Greetings CS fans!
Michelle Hodges here today sharing my first gdt project!
I'm so excited to be able to work with the amazing CS products for the next 3 months!
Today I'm sharing a mixed media canvas using the new 6x6 Clouds mascils/stencil!
To create the canvas background I used modeling paste, gelatos,
and gel medium with beads.
For the triangles on the edges I used the 6x6 Diamonds mascils/stencil.
The stamps I used are from Tim Holtz, Studio Calico and the washi tape is
from my stash.
Here's the 2 Mascils/Stencils I used!
Clouds. I love this stencil! I can think of all kinds of ways to use this stencil
for various projects! Cards, tags, home decor and Scrapbooking!
Diamonds. This stencil is so versatile! See how I used it on the canvas to look like an arrow.
Use it as a background like a lattice, add 5 of the diamonds to look like a X,
use 4 diamonds to make a large harlequin.
Here's some more details about how I created the canvas.
For the dragonflies I used the mini dragonfly album.
The top dragonfly I used Friendly Plastic that you use for jewelry and craft projects.
Here's the instructions on how I used the Friendly plastic.
First gather your supplies: Heat gun, heat mat, modeling paste, sewing puncher,
mesh, Friendly plastic and ink.
This is a close up of the Friendly plastic they come in little strips in various colors.
After you break a small piece up you want to get your heat gun ready to
melt the Friendly plastic.
When melting the Friendly plastic use the low heat.
Be careful this does get hot!
Your Friendly plastic is ready to use when it melts into a small puddle.
See below.
Once your piece is melted take a sewing hole puncher,
tooth pick, or screw driver to pick some of the Friendly plastic up.
You only have a minute or two because this Friendly plastic dries very fast.
If you find you don't get the the Friendly plastic moved before its hardens
just re-heat it and its ready to go!
You will then add the melted Friendy plastic to your project.
You want to spread the melted plastic around like you adding butter to bread.
Don't add it too thick because after it dries and hardens
it can crack if its too thick.
If you find any pieces that are cracking once its on your project just move the heat gun
over your project quickly and it will remelt back together.
Here's a close up of the dragonfly with the Friendly plastic.
The Friendly plastic also works awesome with Clear Scraps chipboard products too!
For the body I added the mesh and added some modeling paste over the top.
Once that was dried I then added some ink.
I left a few spaces open so you could still see some of the acrylic.
For the other dragonfly I added Viva crackle white paint to the wings.
Once it was dry I added some ivory shimmer paint from Creative Inspirations.
I used the Krylon 18k gold leafing pen on the head and mica glitter
by Stampendous for the body.
For the tail I used some gold beads from my stash.
To adhere the beads and glitter I used Dazzle tac jewelry glue from Beacon.
I hope I was able to give you some fun ideas using items from your stash to create
artsy projects using the Clear Scraps acrylic mini album and Mascils/Stencils!
It's amazing how versatile the Clears Scraps products are!
Have you seen the new Mascils/Stencils releases, yet? I'm loving the 4th of July and Birthday ones!
