Heart DIY Pallet Shape

Hello! It's Jennifer on the blog today to share one of the fun Wood Pallet Shapes!  There are eight shapes to choose from including the Heart DIY Pallet Shape I used for my project!  Usually I  prefer to use chalk paint on the birch wood but the blue I    had originally used wasn't the right shade.  So, my second choice is using spray paint!  It's easy to do as well as covers a lot of surface in a small amount of time.

I  also wanted to add some contrast to my background by using white chalk paint and the 6 Inch Shiplap Mascil. Using a foam applicator, I  lightly dabbed my paint onto the pallet not worrying about clean lines.  My goal was to have some areas appear lighter vs. the rest.

You can secure your Mascil with washi or painters tape; if I'm going to move my Mascil around I  will just apply firm pressure with my fingers.  Here is a close up of the end result!

For my title, I  used the Cherish Chipboard Word Title which I  painted with white chalk paint. To add a little distress, I  applied Crackle Paint in Rock Candy Crystal once my paint was dry.

I  layered chipboard frames from the collection I  used and embellished with smaller pieces of die cuts or chipboard.  Here, you can see one of the chipboard hearts from the Hearts Chipboard Embellishment set. I  used the same technique on the heart as the Cherish Chipboard Word Title.

The next two photos show close ups of some of the frames and additional embellishments I  layered around my picture.  You can also see that I  used the Shiplap Mascil in the bottom left corner of my Heart.  This one did not turn out as well as the first ...the nice thing is that mistakes can usually be covered up by embellishments or paper! LOL
