Hello everyone and happy day! Liza here with a blog about a banner.
Summer is a time for lots of celebrations. As much as I enjoy having special themed decor, sometimes it's just about the PARTY! Family, friends, food, music, sunshine!
Today I bring you a two-sided pennant I made with the 5 Piece Acrylic Banner. Since the flags are clear, I used a double sided paper with a print of doily paper banners,on one side and bright pink stripes on the other, great for my summer patio party theme.
I started by tracing the triangle of the penant flag on the paper five times. Be careful to keep the tracing all the same direction if you have a pattern that should be "right side up" when on the flag! Then I cut them out and adhered them to the flags, alternating which side faced out.
I used a circle punch to add accent paper with a doily edge on each side, one facing up and one down. Using a pinecone diecut template, I die cut a spiral "flower" for every other on on the one side. The other side of the banner I left simpler.
Next I die cut the letters and added glitter glue before removing them from the sheet.
Adding glitter to the letters before removing them from the die cut mat allows a complete coverage of the edge and it holds them in place until they dry and you lift them out.
Once dry, I added a shadowed letter to one side and a single layer letter to the other.
Some little scalloped shapes were left from the half-circle accent border punch, so I zipped a few through a sticker maker and made the tiny scattered blossoms with glitter centers! I added them around the letters.
To connect and hang the pennants I used sheer orange wired organza ribbon from my stash. To be a little different, I raided my daughter's camp counselor supplies and used plastic lacing cord, often used friendship bracelets, to make a bow on each corner. The two-tone pink cord is stretchy and rubbery and adds a different texture and a little extra "fluff".
Here are the two side of the banner. I made it two sided so it can be hung in a window, the top of a doorway, under a patio umbrella and looks good from both sides. Or you can choose your theme for the day!
I hope this inspired you to make an eye-catching summer celebration banner with acrylic! Enjoy!
