This Is Us Scrapbook Layout with Christine

Sometimes the way you can use our products is totally obvious, but sometimes us designers use them in less noticeable ways.  Today's layout is one of those creations!  It would've been impossible to complete without Clear Scraps products - but that is probably not obvious to everyone looking at it!  Christine joining you today with a traditional scrapbook layout with amazing details made possible thanks to Clear Scraps!

ChristineMeyer.ThisIsUs1W

What do you think, have you figured out where Clear Scraps came in?

ChristineMeyer.ThisIsUs2

First up, I used it for my title! I used the new "This is Us" Farmhouse Stencil to trace and then handstitch my title.  There were multiple steps that I took in creating this background, if you're intrigued you definitely want to catch the video!  I'll be sharing that shortly!

ChristineMeyer.ThisisUS3

The second area I used Clear Scraps for was my floral frame.  Notice the acrylic flowers that are tucked in with the cardstock flowers. I love the subtle texture that these added.  They come in a package of four and for my design they were a little too big.  So to make them stretch and make them smaller, I cut them in half.  It was super easy to do with just regular scissors and at that size they were the perfect touch!

As promised I do have a video for you!  Here it is!

Thanks so much for joining me today - I hope you've been inspired to think outside of the box with the new Farmhouse Stencils!

Acrylic Clipboard and script word by Clear Scraps!

Hi, Connie here with a fun project using the large regular Landscape Clipboard and the "Family" wood script word by Clear Scraps.  Pairing these two products makes for a cute way to showcase a vintage family photo.  I started like I would create a scrapbook page and then added the word to the page, then clipped it to the clipboard.

Clipboard1_acrylic_wood word_clear scraps_c.mercer (2)

Any pattern paper, that you love, is great place to start building the base of the clipboard.  This is not glued or attached to the acrylic clipboard.  I wanted the option of changing out the page and creating a new page for a new event or season.  Totally your call if you want to make it permanent or not.

Clipboard2_acrylic_wood word_clear scraps_c.mercer

The wood script word "Family" is painted with acrylic paint and then the edges were sanded down for that distressed look.  Adhere the word to project base with strong wet adhesive.  I used Beacon 527.   Last thing I did was speckle the project with watered down white acrylic paint.

Clipboard3_acrylic_wood word_clear scraps_c.mercer

My focal photo was a vintage photo from 1954.  Very special to me.  Tie seam binding on the clip for an added vintage look.

Vintage Garden Sign

Hello, everyone!

It's Nancy Nickel back with another new product project.

Today I'm featuring the Plaque Medium DIY Pallet Shape.

I'm also using the Vintage Garden Stencil.

Here's what I created:

Vintage Garden Sign

This wood plaque measures 6.5" x 16.5",

and has three pieces along the front.

This time I opted to decorate the wood piece with paper.

I began by inking all the wood edges.

IMG_0294

I then cut paper to fit the first end piece,

positioning the flowers on the bottom left corner.

I cut the paper slightly smaller than the wood,

leaving a nice border.

I inked the paper and adhered it in place.

IMG_0295

I repeated the process for the small piece on the other end,

positioning the flowers on the top right corner.

I cut the paper for the center piece from a second piece of paper,

leaving out the flowers.

IMG_0296

I then positioned the stencil over the papered piece,

and stenciled the design using the same ink.

Papers: GCD Studios - Donna Salazar Family Jeans Collection;

Family Rectangle Medium DIY Pallet Shape

Hello! It's Jennifer and I'm back to share another awesome new release!  The Medium DIY Wood Pallet Shapes are so fun to work with and I  was so excited to see new home decor pieces!  For my project, I  used the Rectangle Medium DIY Pallet Shape. I  wanted to give it a stained look so I  took brown acrylic paint and added a bit of water to it. All I  needed was one coat as the birch wood accepts the paint very nicely.

Clear_Scraps_Family_Stencil_Wood_Pallet

After allowing my paint to dry, I   secured the new Family Farmhouse 6x16 Stencil to my pallet with painters tape.  Washi tape works well, too! There are 20 new designs including this one!  And the possibilities are endless when it comes to DIY home decor projects!

IMG_6991

I  then slowly applied modeling paste with a spatula. I  found it was best to take my time to prevent any bleeding underneath my stencil. And I  am not the mixed media maven I  strive to be LOL

IMG_7004

Here, you can see a close up of some of the stenciling. Again, not perfect but its a process of learning.

Clear_Scraps_Family_Stencil_Wood_Pallet2

I  had some metal clips in my stash that I attached at the bottom of the pallet with my hot glue gun

Clear_Scraps_Family_Stencil_Wood_Pallet3

While my hot glue gun was plugged in, I  added flowers to the corners of my pallet to accent. Its a great way to use up some of your stash (I  know for myself I  hoard things LOL)

Clear_Scraps_Family_Stencil_Wood_Pallet5

I  then added some fun family photos from the past Mother's Day! My kids are at that age where they never want to take a serious photo!  I    always tell them no matter what they will still be scrapbooked!  Lastly, I  used my Big Bite to punch holes in the top of the pallet so I  could hang my creation!

Clear_Scraps_Family_Stencil_Wood_Pallet6

Thank you for reading today! Be sure to check out all of the new release by visiting the Clear Scraps shop! Have a great day!

Additional products used:  paint: CraftSmart; modeling paste, bling: Teresa Collins Designs; metal clips: Ranger; flowers: Pink Paislee, Maya Road; misc: ribbon, hot glue gun.

Medium DIY Rectangle Pallet -- Farmhouse Style

Hi everyone!  Laura here with you today!

Are you a fan of the farmhouse style of decor?

Gotta say, my house has a lot of this type of

decor, it's clean, simple, and somehow

makes home cozy to me.

It's always fun to create your own home decor,

and it's easy and fun with some help from

Clear Scraps!  I'm sharing a sign I created with you today

using some of the great Clear Scraps stencils and pallets!

Clear_Scraps_Farmhouse_Pallet_Sign

This Farmhouse sign starts with the Medium DIY Pallet in the

rectangle shape.  It's the PERFECT size for the Clear Scraps

6x16 Farmhouse Stencils!  Just as all the Clear Scraps

products, there are so many choices available,

and they all work together so well!

You can choose your pallet shape and choose your

stencil, and you can create home decor for

just about any room in your house, or to

give as a special gift.  You can find

all of the different types of stencils Clear

Scraps has to offer HERE.

This  is the actual "Farmhouse" stencil, of course.

The rectangle pallet was painted white, and then

the word farmhouse was stenciled

with black acrylic paint.

After that was all dry,  I took a little gray paint,

and brushed along the edges of the pallet and

here and there on the face of the pallet.

Clear_Scraps_Farmhouse_Pallet_Sign close up 2

Love the texture and rustic look this little touch of

gray paint gives to the pallet sign, like weathered wood.

To finish it off, what could be better than a

gingham pattern ribbon and a bit of twine.

Farmhouse_Pallet_Home_Decor close up 1(1)

The perfect addition to the finished project,

that gives it a great farmhouse vibe!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Make sure to check out the Clear Scraps store

to get a start on your next home decor project!

Gather double sided circle pallet

Hi friends!! Haven't you just loved all the new releases from Clear Scraps being shown this month? I turned the new 8" medium circle pallet into a double-sided sign that I can decorate with around Thanksgiving, and keep up through Christmas.

Here's the front

Gather_CirclePallet

and flip

MerryChristmas_CirclePallet

To start, I adhered pattern paper to the wood word, gather.

Gatherhowto1_LeahCrowe

Set it aside to dry.

Grab your Merry & Christmas chipboard word titles and paint in red using acrylic or chalkboard paint. Set aside to dry.

Gatherhowto2_LeahCrowe

Paint or stain the front of your circle. I stained mine because I love seeing the wood grain. Once dry, I used distress oxide ink around the edges to make it pop.

Grab a piece of pattern paper you want for the backside, turn it over, and trace the medium circle pallet with a pencil. Cut around the traced circle and set aside.

Gatherhowto3_LeahCrowe

Flip over to the backside of the pallet, and staple some twine to the spine.

Gatherhowto4_LeahCrowe

Next, I placed foam tape on the back of the circle. I had to make sure the pattern paper had something to adhere to, so I ended up doubling up the foam tape.

Gatherhowto5_LeahCrowe

Do this all over the backside of the circle. Peel away the foam tape backing, and apply a strong liquid adhesive.

Gatherhowto6_LeahCrowe

Adhere to your pattern paper. Then, adhere your snowflakes. I found mine in the dollar section at Michaels.

Gatherhowto7_LeahCrowe

Adhere your painted Merry Christmas chipboard word title

MerryChristmas_CirclePallet

Time to finish up the front. I knew cutting out the pattern paper from the wood title, gather, would be a little tricky. I found this next tip essential in not tearing the pattern paper while removing the paper from the inside of the letters.

On the backside of the paper, use your craft knife to cut along the edge of the wood. In most cases, this only scored the paper, and would not successfully cut the curves and corners of the letters. I then flipped it over

and could see where I needed to finish the cut without tearing the paper. Just use your knife to trace the line as you see below.

Gatherhowto8_LeahCrowe

Gatherhowto9_LeahCrowe

Repeat this process, removing all the inside letter pieces before moving onto the outside edge.

Gatherhowto10_LeahCrowe

Once done, center the word and adhere to the front of the pallet. Then, decorate!

Basketball Wood Pallet Shape

The new Circle Medium Wood Pallet Shape is a totally versatile product.  It's a blank canvas waiting to be decorated to your taste!  Christine joining you today with a sports themed idea for using this Pallet Shape - turning it into a basketball!

ChristineMeyer-Basketball1

We're knee deep in basketball season at my house, so that's probably part of why I ended up going down that route.  That said, this could work for any circular shaped sports ball - think soccer, tennis, baseball, etc!  Let's take a look at how I created it!

ChristineMeyer-Basketball5

After lightly sanding the shape, I painted it with some orange acrylic paint.

ChristineMeyer-Basketball4

I then traced the shape completely, including the pallets.  I cut off the two end pallets to make the arch shape on my basketball.  I laid them out so they would be even.  I also went with keeping my pallets horizontal instead of vertical, so as not to interfere with the lines I was adding to the basketball.

ChristineMeyer-Basketball3

I traced the arcs with a permanent black marker just making an initial thin line.

ChristineMeyer-Basketball2

Then I took some strong adhesive and went all over the basketball applying it and pulling it up.  My goal here was to distress the ball and give it a less clean feel!

ChristineMeyer-Basketball1

Finally I thickened the lines up with my marker and then added letters.  Fairly simple and quick to put together and a nice decoration for my daughter!  I think for each year that she plays, I will add on the year and her number, so she can have it as a memento of her seasons!

Thanks for joining me today!

Medium DIY Heart Pallet -- I Love Us

Hi there!  Laura here sharing a post with you today!

I've got a project using one something that is one of my

favorite items from Clear Scraps, the

Medium DIY Pallet Shapes.

Clear_Scraps_I_Love_Us(1)

LOVE these things!  You can ink them, paint, stain,

stamp, whatever your "heart" desires!  And with all

the shapes to choose from, you can easily find one

to fit any project you'd like to make.  You can find them

all in the store right HERE.

For this project, I chose the Heart Medium DIY Pallet shape.

I decided to use paper to cover it, so I traced it

onto the paper,  and added little marks where the slats are,

2018-12-07 15.49.39

then cut out around the heart, and used a trimmer

to cut the pieces to fit the slats.

I inked all the edges, and then glued them onto

the pallet using Beacon Adhesive.

Next up, I added one of the XL Script Wood Quotes.

The "I Love Us" quote was perfect for my project

since it's all about family!

Clear_Scraps_I_Love_Us close up 1

It's painted with gray acrylic paint, and then I went

over the gray with white acrylic paint in a dauber

bottle to give it a little more texture.

To finish it off I added some pearls.

Before I glued the Script Word down,

I decorated the upper right corner of the heart,

using a 3x4" journal card and a few stickers.

Clear_Scraps_I_Love_Us(1) close up 2

I thought the saying was a great reminder for the new

year, that not everything is perfect all the time,

but the joy is in the journey your family is on

together, building their very own story.

These moments and memories are why "I LOVE Us"!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hope you are inspired to try creating

one of these pallets.  They make great inspiration

to keep on your desk, or hang on a wall, or they

make great gifts for family and friends.

Scallop Wood Phone Stand

Hello, everyone!

It's Nancy Nickel back with another fun project!

This time I am featuring the Scallop Wood Phone Stand.

This is such a handy little stand, with endless creative possibilities!

It can easily be decorated to match the decor of any room.

It's a great place to put your phone,

with a handy little notch for the cord when re-charging.

Scallop Wood Phone Stand

This phone stand comes in two pieces of wood that simply slide together.

I did all the decorating before putting it together.

IMG_0016

I began by painting both wood pieces,

using the Creative Expressions Gilding Polish.

This was part of the October Q Kit at Clear Scraps.

IMG_0018 (1)

Then I measured all the sides, and cut the paper to fit,

leaving a gold border showing all around. I rounded some of the corners.

IMG_0019

I adhered all the papers in place...front and back.

Finally, I added a gold trim double bow to the top center.

Laundry Sign

If you are a DIY type of person then the newest products here at Clear Scraps are going to become a staple in your crafting!  Between BIG Mascils and all kinds of wood pallets, we've got you covered for creating a variety of pieces.  Today I have a new Laundry Sign to share with you!

ChristineMeyer.LaundrySign1

This looks like I spent hours on it, but guess what??? I didn't!  This whole thing came together in under an hour (not counting dry time)

ChristineMeyer.LaundrySign2

First up I spray painted the Rectangle Medium DIY pallet shape.
Then I used the Laundry Mascil with Distress Oxide inks to add the word Laundry.  This comes from the new Farmhouse 6 X 16 line!

ChristineMeyer.LaundrySign3

Finally I added some wood clothespins.  I though I could either use these for socks...or maybe inspirational quotes.  One way or the other, I've got an adorable new farmhouse style addition for my otherwise boring laundry room.  Almost makes me want to go do laundry, almost ;)

Sand edges with sand paper to give the sign a distressed look.
Tape the word stencil to the rectangle pallet board with painter's tape.
Use a small round stencil brush and apply paint to the brush, before stenciling on the project, brush off some of the paint.  For stenciling less paint is better.

Bloom & grow coaster set

Hey, friends! Leah here today sharing this cute coaster set using the Creating Made Easy January Q 2019 kit.

Coasters_2019Jan_LeahCrowe

I absolutely LOVE the Graphic 45 paper pad in this kit, especially since I'm dreaming of Spring already. :)

The longest part of this project is waiting on the glue to dry.

To start, peel the protective layer off the backside of your album pages. Apply your favorite strong adhesive, my go-to is Beacons 3-in-1.

Coasterhowto_LeahCrowe

Next, choose 4 papers you absolutely love. Then, position your acrylic album page on the part of the paper you wish to show through to the front and apply pressure, burnishing it firmly to the pattern paper.

Coasterhowto2_LeahCrowe

Trim the excess paper from the albums. Remove the protective film from the top.

Coasterhowto3_LeahCrowe

If you wish, you could use Stazon and distress around the edges of the coaster.

Coasterhowto4_LeahCrowe

Using mod podge from my stash, I applied thin even layers to the backside of the coasters.

Coasterhowto5_LeahCrowe

Coasterhowto6_LeahCrowe

You can see where the paper is warping a bit, you can smooth these out with your fingers, pushing the air out to the edges.

Coasterhowto7_LeahCrowe

If you notice the same thing along the edges, apply a small amount of mod podge, push down to adhere it.

I applied three layers of mod podge to help create a waterproof barrier to protect the paper. Now, time to decorate.

You'll notice on the top side of the coasters there are holes pre-drilled to bind for an album.

Coasterhowto8_LeahCrowe

I just used the 12" bling from the January kit and ran them in a straight line, filling in the holes. It's a perfect fit.

This Is Us Wood Pallet

Hello friends! Jennifer on the blog today to share my first new release project!  It has been so hard to keep all of the fun, new goodies under wraps these past few months! I  know our design team has had a great time creating with the new designs and can't wait to show you!

Clear_Scraps_This_Is_Us_Wood_Pallet

I  started with the Deco Medium Pallet Shape as my base and gave it a few coats of chalk paint in grey. This is probably my go to color right now but it looks so classy with the birch wood!

IMG_6987

Next, I  cut a 6.5x 6.5 piece of background paper into sections to adhere to each slat. Using a liquid adhesive works best when working with the birch wood.

IMG_6990

I  laid that aside to paint my This Is Us XL Script Wood Quote. And wouldn't you know that it fits perfectly on the Medium Pallet! :)  In fact, many of the new releases can "go together"!   For this piece, I  used black acrylic paint because I  wanted a nice contrast!

IMG_6988

Before adhering my Wood Quote to the Medium Pallet, I  used my sanding tool to distress the edges to give it a worn look.  I  did this also to the edges of the Deco Pallet but its not as evident on my photo.

 IMG_6989

Next, I  was ready to adhere my Wood Quote to the Pallet.  You can use liquid adhesive but for extra hold, I  chose to use my hot glue gun.

Clear_Scraps_This_Is_Us_Wood_Pallet2

I  tucked some of the floral die cuts under and around my Wood Quote to accent.  I  even allowed a few to hang over the edges of my pallet.

Clear_Scraps_This_Is_Us_Wood_Pallet6

Here, I    added additional floral die cuts as well as flair and a sentiment sticker.

Clear_Scraps_This_Is_Us_Wood_Pallet4

Since I'm a scrapbooker at heart, I   wanted to include a photo. The collection I  used conveniently had a frame die cut that I  popped up with foam tape. I  added a fun gold glitter clothes pin at the top as well as some pennants and die cut butterfly at the bottom.  The wood is sturdy enough to use a Cropodile or Big Bite to punch holes at the top to add ribbon if you want to hang your creation.

Clear_Scraps_This_Is_Us_Wood_Pallet7

Thank you for stopping by the blog today! Our design team will be showcasing the new products the next coming months! And don't forget to follow Clear Scraps on Facebook for updates from Creativation 2019!  Have a great day!

Additional products used:  paper, die cuts, stickers, flair:  Cocoa Vanilla Studios; gold glitter clothespin: Crate Paper; paint: Plaid, DecoArt; adhesive: Beacon, 3M; sewing machine: Janome; misc: thread.

Acrylic Double Sided Sign by Steph

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here sharing another project created with the January kit.  I'm using the 4" acrylic mini album and both the Graphic 45 Flutter paper pad and the Studio Light Winter paper pad.

Wanting to do something different, I turned the mini album into a double sided sign.

Sign-clearscraps-6-steph-ackerman

One side of the sign uses Graphic 45 Flutter papers - a bright and cheerful sign.

Sign-clearscraps-6-steph-ackerman

One side uses the Studio Light Winter paper creating a soft Christmas/Winter themed sign.

Sign-clearscraps-2-steph-ackerman

I cut pattern papers slightly smaller than the acrylic panels and inked the edges before adhering.  Additional papers were torn, inked and added to the panels creating 8 different panels.

Sign-clearscraps-2-steph-ackerman

I punched additional holes in the panels then tied them together with twine.

Now once winter has passed, I can turn the sign over and dream of spring.

Thanks for stopping by.

Other Supplies used:  Unity Stamps, ImagineCrafts Ink, Spellbinders dies, Whisker Graphics twine
