Make Art...

This month the Clear Scrap Design Team is highlighting Beacon Adhesives!

CS_art layout1_wprice

For today's layout, I wanted to find a way to add a bit of shimmer and color to the acrylic while keeping the transparent quality. The solution...Beacon's Fast Finish and mica powders! Fast Finish is  a decoupage medium for adhering paper and fabric to wood but it also works fantastic as a fixative for mica powders because it is so fluid.

CS_art layout4_wprice

I began by pouring out some Fast Finish. Next I added a bit of mica powders from the containers and mixed them into the Fast Finish. You only need a tiny bit of mica powder. I added a piece of washi tape down the XL Dazed shape to keep the Fast Finish mica mixture from spreading. I dabbed the Fast Finish mica mix onto the acrylic shape with a paintbrush. To keep the mixture from seeping under the acrylic shape, I lifted the entire piece up onto acrylic blocks.

Here is a close up of the Fast Finish finish after it has dried...

I colored the stamped images from behind with alcohol markers. I also painted parts of the stamped design that would be metal with the Fast Finish mixture.

Hello everyone! Today, I have a mini mixable album to share with you all. Do you know that Clear Scraps has some new mini mixables album? These album are perfect if you want to create a fast project as a gift for someone special.

Poinsettia Card

I'm getting a jump start on holiday card making with today's project! Using Clear Scraps 12 x 12 Blank Acrylic Sheet and Quarterfoil Mascil, I created this Poinsettia Card.

CS_poinsetta card2_wprice

Directions:
1. Cut a 12 x 12 blank acrylic sheet down to 4.5 by 12 inches. Peel back protective film at 6 inches. Leave rest in place to act as a mask.
2. Stamp the Poinsettia stamp in StazOn.
3. Flip the acrylic over, peel off the protective film and color with alcohol markers. Paint over the colored areas with white acrylic paint if desired to help the colors pop.
4. Once paint is dry, stencil with a bit of StazOn white ink through Quarterfoil Mascil. note: the StazOn can react with the alcohol ink markers. The areas I painted the white acrylic paint seemed to be protected, but the pine needle areas did lift a bit.
5. Fold acrylic blank sheet in half to create a card.
6. Ink the sentiment with a marker and stamp. Trim and adhere to card front.

Embrace

Hello friends! It's Jennifer and I'm up today with a layout using my word of 2015: Embrace.  Did you know Clear Scraps will do Custom Acrylic Word Titles, as well as Acrylic or Chipboard Wordbooks?   I was so excited when Susan talked to me at CHA this past January about the design team designating a word to be the theme for 2015.  Instantly I know what word I would choose.

Clear_Scraps_Embrace_layout

Why this word? I struggle with living in the moment and being present. I need to EMBRACE each day and all of the little details that come with.  I will admit I can be a control freak and I will let anxiety control my mood. However, I know need to give it over to God and realize HE is in control; not me.

Sometimes life events will cause you to realize that you need to slow down and stop worrying about every little detail. I lost my mom to cancer six years ago and it changed me. I learned life is short and I had to cherish each day; to take the good with the bad.

I will say I am far from perfecting this idea. I still worry and get anxious. Most of the time I let it get the best of me.  At the end of the day I know I am human and imperfect, but I have a perfect God that loves me unconditionally.

And I know my mother wished for me to keep enjoying life and being the best mom I can be.

Using a clipboard like a frame~

Hi, Connie here with another idea for the large Portrait Clipboard by Clear Scraps.  My idea was to have it display a scrapbook page, that at a later date, I would put on a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and add to my album.

Cb1

The page fits perfect on the clipboard and will work great for a 12x12 scrapbook page. The clipboard is stenciled with the Doily stencil.  It is not adhered to the clipboard making it perfect for an album page and the clipboard is ready to display another creation.  A win, win !!!

Instructions~

  1. Cut lrg piece of green paper to 8” x 10”.
  2. Cut brown dot paper to 8 ½” x 11 ½”.
  3. Stencil Doily on front in 4 places using StazOn ink/Brown.
  4. Using the foam applicator (from stencil) dab on silver clip with StazOn ink/Brown.
  5. Use StazOn Ink on the fence embellishment.
  6. Corner round the bottom corners of the green and brown papers.  Adhere together.
  7. Ink around all paper embellishments (lrg papers, 3x4 card and words).
  8. Create cluster in the bottom Left corner.
  9. Adhere fence, Doily and ticket to corner cluster.  Use foam adhesive or wet adhesive(Beacon) on the twine.
  10. Title page and stamp out words or use words you have, to finish the word corner of the page.
  11. Last thing to do is adhere the butterflies using Beacon .

Small Acrylic Box...

Today I'm sharing a project I made using the Small 3.5 x 5.0 inch Clear Scraps Acrylic Box and Feather Mixers.

CS_aug15_box1_wprice

The sheet music design was heat embossed on the acrylic with gold, being careful not to overheat the acrylic.

I airbrushed the Feather Mixer with alcohol markers. Next I mixed gold mica powder into Beacon's Fast Finish and splattered it on the other side of the feather. Allow to dry.

Finally assemble the box, embellish with washi tape, tag and feather.

Dress-form Bookmark Tutorial by Pinky!

Hey there friends, Pinky here. It's Monday and what makes Monday happy? A fun craft project tutorial!

Today I have some Dress-form Bookmarks that I created using Clear Scraps Dress Form Embellishments.

First of all take the protective film off the top, I left the dress forms on the packaging.

Using white StazOn ink stamp your quote onto the front, remembering to re-ink each impression.

After that remove the protective film from the back and carefully drop alcohol ink onto dress forms (on the back) and allow it to dry.

After that dries take them outside and spray the back (over the alcohol ink) with spray paint! Try different colors and it makes each one a different color. I used 3 colors and you can see the difference.

Punch a hole in the top and add ribbon or leather cording, whatever looks the best.

Great adult bookmarks with some sofistication!
