Tote bags, mixed media style with Clear Scraps!

Hi, Connie here with a fun tutorial on creating a decorative tote bag using stencils by Clear Scraps.  I have two tote bags to show using different stencils by Clear Scraps. Here is the first one with a tutorial on how it was created.

Instructions:

Sunflower_stencil_clear scraps_c. mercer

  1. Place a piece of cardboard inside the canvas bag in case the paint bleeds through.
  2. Take the Sunflower stencil and mark an X on the top of the stencil and that will be your starting point. You will lay it over the Sunflower when you do the center; the X will come in handy to get the stencil lined up with the flower petals.
  3. Pour out some yellow paint and apply it to the stencil brush. Brush the paint out on scrap paper and then take it to the canvas bag.  Repeat the process to get a smooth application of paint.
  4. When the petals are completed, remove the stencil and add brown paint to the center. Using the stencil brush or a sponge, with an up and down motion.
  5. When the brown paint is dry, lay the Sunflower stencil over the Sunflower (this is where the X comes in handy to line up the petals).
  6. Pour out some black paint and apply the paint to a stencil brush and stencil in the black center dots on the Sunflower.
  7. Using other Clear Scraps stencils apply more color to the canvas bag. Make sure the paint is dry before laying the stencil on the canvas bag.  It is OK to stencil over each design, kind of fun.
  8. Speckle the bag by using an old tooth brush. Thin out the black paint by adding a little water and load up the tooth brush with the paint. Stand over the project and run your thumb through the tooth brush.  The effect is great looking.   Try not to get drips but if you do, those look great too!!!

Keepsake Box

Angel will be showing you how she decorated her Acrylic Keepsake Box from Clear Scraps!

Acrylic Box-clearScraps-Angel Lebouef

What I did here was trace all my acrylic pieces and traced on my pattern paper then cut out all the pattern paper pieces.

Before glueing down the pattern paper to the pieces I pulled the clear protective coating off. I also distressed all edges of the paper.

Acrylic box-Clearscraps-Angel Lebouef 4
Then I added the name plate and also my embellishments.

Mixable Tag album with Leah

TagAlbum_LeahCrowe

Happy Monday Clear Scraps fam!
Today I am sharing one of the wonderful Mixable albums Clear Scraps has. The great thing about these albums is the mix between chipboard and acrylic.

TagAlbumB_LeahCrowe

I started off by adding pattern paper to the backside of the acrylic pages as well as both sides of the chipboard pages.

TagAlbum2_LeahCrowe

I then used stazon ink and a 6" chevron stencil through out the album to add interest and make the pages more cohesive.

TagAlbum3_LeahCrowe

TagAlbum4_LeahCrowe

This is the one chipboard page I left naked and painted with acrylic paint. The pink was two coats, and then stenciled with the chevron mask. The chipboard is a champ and holds up well to paint with no warping.

TagAlbum5_LeahCrowe

As you can see, the theme of this album was a concert my daughter took me to for my 40th birthday! Panic! at the Disco!!! They are my favorite and it was a dream come true.

TagAlbum6_LeahCrowe

TagAlbum7_LeahCrowe

TagAlbum8_LeahCrowe

After I added all my embellishments I used a book ring to hold it all together.

TagAlbum9_LeahCrowe

Oh yes, one other thing to note with the stencil, I added it in places to help hide the Beacons 3-in-1 glue I used to adhere the pattern paper to the back of the acrylic pages. It looks cool and is also useful in hiding glue spots. Win, Win!

Fall Banner

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a lovely fall banner I made using the Large Pennant Banners and the Floral Borders 2 Mascil.

Banner_fall_clearscraps_nancy keslin

I love making banners for my home.  And with my fireplace mantel needing a little something I figured it was time to create a new fall banner.

Banner_fall_clearscraps_nancy keslin_flower

I began by inking the backside of the pennants with the Floral Borders 2 Mascil and some Stazon inks, blending the colors as I went.  Each pennant required two passes with the mascil, but the border stamp made lining the image up with the edge so easy.

Banner_fall_clearscraps_nancy keslin_buttons

I added lots of lovely layers to the top of each pennant.  Corrugated cardboard, gorgeous scraps of patterned papers, bits of lace and pearls layered and then finished with a few buttons to create the depth of design.

Banner_fall_clearscraps_nancy keslin_stencil

More patterned papers, a doily, custom died flowers, and a small cameo embellished the fun foam letters to spell my sentiment.

This project was so fun to make and I know my family will enjoy it for the whole season.

Hugs.

Love You Fall Fun Decor by Pinky

Hey there again Clear Scraps friends, it's Pinky!

I love fall and am really excited to turn some of the Clear Scraps goodness into Fall Home Decor pieces! I actually took the Creating Made Easy November Kit and use my leftover papers to create this project!

Clear Scraps Love You Word Board Pinky Hobbs - 2

This project was created using the Love You Word Frame which is actually 20" long, so it makes a beautiful wall hanging. I actually painted the front gold, then dabbed on brown and orange paint after I used the 6" Folk Heart Mascil/Stencil with modeling paste.

Clear Scraps Love You Word Board Pinky Hobbs - 1

For the heart I used micro beads and a different patterned paper from the Creating Made Easy November Kit that was similar to the other papers.

It is a versatile piece, these Word Frames come in all styles, check them out!

Blessed November Tag by Jennifer

Hello friends! Thanksgiving here in the USA is fast approaching!  Today, I'm happy to share my tag for November along with my techniques!  I love this time of year not only because of the beautiful colors outside, but also I get to use warm colors to create with!

Clear_Scraps_November_tag7

First off, I started with three colors of alcohol ink that are similar tones.

Clear_Scraps_November_tag

Starting at the bottom of my tag, I began layering the colors using the darkest first.  I usually just add a few drops of the ink to the acrylic and then use a blending tool to thin it out. Don't be afraid to allow the colors to "run" into each other...it does not have to be perfect! :)

Clear_Scraps_November_tag2

After allowing the alcohol ink to dry, I flipped over my tag to add some texture paste with a fun Mascil. Here, I used the 12x12 Twigs Leaves Mascil and applied a light coat of the texture paste.   Clear_Scraps_November_tag3

Once the paste dries, you will get almost a golden shimmer image shining through your acrylic! My first intention was to have the texture paste facing up, but I was pleasantly surprised on the result!

Clear_Scraps_November_tag8

Lastly, I added patterned paper, as well as coordinating stickers and die cuts from my Silhouette.  I used a few foam dots to pop up my sticker title and add some depth.

Movember Hipster Holiday Tree by Pinky

Hey there Clear Scraps friends, it's Pinky today and I have kind of an unusual fun project to share for MOVEMBER- if you had not heard of Movember- it's really all about mustaches in November.

I thought it would be fun to make a Hipster Holiday Tree and Card for one of my mustache fanatic friends to celebrate men's health.

Mustache Christmas Trees 3-D Hipster Holidays Pinky Hobbs Clear Scraps1

I used the Clear Scraps medium sized (7.5X11.5) 3D Chipboard X-Mas Tree, paired with the Clear Scraps 6" Mustaches Mascil/Stencil and the Clear Scraps Acrylic Coasters(for the card).

Mustache Christmas Trees 3-D Hipster Holidays Pinky Hobbs Clear Scraps3

I wanted it to be masculine yet still shine for the holidays, so I painted the 3D Chipboard X-Mas Tree black then used metallic gold paint to stencil on the Mustaches Mascil/Stencil. Then I added black pearls.

For the card I used a black shimmer cardstock, that I fitted to the Acrylic Coaster and added 1" at the top for the border punch and fold over.

Mustache Christmas Trees 3-D Hipster Holidays Pinky Hobbs Clear Scraps2

It was a fun little kitchy project to create and perfect for November, I can't wait to see my friend's face, it is the holiday season and all sorts of decor goes, why not make it YOURS!

I hope you like my fun project today, happy November friends.

Until next time, keep on checking our blog for more project ideas, and keep checking back for even more new releases!

December Tag Of The Month by Pinky

Hey there Clear Scraps friends, it's Pinky today and I am excited to share my December Tag which is the Tag of the Month. I had so much fun making the "Snowy Door" Tag using the Tag Album & Tag Box set.

Clear Scraps December Tag-Pinky Hobbs

I loved using the 6" Holly Christmas Bulbs stencil/mascil for the back of the tag- with metallic paints, then turning it over and adding the snowy effect with a clear medium and glitter and also using the Fancy Window Chipboard Embellishment as the "door". Christmas and snow always get me in the mood to create and craft outside of my usual crafting, I think it's my favorite time of year to craft with all the snowy scenes. So many ways to create snow-scales.

I have created a full instructions PDF sheet you can download right below:

Download December Snowy Door Tag by Pinky

It shares step by step  how I created this Tag and how you can create your own. I loved leaving it clear so you can see through, that is definitely my favorite part of working with acrylics!

Have you tried creating any of the monthly tags? How did yours turn out? Share them on the Clear Scraps Facebook Page!

Happy crafting my friends. Enjoy your Christmas crafts and all the holidays spirits.

Autumn Tag - Irene Tan

Autumn Tag by Irene Tan 01

Hello Clear Scraps fans! Today, I would like to share with you all a tag which I've created using Clear Scraps chipboard tag and stencils

To create the background of this tag, I've used tons of gelatos and a few stencils by Clear Scraps. I could easily blend and create layers using gelatos by Faber-Castell.

Here is a close-up on this tag.

Canvas prints made with stencils by Clear Scraps~

Hi, Connie here with two stenciled examples, on canvas squares, using the 12" Sunflower by Clear Scraps.   I tried something new on my stenciling technique, a battery operated round stencil brush.  I love how it applied the acrylic paint and I love how it handled the stencil.  Let me show you~

Sf stencil_clear scraps_c.mercer

The paint goes on so smooth and even.  Easy to add more color or add shading after the Sunflower is dry.  I continued to layer color on the Sunflower, using a stencil brush and sponges to apply the color to the leaves.  I used some distress inks to add color to the canvas.  I loved the 12" Chevron and the 12" Leaves stencil by Clear Scraps. After the leaves were added the canvas square had the Fall feel to it that I was trying to achieve.

Hello Love Mixable Album

Hi friends! It's Jennifer today to share a mini album I made using the Mixable Gracey Album! Like all Mixable Albums, you have both acrylic and chipboard cascading pages! This particular album measures 5.5 x 8 inches so you have plenty of room for multiple sized photos!

My brother and sister-in-law just celebrated their anniversary so I wanted to create a gift for them! Clear Scraps albums are my favorite to use to document a special event or cherished photos!

Clear_Scraps_Mixable_Gracey_album

Here is the front of my album....I love to layer embellishments! I created a polaroid type frame with a die cut and patterned paper then added coordinating stickers as well as a decorative pin.

Clear_Scraps_Mixable_Gracey_album2

I like to leave the inside of the front page for journaling about the event; I even stamped the date with one of my roller date stamps!

Clear_Scraps_Mixable_Gracey_album3

Another favorite of mine is to add in extra pages with die cuts or coordinating cards. I even use glassine bags, envelopes, tags or create my own pockets.

Clear_Scraps_Mixable_Gracey_album11

Here, I created a pocket page with double sided patterned paper and my sewing machine. I then added some of the 3x4 Journaling cards as well as a tag to insert. I decorated the front of my pocket with a cute mini doily and a coordinating sticker!
