Shakes and Cupcakes

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a fun card I made using the new Mini-Cupcake Shaker.

Cupcake_shaker_card_nancy keslin_clear scraps

These little shakers are so much fun to play with.  For this card I covered the base layer with patterned papers and filled the shaker with seed beads before adding the top layer of chipboard.  Super quick and easy and such a fun way to celebrate.

What do you like to fill your shakers with?

February Tag

Hi friends!   Today I'm sharing my February tag for Clear Scraps.  February is a time for Love and Romance.  Seems like life

is always too busy  for the most important things, however this fun tag won't take you long at all.

I  created this tag with Clear Scraps Acrylic  Tag Album.

  1

For this acrylic tag I adhered the paper on the backside of the tag and embellished the tag on the

front with flowers and gold embossing powder.

I popped up all the pieces with pop dots for dimension.

To finish it off add a piece of eyelash twine  and a gingham bow to the top.

Hope you enjoyed my February Tag and hope you're playing along with the design team on the ClearScraps Blog and making your own pretty tags!

Be sure to stop by and check out all the beautiful tags this month by our talented designers!

Mono Butterflies Acrylic Layout

Hello friends! It's almost  the end of February and one of our themes this month is friendship!  Today, I'm sharing one of the new fabulous 12x12 Acrylic Layouts!  Please don't be intimidated by them; I swear they are lots of fun and easy to embellish!  I used the Mono Butterflies 12x12 Acrylic Layout with photos of my daughter and her BFF since kindergarten. They don't see each other a lot but when they do, watch out! Seriously, they crack me up and are two peas in a pod. I love that they act like no time has passed since they've seen each other.  :)

Clear_Scraps_Butterfly_12x12_Acrylic_Layout

I started by removing the protective film from both sides of the acrylic. I then used some distress paint on the butterflies and a portion of the frames. Once dry, I started covering the edges with patterned papers using Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Adhesive. I simply trimmed my edges with scissors or an exacto knife.  Also a little sanding helps as well!

IMG_5151

I had some Butterfly Mixers in my stash (Susan don't ever get rid of these! LOL)  and wanted to add them as a 3D element to my page.  I painted both with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Chandelier. I then took my heat tool and LIGHTLY applied some heat to bend the shapes; you have to be careful because they will melt fast!  Once set, I took a few matching colors of alcohol ink and dropped directly into the Mixers. I found that using a pop dot along with the Beacon adhesive kept the Mixers secure.

Don't be afraid to do a little experimenting with the colors...you may be surprised with your results!

Air Balloon Acrylic Layout ~ new release !

Hi, Connie here with another, awesome,  new release by Clear Scraps.  If you are a scrapbooker you will love this Air Balloon Acrylic Layout.  This is one design, Clear Scraps has many different and fun Acrylic Layout designs. Spaces are cut out for photos, making it easy for placement.  Embellishments are also cut into the design.  By adding ink or paint the embellishments come to life.

Acrylic overlay_clear scraps_c.mercer

Alcohol ink was used on parts of the design.  Blue for the clouds and red for the air balloon.   The inks will run and it didn't bother me one bit:).  Just remember to remove the plastic from the acrylic before applying the ink.   Painters tape can also be used, to mask an area, so ink doesn't run where you don't want it.

Acrylic overlay_clear scraps_c.mercer1

The acrylic layout was used as a guide only~ still leaves plenty of room to be creative.   Layering of paper embellishments look great over the acrylic layout.

Balloon Acrylic Layout by Angel

Today I bring to you the Balloon Acrylic Layout ! This is one of our new releases.

Below is photos of my nephew's last birthday!  This acrylic layout was just what I needed to showcase his perfect day!

All Grown Up- Angel-2017

To color the balloons I used my copic markers.I wiped a lil off in the middle of each ballon before i highlighted them using a black sharpie marker.

Close up 1balloon

I attached my acrylic layout on top of the pattern paper then I used the embellishments from the paper line to finish up the look. I also added the black ric rack ribbon to make boarders. I cut out squares of the contrasting paper to add in the square boxes as I did not want the background in one color.

February Tag - Nancy

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you the tag I made for this month.  Using the Tag Album and Tag Box along with some older supplies and a Julie Nutting stamp, i created this fun Valentine.

Clearscraps_tag_julie nutting_paper doll_nancy keslin

To begin, I inked my embossing folder with red distress ink.  Afterward I ran the tag through the cutting machine to emboss.

Clearscraps_tag_julie nutting_paper doll_nancy keslin

I love the way the ink fills the high points on the embossed tag.

Clearscraps_tag_background

To make the doll, I stamped her on multiple sheets of paper to ensure I had all the pieces needed to create multiple layers.
Clearscraps_tag_julie nutting_paper doll_nancy keslin

I painted the book paper with acrylic paints to color her skin and hair.

Clearscraps_tag_julie nutting_paper doll_nancy keslin

I cut the dress into multiple pieces in order to add dimensional layers using foam tape for added depth.  Then  I added some inking to define the layers

Clearscraps_tag_julie nutting_paper doll_nancy keslin

I added a doily, ribbon and paper tag to the embossed clear tag.

Clearscraps_tag_julie nutting_paper doll_nancy keslin

And then flowers, a hand cut frog, and a few letters for my sentiment.

Love Expressions Large Clear Word Title

Hello!  It's Jennifer and I'm on the blog sharing one of the XL Clear Word Titles! Appropriately I decorated the Love Word Title for Valentines Day! There are both horizontal and vertical words to choose from; all make great home decor projects!

Clear_Scraps_Love_Expressions_XL_Clear_Word_Title

After removing the protective film from both sides of the word, I flipped it over and added red alcohol ink to the heart portion.  Once dry, I dripped salmon pink and teal alcohol inks directly onto the red to give the heart a marbled look.  I colored the acrylic on the back so that if I add any painting or stamping, it won't be affected by the alcohol.

 IMG_5278

I added one of the Dragonflies Chipboard Embellishments to the center of the heart.  I started with a few layers of  Distress Paint to cover the chipboard.

IMG_5279

Once dry, I stamped the dragonfly in my VersaMark pad and applied some of my favorite glitter embossing powder! This is one of my go to techniques when coloring the Clear Scraps Chipboard Embellishments!

Clear_Scraps_Love_Expressions_XL_Clear_Word_Title2

Here is a close up of the heart and the marbling effect with the alcohol inks!  I love how it turned out!  I used a hand punch for the smaller pennants as well as added die cuts and epoxy shapes from the collection. I used Beacon 3-in-1 Adhesive to adhere my Dragonfly to the heart.

Clear_Scraps_Love_Expressions_XL_Clear_Word_Titles3

Clear_Scraps_Love_XL_Clear_Word_Title4

For the remainder of the letters, I used Beacon Adhesive to affix patterned paper to the acrylic. I used an exacto knife and sanding tool to get rid of any excess edges.  To finish, I used a small ruler and journaling pen to draw some sketch lines along the edges for contrast.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please check out all of the variety of Clear Word Titles in the Clear Scraps Shop! Have a great day!

Additional products used:  patterned paper, die cuts, epoxy shapes, chipboard: Crate Paper; alcohol ink, paint: Ranger; pennant punch: Fiskars; embossing ink: VersaMark; embossing powder: Recollections for Michaels; journaling pen: American Crafts; paper clip: Doodlebug; misc: sewing machine, thread, ribbon.
