Whiskey Barrel Man cave sign
February 01, 2018
Hello, my crafting friends, Leah here with you today to share the brand new DIY Whiskey Barrel pallet shape!
The pallets go together very easily, just adhere with wood glue, mounting wood shape to the mounting sticks. Adhere top and bottom pieces first flush and then middle pieces. Give the equal amount of space in between each to give it that pallet look.
Before I stained I sanded lightly using 220 grit sandpaper then wiped with a cloth to remove dust particles. I then painted on the Minwax stain, let it sit a few minutes, and wiped off with another cloth. I let it dry for about 3 hours then applied lacquer to seal stain. The wood grain of this wood is amazing!
I knew my husband would love an entrance to his new man cave in the garage, he's currently in the process of setting it up now. So I used a my cameo silhouette to cut out this stencil, which I applied to the whiskey palette. I painted on the stencil very lightly. I should have painted twice because of the purple (hubs favorite color) and because of the stain color is so dark.
I showed hubs, and well, he liked it.. so I was good. :) Be careful removing your vinyl stencils if you use one, and pull it off away from the grain of the wood to prevent splintering.
Once its hung on his door, its going to look great! I painted the brand new chipboard hammer & screwdriver tools set and adhered them to the sign as well. Here's a close up of the tools that I painted with Chalk Paint.
There you have it. Which of the new wood palette shapes is your favorite?
