Shabby Chic Lamp Post Embellishments

Hi everyone!

Thanks for joining me for this project.

I love creating embellishments that I can use on various projects.

I love chipboard embellishments the most.

They are sturdy and can be used on just about anything from cards to layouts to altered items.

Today I have taken the Lamp Post Chipboard embellishments and decorated them up.

Watermarked-20190810_090110

I love shabby chic so I gave these embellishments the shabby treatment.

I painted them with some chocolate bar acrylic paint first.

Once that was dried I painted on some crackle medium, letting that dry before

adding my ivory paint.  I got a very nice crackle effect.

I took some distress ink to make the cracks pop even more.

Watermarked-20190810_090110

Once everything was dried really well, I added some string pearls, blue seam binding,

and some very small blue flowers.

I added some glossy accents to which would be the globes of the lamp posts.

Watermarked-20190810_090110

These came out awesome!

Now I have some great shabby chic embellishments for my next project!

I hope you try this out and build your embellishment stash!!

Thanks, Kim :)

Cupcake Wood Card~

Hi, Connie here with a Cupcake Wood Card, by Clear Scraps.  Perfect for birthdays or it would go awesome with a dozen cupcakes.  I'm sure you would agree~

Wood card1_Clear Scraps_c.mercer
These wood cards are fun to create and so super cute!!  This one was painted and pattern paper was adhered to the inside of the card.  The pattern paper shows through the cutout cupcake, that you see on the front of the wood card.  Stickers and stamps were used to decorate the front of the card.   My crop-a-dile was used, to punch holes in the wood, so  ribbon could  be used, to tie the card together.

Wood card3_Clear Scraps_c.mercer

I used a "Happy Birthday" sticker on the inside of the card.  The outside and inside were splattered with orange acrylic paint to complete the finished card.

Easy Plaid Christmas Cards

Easy Plaid Christmas Cards by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Main

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a quick tutorial to help you get started early on quick and easy Christmas cards using lots of stencils from the Clear Scraps shop.  These are a great solution if you have tons of Christmas cards to make or are just short on time this year!

Easy Plaid Christmas Cards by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Plaid Background

I started by trimming pieces of green and pink cardstock to 4" x 6".  Then I laid the Plaid Stencil on top and applied blue or red hybrid ink through the stencil using a foam ink blending tool.  I used a combination of pouncing and swirling motions to get a thick and even coating of ink.

Easy Plaid Christmas Cards by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Stenciled Sentiments

Once dry, I secured the Comfort & Joy stencil over top of my red/green plaid background and the Sparkle stencil over top of my pink/blue plaid background.  Using a palette knife, I applied a thick coat of gold or white glitter gel through each stencil.  I removed each stencil as soon as I had smoothed the gel evenly across the sentiment and placed it in some warm, soapy water to clean.

Easy Plaid Christmas Cards by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Assemble

Allow each card front to dry completely and then mat it with either gold or silver metallic cardstock.  Wrap gold or silver metallic ribbon around two corners of the panels and adhere them to a white top-folding 4.5" x 6.5" card base with foam adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy Christmas card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  With tons of different holiday stencils to choose from in the Clear Scraps store, you can find the perfect design to make mass-producing cards fun this year!

Mermaid Adventure by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here with a Mermaid Adventure using the DIY Fin Pallet Shape and several stencils from Clear Scraps.

Mermaid-tail-clearscraps-8-steph-ackerman

I saw this pallet as a Mermaid Tail and went with that theme.  I began by painting the tail with several shades of blue ink.

Mermaid-tail-clearscraps-1-steph-ackerman

Using the Adventure Stencil, I taped it to the bottom of the tail, then used a pallet knife with Gold Creative Medium.

Mermaid-tail-clearscraps-5-steph-ackerman

Removing the stencil, I cleaned it immediately to remove the excess creative medium.

Mermaid-tail-clearscraps-6-steph-ackerman

Then I used the Stripes Layering Stencil with brown paint along the bottom edge.  I worked the edges first, then moved towards the center as the paint dried.  It gave just the right detail to the edge.

Mermaid-tail-clearscraps-4-steph-ackerman

Using Mod Podge Spray Adhesive, I spritzed it along the left edge, then placed the mesh on top.
Creating sea shells from Makin's Clay, I added them along the mesh.

Mermaid-tail-clearscraps-7-steph-ackerman

Then I filled  in the open areas with art stones.  I spritzed additional adhesive over the art stones to ensure they stayed in place.

What would you do with this pallet shape?

Enjoy the Journey Pallet

Hello and happy Friday!  It's Jennifer on the blog to share a home decor project I  created using some of the new Clear Scraps products! If you have not had a chance to play with any of the new wood pallets, you must!   I  began with the Rectangle Medium DIY Pallet Shape as my base and added a coat of brown acrylic paint.

Clear_Scraps_Enjoy_the_Journey_Pallet

Using orange chalk paint, I  then colored the new Enjoy the Journey XL Script Wood Quote.  I  allowed some of the wood to show through to give it a rustic look.  When my Wood Quote was dry, I  adhered it to the pallet using Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive.

Clear_Scraps_Enjoy_the_Journey_Pallet2

I  thought the new Tall Trees Chipboard Embellishment Shapes would go perfect with my outdoor themed project! I  painted the trunks with brown acrylic paint then covered the remainder with patterned paper.  I  used my x-acto knife and a sanding tool to remove any excess paper.

"Hello" Cards using Grass Stencil

Hi everyone!

Thanks for joining me today for these really simple cards.

I have created these cards using the new 4x6 Grass Stencil.

Watermarked-20190809_142354

I love trying new things.  I really like trying to create something that is unique.

Today I have this unique cards.

I wanted to show how versatile the stencils can be.

You can use them with any medium.

Today I used some distress ink.

Watermarked-20190809_151627 Watermarked-20190809_151627

I used my inking tool to add variations of the ink to my cardstock.

In some places I inked a little more and other a little less, to give the grass

definition.  I then cut the cardstock down and added some foam tape to the back

to pop it up off the mat underneath.

Watermarked-20190809_142354

I finished the cards with a simple "hello" sentiment on some cream colored

cardstock, backed with craft, that I cut into a flag banner on one end.

I inked all the layers with distress ink to make it pop.

I hope you give these cards a try!

Thanks, Kim :)

Clear Scraps XL Script Wood Quote--Our Happy Place LO

Hello everybody!  You've got Laura here with you today sharing a LO

using one of the awesome new Clear Scraps XL Script Wood Quotes!

Clear_Scraps_Our Happy Place XL Word Quote_ LO

This one starts with a 12x12 acrylic sheet as the base of the LO.

I added a border strip and then a few journal cards around the outside

edges of the LO to make a fun border.  Then matted my picture and

added that to the top.  This made a great frame for the XL Wood Quote.

Our Happy Place fits so many great occasions!  For me, it always means

our yearly North Carolina beach vacation, so it was the perfect fit!

I painted it with blue acrylic paint, and then sponged on some gray for a

little bit of a distressed look.  Here is a close up pic of where I started to

sponge the gray onto the right side of the word quote:

Clear_Scraps_Our Happy Place XL Word Quote_Ahoy There_close up 2(1)

It gives it a little bit of a beachy feel don't you think?  It also

adds a little more texture to the word quote when you add

a second color to create a sort of highlight.

Same idea that I used for the Clear Scraps Helm and Anchor

chipboard embellishment.

Clear_Scraps_Our Happy Place XL Wood Quote_Ahoy There_close up 1(1)

It's painted with red acrylic paint, and then I brushed the edges

of it with black distress ink using a sponge tool, to really make

the embellishment stand out on the page.  As always, Clear Scraps

gives you so many options when it comes to their embellishments!

You can find all the different chipboard choices HERE in the store,

and you can ink, spray, stamp, paint, and so on to your heart's content!

Clear_Scraps_Our Happy Place XL Word Quote_close up 3

It looks picture perfect when all the embellishments come together,

with a few stickers, and the family picture at the beach!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Stop back soon for more inspiration using more of the amazing

goodies that Clear Scraps carries!

Jumbo Wood Tag by Clear Scraps!

Hi, Connie here with a super cute JUMBO Tag and it is wood, too!  What a cute idea by Clear Scraps.  I added a wood quote, to decorate the wood tag,  along with some acrylic paint, paper and a border stencil by Clear Scraps.   This will be hanging on my door soon!!

Jumbo tag1_Clear Scraps_c.mercer
The tag was painted and then sanded, for that distressed look that I so love.   The "You got this" quote was painted and then sanded lightly.   The checkered border stencil was added to the bottom of the tag, using white acrylic paint.  Ivy was added in random spots on the tag.  I wanted to define the tag shape by adding the tag reinforcement with pink cardstock.  That  was created using a small circle punch and then the hole punch for the center.  Paint splatters were added to the finished tag.

Jumbo tag2_Clear Scraps_c.mercer
The quote was adhered to the Jumbo Wood Tag with Beacon 527.
Great project, for the teen in your home, to create a custom room door tag.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Main

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a tutorial to make this simple photo frame pallet project using pallet shapes, wood quotes, and chipboard embellishments from Clear Scraps.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Basecoat

I started by giving the Rectangle Medium DIY Pallet Shape a quick sanding with a fine grit sanding sponge and then added a coat of white satin finish acrylic paint.  Once dry, I quickly sanded the piece again with the sanding sponge, cleared away any dust, and added a second coat of the same white acrylic paint.  This two-coat process yields a smooth and even base to allow for further alterations.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Crackle Medium

For some fun texture, I then painted the entire piece with Crackle Medium.  Allow this to dry completely before proceeding with your topcoat (it will dry virtually clear with a glossy finish).

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Topcoat

Using a wide brush, I next applied teal acrylic paint over the entire surface of the shape.  At first the paint will appear normal, but as it dries you'll begin to see cracks and your basecoat color will show through.  Thicker layers of your topcoat paint often lead to larger cracks, so play with different techniques to get the result you're looking for.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams - Paint Quote

Because the pallet was so bright and textured, I decided to paint the "Keep Life Simple" wood quote a smooth white with acrylic paint.  Two coats with a light sanding in between resulted in a nice finish.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Embossing Chipboard

The photo frame on my pallet is actually just the border (packaging) from the dragonfly chipboard embellishment.  Once I clipped the dragonflies out of the packaging, I cleaned up all of the edges with scissors and my sanding sponge.  Then I applied Versamark Ink all over the chipboard pieces, added white or platinum embossing powder to the frame or dragonflies, respectively, and melted it with my heat tool.  A second coat of embossing powder to all of the pieces ensured a smooth and sturdy faux enamel finish.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Adhere Photo Frame

I adhered the white frame to my pallet using thin foam strips on just three sides.  Leaving the top open allows me to slide out the picture and change it seasonally or whenever I want.

Simple Life Photo Frame Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Embellish

The wood quote and dragonfly embellishments were adhered to the pallet with hot glue and I created a hanger for the piece out of thick natural jute that was stapled into the back of the boards.

I hope you enjoyed this simple and pretty photo frame pallet project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  What's your favorite wood quote in the Clear Scraps shop?

~ Annie

Additional products used: white and blue acrylic paint, crackle medium, Versamark Ink, white and platinum heat embossing powder, heat tool, sanding sponge, natural jute, hot glue gun

Butterfly Send it Clear Card

Happy Day, friends!
Leah here with you today sharing this beautiful Butterfly Send it Clear Card.

SendItClear-Butterfly3_LeahCrowe
I recently had the need to create a sympathy card and wanted to do so without it saying, "With Sympathy." I just wanted to let them know they are loved and would convey my sympathy in words inside the card. I wanted it to be pretty and the first thing I thought of was Clear Scraps line of Send it Clear Cards. They are so lovely and perfect for any occasion!

Here's a close up of the butterfly.

SendItClear-Butterfly3b_LeahCrowe
The card comes with two front interlocking panels, which you adhere to the back panel. I love how interactive they are!
Here is how it looks opened revealing the inside.

Another unique aspect is the envelope that comes with the card. It is also clear and allows you to see the card through the envelope.

I placed a pretty sticker on the front as well as one on the back of the envelope.

Clear Scraps Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album- It's a Boy!

Hi everyone!  Laura here with you today!

Need a great gift for a baby shower, or for someone about to

have a little one?  This cute little Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album

from Clear Scraps is such a sweet one, and makes a perfect gift!

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album

The album's first page is this cute little pair of overalls, you

can cover with patterned paper (like I did here) or paint.

Love the way the page behind looks like a little t-shirt with it's

sleeves peeking out!  It looks great with the contrasting paper!

The It's a Boy is one of the Clear Scraps Chipboard Word Titles.

They have a lot of options, and also have one that says It's a Girl.

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 2

Here is the back of the overalls.  Just a few stickers, and a journal

box make a super simple page, but so adorable too!

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 3

Here is the first of the t-shirt pages.  I put the spot for the picture

a little lower on this first one, so nothing would show through

at the neckline of the front page when the album was closed up.

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 4(1)

It's always good to include some blank journal cards in a mini album

so the recipient can add a little story, or it could be used for a photo.

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 6

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 7

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 8

I used a different patterned paper on every page, to make it a little

more interesting.  You can mix it up any way you like, all the pages

could be the same, and then use the mats and embellishments to

make each page different.  One of the great things about this

chipboard albums, they are a blank canvas you can make your own!

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 9

The last page before the back cover, love the cute little trains!

Clear_Scraps_Boy Bib Overalls Chip Album_page 10

For the back cover, you very well could just leave it blank, or just

add a sticker or journal card/box, but I wanted to give plenty of

space for those adorable newborn pictures, so I added another

photo mat and a few more embellishments to finish it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Make sure to stop by the Clear Scraps store to check out their

chipboard albums!  They have a lot to choose from and they

make such great gifts, or a wonderful memory book to keep!

Happy Birthday Cupcake Sign

Birthday Cupcake Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Main

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a quick tutorial to make this fun happy birthday cupcake sign using one of the medium pallet shapes from Clear Scraps.

Birthday Cupcake Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Basecoat

I started by painting the entire Cupcake Medium DIY Pallet Shape white with satin finish acrylic paint.  Before I add my first coat of paint to wooden shapes like these, I usually give the whole piece a quick sanding with a fine grit sanding sponge.  I repeat this sanding step after the first coat of paint, and then add a second coat.  This gives it a really nice smooth finish for adding hand-painted touches later.

Birthday Cupcake Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Handpainting

Once dry, I painted a light teal cupcake wrapper and light pink fluffy mounds of frosting on the shape by hand using acrylic paint.  I kept the strokes fast and loose for a whimsical look and blended any harsh edges out with a little white paint.  Pink and blue were used together on this project so that I can pull this sign out for both my son's and my daughter's birthday.

Birthday Cupcake Pallet by Annie Williams for Clear Scraps - Embellish

I finished the sign off by adhering a "happy birthday" sentiment die cut from some silver glitter cardstock and adding a quick white organza bow around the cupcake wrapper.  You can then attach the sign to a dowel or stake to post in the ground outdoors, or add a hanger with twine or ribbon like I've done here.

I hope you've enjoyed this fun birthday décor project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  How would you decorate the new Cupcake Pallet for your next party?

~ Annie
