You and Me and a Mini

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a mini mini album I made featuring a few photos I took just last week on Thanksgiving.  I love this teeny tiny mini album, Tiny Mixable,  as it makes creating so quick and easy.

Tiny_mini album_clear scraps_nancy keslin_1

With these tiny little mini albums it doesn't take  much to make a big impact.

Tiny_mini album_clear scraps_nancy keslin_1

I used scraps of paper, a few small stickers, flowers and some candy dots to embellish each of the two inch photos.  I told you, this is a tiny mini mixable.

And you know how much I love the mixable albums.  A super cute blend of acrylic and chipboard pages makes keeping things coordinated easy.

Together Dainty Mini Mixable Album

Hello! It's Jennifer back on the blog to share another project this month!  I have always been a big fan of Clear Scraps albums and was excited to see the release of the mini version of the Mixables!  Using the Dainty Mini Mixable and wallet sized photos, I  created this fun little mini to document my favorite fall photos!

Clear_Scraps_Together_Mini_Mixable_Dainty_Album

The album measures only 3.5 x 5 inches which is perfect for your smaller embellishments!  Also, each page alternates between acrylic and chipboard so you get the best of both worlds! I  used Distress Paint in Mustard Seed to color my chipboard but opted to leave my acrylic "bare".

Clear_Scraps_Together_Mini_Mixable_Dainty_Album2

The album has "cascading" pages meaning they increase in size as you go.  This creates a neat effect and allows your pages to "show through".

Clear_Scraps_Together_Mini_Mixables_Dainty_Album3

I love adding additional pages to my mini albums.....even the smaller ones!  Here, I  cut a 3x4 journal card to include additional journaling and a photo.

Holiday Ornament Tutorial by Pinky

Welcome to the holiday craft season everyone, hello Clear Scraps friends, it is Pinky today with another fun Clear Scraps project, actually it is 2 projects that I have a step by step tutorial for!

Let me share how I created these 3 ornaments today, including a Shaker Ornament!

Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 1

For the Shaker Ornament I used the Clear Scraps Mini Shaker X-MAS TREE.

I began with the acrylic window, so it had ample time to dry, I used the 6" Nordic Snowflake Mascil/Stencil and Art Gloss Gel to create the snowflakes on the cover, after removing the protective film.

Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 7

I used a little bit of glitter sprinkled on and set aside to dry.

Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 4

After that I took some patterned paper and covered the chipboard base using Beacon adhesive. Trimmed off the excess paper.
Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 7

I coated the front chipboard with red glitter and sealed it using a spray sealant.

Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 6

I layered the chipboard onto the base, then put a tsp of sequins in.

Then after the acrylic cover dried, I assembled the entire shaker!

Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 7

Now here is my "OOPS" moment, I should've inserted ribbon to hang it. I forgot. YES I forgot! haha

So don't forget that or you will be gluing ribbon onto the back.

Now for the other two ornaments, these were so fun to make.

I used the X-masSwirl Bulbs Chipboard Embellishments. Since they are two sided, I spray painted both side in a silver spray paint (Krylon).

Clear Scraps Holiday Glitter Ornament and Shaker by Pinky - 7

After that I handprinted each side with a blue and create color and dusted with glitter. I set it aside to dry, then repeated on the other side.

You can see I left the silver top. When all was dried I punched a hole into the top and used a pretty ribbon for the "hanger".

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today,  I really enjoyed making them.

Happy Holidays friends,

Air Balloon 12x12 Layout

Hey, Clear Scraps family!
I hope your Thanksgiving celebrations were filled with love and lots of good food.

AirBalloon5_LeahCrowe

Today I'm sharing my Air Balloon 12x12 Acrylic Layout.

On this layout are also chipboard embellishments that add so much beauty to a layout. The kites and princess title are ones I chose to use today.

AirBalloon2_LeahCrowe

I colored the chipboard embellishments using distress inks, then stamped on the kites for more interest.

AirBalloon2_LeahCrowe

You can also utilize the frame the embellishments come attached to as I did above.

AirBalloonb_LeahCrowe

I then took a pen and outlined the balloon to make it pop off the background.

Have you tried these amazing 12x12 acrylic layouts yet? Let's see them on our facebook page!

Texas Printer Tray Frame~

Hi, Connie here with a Texas Printer Tray Frame by Clear Scraps.  I was so excited about this product release. Clear Scraps also released a smaller version of the Texas image in a shaker. How cool is that all my Texas friends!!!

Clear scraps_texas printer tray_c. mercer

I used pattern paper, along with my photos, to create the inside back of the Printer Tray.  The photos were cut to fit, in the space, by tracing the shape on the back of the photo.

Clear scraps_texas printer tray2_c.mercer

I used buttons and labels, taken off old work shirts, that belonged to my husband, to fill two of the divided areas of the Texas Printer Tray.  I thought the shirt labels and buttons were such a neat thing to add to the tray, since the tray is about him "working".  Hoping the family will think that is neat too!

Clear scraps_texas printer tray3_c.mercer

After the Texas Printer Tray is completed on the inside, it is ready to glue the pieces together. Remember to remove the plastic film from the acrylic before using glue.  I painted the top frame with brown acrylic paint and then glued the sections together.  A tip when it is glued together, I turn it over and put a heavy book on it so it is drying flat.  The front is decorated with stickers, buttons (from husband's work shirts) and twine.  Another thing I like about these Printer Tray Frames, is you can fit then into a scrapbook page protector and add them your album.

Clear scraps_texas priner tray4_c. mercer

I added a pocket to the back for my journal spot.

Happy Thanksgiving Stenciled Card by Pinky

Well hello there again Clear Scraps friends, it's Pinky here again today with a fun Thanksgiving Card that  created using the Clear Scraps Half Scallop Send It Clear Card that I opened and thought "Wow let's have some mixed media fun!"

Clear Scraps Thanksgiving Send It Clear Card Pinky - 3

First I took my 6" Swirl Flourish mascil/stencil and some Gesso Gel, I mixed the Gel with some paint that coordinated with the fall colors I was using. Actually the patterned papers were from the November Main Kit 2017 from Creating Made Easy.
Clear Scraps Thanksgiving Send It Clear Card Pinky - 3

I used the 6" Swirl Flourish mascil/stencil on each flap (after I added the Happy Thanksgiving quote) , and gave it ample time to dry, then placed the base paper on the card with the HELLO sticker.
Clear Scraps Thanksgiving Send It Clear Card Pinky - 3

Now while assembling the card I used the clear stickers included, and was careful to peel them back but not touch them, my finger oil leaves a mark and ruins the adhesive, so I was very careful. I assembled the card and BOOM, a beautiful clear card with special touches.

Happy Thanksgiving week friends.

Love to all, Pinky Hobbs: Clear Scraps Designer

XOXO Holiday Christmas Card Layout by Pinky

I know we haven't passed Thanksgiving just yet, but I was inspired this week to scrapbook my photos from last Christmas, so I dove in! Hey everyone, it's Pinky today and I decided to go crazy and make an XOXO Acrylic Layout into a holiday layout because everyone loves Christmas!

Clear Scraps XOXO Acrylic Holiday Card Layout by Pinky Hobbs - 2

For this XOXO Acrylic Layout, I removed the protective film from the back, then I painted it with a creamy antique white acrylic paint.

I used two different patterned papers to adhere to the back, and used photos and an old Christmas Card! What a great way to preserve cards!

I used X-Mas Bulbs Chipboard Embellishments and painted them the same color, to add some layering to the front.  Then added the Holiday LOVE with my alphabet stickers.

It was a fun layout to create and the Acrylic Layouts are amazing!

Mixable Woof! Album

Hey Clear Scraps family! Leah here today with another mini album. Not sure what jumped into my creative spirit this month, but this is the second album I've created. I love making albums when I have lots of photos from an event or over a period of time on the same subject where they will not all fit on a layout.

WoofMixable_LeahCrowe

This Mixable Woof! mini-album is mixable with 3 acrylic pages and 2 chipboard ones sized around 5 x 9". For the Woof acrylic piece, I edged the title (and all acrylic pages) with Piccolo enamel gel, this stuff is perfect for painting on acrylic items. This adorable album is perfect for showing off our sweet four-legged babies.

  WoofMixable2_LeahCrowe

I love how the paint makes the title pop while allowing you to peek through to the next album page.

WoofMixable2_LeahCrowe

Here's the backside.

WoofMixable2_LeahCrowe

Next is the bone page, which is chipboard. I covered both sides of my chipboard pages with pattern paper and distressed the edges with distress ink.

WoofMixable2_LeahCrowe

The fire hydrant is acrylic. I lightly stenciled the shattered glass mascil on the backside of the hydrant.

WoofMixable5_LeahCrowe

The back of hydrant. I take way too many selfies with these pugs sleeping on my chest. lol

WoofMixable5_LeahCrowe

The heart page is chipboard. So cute.

WoofMixable5_LeahCrowe
WoofMixable5_LeahCrowe

The dog house is acrylic, but I wanted to use this cute paper on the backside of the acrylic.
WoofMixable5_LeahCrowe

Once all the pages were complete, I took book rings and secured the pages together. Add a bunch of ribbons tied onto the book rings and this album is complete.

Have a beautiful weekend, friends!

Twig Leaves Mascil Layout

Hello! It's Jennifer back today to share a fun fall layout I  created using the 12 Inch Twig Leaves Mascil!  If you haven't had a chance to create with the Mascils, you must try them!  I'm going to show you my easy technique on creating this fall themed background!

Clear_Scraps_12_Inch_Twig_Leaves_Mascil_layout

I  secured my Mascil to a white piece of cardstock using washi tape (painters tape will work as well!).  Using three complimenting colors of Distress Oxide Ink, I  blended my colors across the cardstock.

IMG_5927

Once I  was happy with my result, I  used my mini mister to spray a small amount of water onto my background to mute the colors.  I  really love how it turned out!

Clear_Scraps_12_Inch_Twig_Leaves_Mascil_layout2

I  used the Laugh Chipboard Script Word Title as the title to my page....I thought it was perfect for my photo!  I  painted my chipboard with off white acrylic paint then lightly sprayed with Distress Ink in orange.

Hello Fall!

I just love these printer tray frames! angel here today to bring you my take using the Scallop Circle Printer Tray Frame .

You can purchase yours here at Clear Scraps!

Hello Fall Frame

I have used a Collection from Carta Bella to decorate the frame. All you have to do is trace the frame onto your pattern paper and glue it to the base. then you line the inter pieces and glue that as well. I then add sequins to each corner as shown below.

Hello Fall Frame2

I also added some of the stickers and chipboard pieces to complete the look.

IMG_6080

I then glued down the acrylic piece the the top frame to complete the frame. You can paint or ink the trim piece but I liked the natural look of the chipboard. It went so well with the paper line.

I also added some foliage leaves to the top of the left hand corner to finish this piece up. then a bow to top it off.

These make great home decor pieces.

More Shakers~

Hi, Connie here with a twist on the popular Shakers by Clear Scraps!!!  When I'm creating I try to use items in different ways.  With that being said these are a couple of diffrent ways to use the Shakers.  I think these would be super cute gifts for teachers.  So easy the children can create too!

Shakers1_clear scraps_c. mercer

The Texas Shaker is created using pattern paper and acylic paint.  After the back piece is covered with paper, the top frame is painted, the palstic film is removed from the acrylic Texas shape and the sequin mix is added to the shaker, glue top frame down to the body of the shaker.  Now for the twist~

Shakers7_Clear Scraps_c.mercer

Add a spool to the back allowing for a pencil to be placed in the spool hole.  Paper or felt can be added around the spool and then using a strong adhesive attach to the back of the shaker.

Shakers5_Clear Scraps_c. mercer

A note pad could be given with this too, for extra cuteness!!  The Star Shaker is created the same way except instead of using the spool hole for a pencil, I glued a small cloths pin to the back of the shaker.

Shakers6_Clear Scraps_c.mercer

This could hold a quote, photo or card, you decide!!!  One tip, when attaching the spool to the shaker, make sure it is flush with the shaker, so it will adhere good (that is why I used felt around the niddle of the spool, it is thicker)

November Tag

Hello! It's Jennifer on the blog today to share my tag for this month!  Winter is almost here in the US and I couldn't wait to use the Mini Snowflake Shaker on my acrylic tag! Its definitely one of my favorite shapes in the Shaker collection!   And I'm going to show you the techniques I  used!

Clear_Scraps_November_tag

I covered my Acrylic Tag using alcohol  ink in Mermaid.   Using a solvent based medium is your best bet to use on all Clear Scraps acrylic as it won't run and dries quickly!

Clear_Scraps_November_tag4

Next, I  turned my tag over so I  could create a fun background with a favorite Mascil!  Using the 6 Inch Nordic Snowflake Mascil and metallic texture paste,  I    applied a thin layer to my acrylic.  You will always want to apply your paint or other medium to the opposite side that you colored with alcohol ink to prevent color from lifting.

Clear_Scraps_November_tag5

Here is a close up of the end result!  Not perfect but that's ok!  My rule is mistakes can always be covered up with embellishments! :)

Clear_Scraps_November_tag3

Next, I'm going to show you how I    decorated my Snowflake Shaker!  I    applied a few coats of off-white acrylic paint to the top chipboard frame.

Clear_Scraps_November_tag6

Once dry, I    used embossing ink and powder to give my snowflake a beautiful metallic blue shine!

Clear_Scraps_November_tag8

I    then assembled my Shaker by adhering patterned paper to the back chipboard piece as well as inserting metallic "snow" and sequins to the center. Once my Shaker was dry, I    went back around the edges with my acrylic paint to cover the bare chipboard.  I    allowed some of the paint to cover the front of my snowflake to give it a "snowy" look. Using Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive, I    attached my shaker to the front of my card.

Clear_Scraps_November_tag2

Thanks for looking today! I    hope you will check out the large variety of Shakers in the Clear Scraps shop! Have a great day!

Additional products used:  patterned paper, chipboard, stickers:  Echo Park Paper; bakers twine: Whisker Graphics; embossing paste, alcohol ink: Ranger; embossing powder: Recollections; metallic texture paste: Heidi Swapp; snow: Stampendous; sequins: Jillibean Soup, Making Memories; misc: ribbon.
