Texas Wood Card~

Hi, Connie here with a Texas Wood Card and a little cactus thrown in too!!!  This was such a fun project to create.  Clear Scraps has nine different wood cards, even a blank one.  Think what you could create with that~


I used stamps, paint and paper to create this wood card.  I really loved the Texas cut out!


Instructions:
1. Using acrylic paint, paint the front and the back of the wood card.
2. Cover the inside of the card with pattern paper.
3. Use wet glue to adhere the pattern paper. I used Beacon 3-IN-1.
4. Sand the edges, of the card, after the paint is dry.
5. Use a Crop-a-dile to punch the holes in the end of the card.
6. Decorate the front with stickers and a background stamp.


7. Dimensional adhesive was used to pop up the stickers.
8. Splat the front with white acrylic paint (toothbrush works great).
9. Tie loosely with twine, so the card will open.


Love the cactus peeking through the cutout Texas shape!


10. Stamp a fun "Texas" sentiment inside the card!

Color Changing Vacation Tote

Hi there!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a quick tutorial to make this fun color-changing tote bag that's perfect for summer travel using one of the border stencils and a clear word title from Clear Scraps.

Start by securing the Hibiscus Border Stencil to a medium tote bag using tape or stencil spray adhesive.  Insert a piece of cardboard into the bag (to prevent leakage to the other side) and apply different colors of fabric ink through the stencil using a brush or foam applicator.  Here I'm using two colors of UV sensitive fabric ink because I thought it would be a fun touch for beach trips!

While the fabric ink dries, peel the protective plastic off of both sides of the Vacation Small Clear Word Title and lay it down on a protective surface like a craft sheet.  Randomly drip bright colors of alcohol inks over the acrylic word to create a tie-dyed appearance.

Punch a hole through the brightly colored word using a heavy duty hole punch and string the embellishment around the handle of the tote bag with natural twine.  (This picture also shows what the stenciled border looks like just as it starts to darken in the sunlight.)

When the light hits the design on the bag it begins to turn a fun pink and yellow, but I love the mixing of the coral and pink flowers when part of the design is out of direct light too.  I can't wait to take this little tote to the beach with me...it's the perfect size for a small towel, phone, and flipflops!

Clear Scraps Acrylic Pennant -- Make Today Rock

Hi everyone!  Laura here to share a bright, colorful project

to give as a gift as inspiration for a friend, or just keep as

a reminder for yourself to "Make Today Rock"!!

This project started with the Clear Scraps 5 piece banner set.

Yes, you get 5 of these awesome acrylic banners, and I only

used one for this project!  Think of all the possibilities there!

You can use it for one or two banner projects, or make five

individual gifts like this one!

The plaid looking background on the banner piece was created

using the Clear Scraps 4x6 Plaid Stencil and some green paint.

Then to finish of the acrylic piece I added some paper pieces

I traced using the banner to fit, inked the edges, then glued

down.  I also used some bright, colorful chipboard stickers

and enamel dots to add more fun color and interest.

This top piece is one of the Clear Scraps Wood Cards.  They

can come with holes pre-punched, but they also have sets

that are fun to play with too.  You can make greeting cards,

or special thank you gifts.  With this one, I have the cupcake

set, and I decided to use just the blank wooden card in the

set to create this project, because I was going to cover it up 

with pretty paper anyway.  After I glued on the paper, I used

a crop-a-dile, and punched the holes in it so I could add the

acrylic pennant piece to the bottom of the home decor wall

hanging.  More of the striped patterned paper, chipboard

sticker and enamel dots added the finishing touches to this one!

Clear Scraps Blank Wood Album Covers

Hello and happy Friday! Jennifer here to share a mini book I  created using the Blank Wood Album!  These birch covers measure 6x8 and have six pre-drilled holes! You can paint, stain, or stamp the wood; or do as I  did and cover with paper!  One of the nice features about the Wood Albums is that you can create your own pages and insert as many as you like. I   scrapped about my first mission trip to Haiti back in 2013

 

I  used my Beacon 3-in-1 adhesive to adhere my paper and then trimmed any excess with my scissors.  Using a sanding tool works nicely as well!  I  added contrasting prints with a border as well as a heart cut file. Finally, I  used gold glitter Thickers for my title.  

I  cut most of my pages to just under 6x8 inches to fit inside the album covers.  I  usually will add an extra strip of paper to the edge of the page to reinforce the area where my hole punches lie.  This prevents ripping or tearing in the future. 

Utilizing your scorer is a great way to add extra space for photos or journaling.  Here on the right page, I  cut my paper 8 x 10 inches scoring at 5 inches. I  added a sticker tab to the upper flap for easy opening.  

I  cut my 4x6 photo to fit the crease in my page adding a border at the bottom to break up the print. I  intend to go back and do more journaling. 

Using small envelopes or tags is a great way to add extra embellishments, journaling, or photos.  You can see I  added a photo on the back side of the envelope. 

For this page, I  cut a 12x12 Acrylic Sheet down to fit my album.  Before adding my photo, I  colored the acrylic with three coordinating alcohol inks.  On the opposite side that I  applied ink, I  stamped shapes and sentiments with StazOn in black. 

Here, I  added a tag that I  covered with patterned paper. On the back I  adhered a library card to add additional journaling. 

This page is another that I  cut fom the 12x12 Acrylic Sheet. I  again used alcohol ink but this time in red and gold mixative. 

I  created another flap with my Scor-Pal adding photos on the front and inside. I  then scored an accordion style piece to fit three photos!  The possibilities are endless!

Creating colorful cards with Clear Scraps 4x6 Stencils

Today I am sharing two colorful cards I created using Clear Scraps 4 x 6 Butterfly Flock Stencil.   

For the first card I chose to use resist spray over the stencil. After the resist spray dried, I inked my card with distress ink.  I did get a little over zealous with the spray but that was easily remedied with a coordinating sentiment banner. 

For the second card, I simply using my distress inks in a rainbow of colors with the stencil on a white background.

The bright colors were all the card needed. All I did was matte on coordinating card stock and stamp a simple greeting. 

This is Us Wood Frame by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here using the XL Birch Wood Frame - This is Us.

 

At approximately 19" x 12", this  is a fun way to showcase several theme related photos.  I slipped in 2  photos - each 4 1/2" x 6" - and adhered the edges with wood glue.  You can even use glue dots or velcro dots  if you want to be able to swap out the photos at some point.

I began by painting the panel with plum paint.

Once dry, I used the 6" Fern Stencil  to add designs about the panel with modeling paste.

Using the Expressions Small Vacation Word Title, I first removed the protective film and added glue.  Then I poured on Stampendous Glitter and allowed it to dry.

Once dry, I removed the protective film from the other side and glued it between the photo frames.

Using spray inks, I spritzed shades of blue about the panel to coordinate with the Vacation Word Title.

To finish, I added some black and white flowers about the panel.

The simple things chip scallop album

Good morning, friends Leah here with you today to share this awesome little Chip 3x8 Scallop album.

I started by painting the chipboard album white all around the edges. After that dried, I used the 6" Polka Dots stencil with distress oxide ink and stenciled all around the album edges on both sides to create this bright, sunny background on each page.

I then cut all my pattern paper and adhered it to both sides of the pages.

I then started layering ephemera and different embellishments.


I love how this album is ready for photos!

Finished albums make great gifts for friends and family, making it easy for them to just adhere their photos into the album.

Sunflower Boxes

Hey everyone and welcome!!

Today I have created these wonderful Sunflower Boxes using the Sunflower 6x6 Stencil.

Let me show you step by step how I created these!

I started out with some stacking crates that I had in my stash. 

They were unfinished so I painted them with this really pretty gray/brown paint.

Once they were dry, I took my stencil and applied it to the side of each of the crates.

To keep it from moving I just used some scotch tape on the sides and the edge.

I took some really pretty yellow paint and some black and tapped it over the stencil to create my flower.

I just used some makeup sponges that I had in my stash.

 

The overall effect came out great!

Now I have some lovely boxes for my craft space!!

Just make sure there is no paint or ink on the back of your stencil before applying it to the next item.

Lesson learned!!

Bright Side of Life Pallet

Hello and happy Saturday! It's Jennifer to share a home decor project I  created with the Rectangle Medium DIY Pallet Shape. And I'm going to show you the techniques I  used! 

I  began by painting the front of my pallet with chalk paint in grey. I  only applied one coat and allowed portions of the wood to show through the paint.  

I  wanted my embellishments to be the focal point of my pallet. Using the Edison Light Bulbs Chipboard Embellishment Shapes, I  applied black and yellow paint to each. I  tried to color them to be similar to an actual Edison-shaped light.  I  thought about making the "bulb" section white but thought that would be too many colors. Therefore, I  opted for the black and yellow. 

Here is the end result of the painted chipboard! I  adhered them using Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive and love how the lights look against the grey background! 

I  adhered 3 two inch sections of patterned paper for my title, as well as for my photo to fit the slats of the pallet.  Using a favorite cut file and yellow print, I  adhered my title to the navy polka dot background. I  also added stickers and chipboard from the collection I  used. 

I  also added additional embellishments around my photo to accent. I    did not want to add too much as I  did not want to take away from the Edison Lights.

Cattails at Sunset Card

Hi everyone!  It's Annie, and today I'm sharing a tutorial to make this dreamy summertime card using chipboard embellishments and  stencils from Clear Scraps.

I started by inking a 5" x 7" panel of white cardstock with purple, pink, and orange inks using a foam blending tool.

Once dry, I laid the Dragonfly Wallpaper stencil on top of the panel and applied black embossing paste over top using a plastic palette knife.  For a little extra touch, I added black microfine glitter on top of the paste before it dried.

Once completely dry, I trimmed the panel down to 4" x 6" and adhered it to a black matting layer measuring 4.25" x 6.25".

To color the Cattails Chipboard Embellish, I simply added a few coats of ink from a permanent black marker.  For a little added dreaminess, I also lightly brushed gold gilding wax over the edges of the piece with my finger.

After adhering the matted background panel to the center of a 5" x 7" white card base, I added the cattail embellishment to the lower left corner with foam adhesive.  The sentiment was die cut from some gold and black cardstock and adhered to the lower right corner with liquid glue.

Clear Scraps Acrylic Tag Album -- Ahoy There!

Hello everyone!  Laura here today to share a summer mini album!

The Clear Scraps Acrylic Tag Album is a fun way to play with acrylic

and not feel overwhelmed by the large 12x12 surface of the acrylic

sheets.  If you haven't tried it, this is a great way to get started!

On this first page, the rays were stenciled with blue acrylic paint,

and the Clear Scraps 6" Spiral stencil.

So simple, but it gives a great impact and texture!  Next,

I brushed the edges of the next 2 pages with more acrylic paint.

It's  nice way to frame each page instead of just leaving it clear,

tho you can do that too.....nice to mix it up!

Love how the back of the stenciled cover shows through to

the second page of the mini album.

The best part of using acrylic.....it's a two for one impact!

You can see how the brushed on red paint frames this page:

And it shows through to frame the next one too.  It's also

fun to add some cute little tags in between the pages, they

can be used as a title, or you could use it to mark the year

or use it as a journal box too.

Some people are afraid to work with a acrylic because of the

fact it shows through, but it's actually a fun element to use

to embrace your creativity!  And you can keep it simple.

This is just the mat from the other page becoming the mat for the

next page.  Just keep your adhesive where it won't be seen.

The border strip was used as a mat for a thinner border on the

other page.  Just take a look as you are putting the album together.

It's so fun to get creative with the different acrylic pieces, and once

you've tried it, you'll be hooked!

Mixed Media Floral Canvas

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today with a mixed media floral canvas.

I used the Mini Jar Pallet, thinking it would make an amazing jar to hold an assortment of  flowers.

I painted the jar with gold metallic paint..

Placomg the 6" Shattered Glass Stencil on the jar, I painted with silver metallic paint.

Using both the 6" Wood Grain Stencil and the 6" Shiplap Stencil, I created texture on a canvas board with modeling paste.

Because I wanted to add color to the board, I painted the entire panel with white gesso.

Once the panel was dry, I spritzed assorted colors of ink on the panel, drying the inks before adding additional colors.  Then I wrapped the panel with twine for more dimension. 
Placing the jar off-center, I placed flowers and leaves, moving them until the result was pleasing.

I tied some babies breathe to the twine and inserted some amongst the flowers for more depth and dimension.

A sentiment was stamped on a tag which was inserted under the twine.  Butterflies were punched from Rinea Foiled Papers and placed on the tag.

Additional butterflies were added amongst the flowers.

Now this fun mixed media floral canvas adorns my craft room.

You & Me ~ Wood Quote!!

Hi, Connie here with a special project using many Clear Scraps products!!  The Clear Scraps products go together so well and make super cute home decor pieces.  My project and inspiration is a photo board, that photos can be changed out and displayed in my home (or yours)!


Instructions:
1. Cover the pallet board with pattern paper.  I used Beacon's 527 to adhere the paper to the board. The paper strips are 2" and then the ends are sanded off.
2. The mini acrylic clipboard is covered with pattern paper and then decorated with coordinating stickers from the paper set.
3. To achieve the film strip look I used a stamp to create the border on each side of the black and white photo.  I will list all products at the end of the post.

4. The wood quote (You & Me) is painted with acrylic paint and then the edges are sanded, for a distressed look.
5. Pattern paper was added to the back of the heart in the quotes piece. 
6. Adhere the quotes piece to the pallet board.  I used Beacon's 527 glue.
7. Add stickers and decorations to complete the look.


8. The clipboard is attached to the pallet board with a push pin.  Makes it easy to change out the photos.
9. Add stickers and decorations to complete the project.

Christmas in July - Fence Ornaments

Hi everyone, and welcome to Christmas in July!!

Today I have created these super cute and very easy Christmas ornaments.

I have used the Fence Chipboard Embellishments to create the ornaments.  They turned out amazing.

I wanted to show that these can be used in another way, not just as an embellishment for a layout or card.

So lets get started!!

First I painted each of the pieces with a brown acrylic paint.

I then painted it with some crackle medium.  Letting each layer dry before adding the next layer. 

I wanted a really nice crack so I made sure to apply the crackle medium really thick.

Once those two layers were dry, I then painted them with ivory acrylic paint.  I brushed it on very evenly in one coat. 

Don't go back over to add more or it won't crack.

Once each of the pieces were dry, I distressed them with walnut stain distress ink. 

Highlighting all those nice cracks.  I wanted them to almost look like weathered wood.

I punched holes and added some twine as a hanger.

I added flowers from my stash and then used some nice glitter to give it a sparkle.

I hope you give these a try.

They will look amazing on the Christmas tree this year!!

Creating your own Vintage Garden Sign

Greetings!  Chris here and today I am excited to share this sign I created for my garden! I love that it is Super fun and cheery and brightens my garden. 

Start by adding a color wash to Clear Scraps Medium DIY Pallet.

I love how the grain of the wood shows through. 

Once dry, secure the Vintage Garden Farmhouse Stencil over your pallet. 

 

Using white acrylic paint, paint stencil.  

Carefully, remove stencil and let dry.  Seal with acrylic sealer to allow you to use your sign outside!  I hope you are inspired to create your own DIY Pallet!
