted my wheels with black acrylic paint. I  simply used a bit of washi tape to partition off the wheels so that my black paint did not bleed onto the rest of my project.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Wood_Wagon4

Here, I  used the Gather XL Script Wood Word which I  painted with cream acrylic paint. I  usually adhere my pieces with Beacon 3-in-1 but this time I  used my hot glue gun to ensure a good hold.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Wood_Wagon6

I  had purchased a couple bouquets of fall flowers at a local craft store. I  trimmed the stems and adhered the flowers with my hot glue gun. I  also added some fun fall ribbon to accent.

Clear_Scraps_XL_Wood_Wagon8

Last, I   adhered twine to the back of the wagon in order to hang my creation! It looks great on my front door...just in time for fall!

Thank you for stopping by the blog today! You can see all of the new Clear Scraps releases by going HERE! Have a great day!

Every Moment Matters Wall Hanging

IMG_3779wm

Happy September!   Where oh where is this year going!   It is flying by!  I decided to create this little reminder that every moments matters.   I love our family vacations where its just us (well,  and sometimes lots of crowds depending on where we go).  Limited work (as hubby and I sometimes still have to take work calls) and no school, just lots of time with just us.

I created this wall hanging using Clear Scraps   new " Every Moment Matters" XL wood quote and Jumbo Scallop Wood Tag.

IMG_3762

Normally When I get new product, I have to think on it to decide what I want to create.  I knew immediately what I wanted to do this time.

Start by staining or color washing your wood tag and let dry.

Color wash or stain XL quote.

Add clips in number and layout desired.
